Math U2- Designing a Story Problem

My story is about a guy called Jort and his Graph of happy customers he serves at his first day at work. (McDonalds) The graphs works by his counting the amount of customers he serves, then if those customers come back, he would subtract from the total to find the amount of happy customers he helped.

The part I am most proud of for this project is the organization. I usually have extremely messy projects, but this might be my neatest one. Not only that, but I also did the actual work and included everything I needed to.

The hardest part about this project was probably just making the problem and how why the graph goes up and down. After that hurdle, the math itself was just following directions and making sure not to mess up.

If I could revise one part about this project it would probably be the graph. I miss counted the first time the graph did not mathematically add up, so I had to change that mid way and it waisted a lot of time. If I could redo this, I could have saved more time as well as making it and maybe even make it look better.

This project helped me understand how to not only make a piecewise function graph, how to show all my work for it, but most importantly how everything works together and how I can apply it to real problems.

Design Tech, Unit 1 – Box design

This is my final box design for the first DT unit. I got the task of designing as box with a cubism art style. And I decided to make my box look like an egg cooking on a cast iron pan. My box has 2 layers for the pan and the yolk, this is so they contrast with each other and makes it look a lot better.

This entire process of making our box, we had to create a process journal for the entire unit.

Although I missed many classes to go to Australia, I was still able to write down my entire journey.

We first make draft and prototype it with styrofoam. Then we make our actual design and get it approved. After that we spray paint and assemble to pieces to get a final product. Once that all gets approved and tested, you finally get a completed box.

U1-Science

I am proud that I was able to show my understanding on a ton of new content I have never even heard of before. I am able to be prepared every class, and I also try to always collaborate with others.

The biggest challenge for me in this class is staying focused, because sometimes without me trying, I would drift off and lose focus, then when I come back to reality, I have no idea what is going on. So that is something I need to work on.

I think I have shown most of the active learner requirements, like I am always prepared in class, I try my best most of the times, I always try to collaborate with others, and I try to always be in a positive mood in class.

For my overall performance and effort for science out of 5, I would give myself a 4. I always try to do my best work, but sometimes I drift off and always lose focus on what we are doing in class.

Math U1- Celebration of learning

I chose question 3 as evidence of my best thinking because if I did the test just a couple of days earlier, I would have got this question completely wrong because I got dilation a bit mixed up. For some reason, before I thought a COD with negative numbers just mean it makes the number smaller, but now I know a COD with a negative number just makes the shape go in a different direction.

I chose question 2 as evidence of my best thinking because I was able to correctly find the COD using projection lines, which is something I have never even heard of before, and usually I would forget even the easiest things in just a day or so, but I was able to successfully do it on the test.

Throughout this unit, I improved the most in Dilation because before this unit, I have never even heard of Dilation before.

I feel like I still need to work on doing the correct mapping rules, because although it is no longer tested, I do usually forget how to do them correctly for things like rotation and reflection.

My three strengths for this year is understanding how to do rigid motions and dilation, describing the sequence for how to get the pre-image to the image, and using correct mathematical language.

Three things I want to work on this year is correctly doing the mapping rule, understanding triangle congruency even more, and using evidence and reasoning to explain why they are congruent.

Next unit I might want to even just try for a exceeding if I can. Somethings that might get in the way are, dumb mistakes and bad memory on how to do easy stuff. If I ever get stuck or need help, I would do the extra extension practice work and if that does not work, I could try to learn by myself on the internet or just ask for help from the teacher.

G8 Language Arts U1 Independent Research work

For my independent time, I have been spending my time researching about the time when citizens of Indonesia have been protesting about the current state of the country and their leader, using the jolly roger of the straw hat pirates in the story of “One Piece” The reason I am so interested about this topic, is because for a very long time, I have been a huge fan of one piece, and I always knew it was an extremely popular story world wide, but its the first time I have seen a group of people use a fictional sign to prove their point. I am very curious about how the anime has influenced so many people.

In the process of researching this, I have learned that a huge number of people in Indonesia are huge anime fans. Some people would go to internet cafes just to watch anime or read manga (Books that the anime is based off of). The flags have been flown next to the red and white flag of Indonesia in the month of August, which is the lead-up to Independence day on Sunday for them.

Now the main reason people are specifically using the one piece flag to protest is because, in the story of “One Piece” a main theme and idea is opposing the corrupt Government system their world have endured.

PE – Unit 1 Table Tennis Reflection

In every single one of my table tennis units, I usually don’t feel any improvement and just feel like Im just gonna have to push myself through the unit. But this year, I actually felt like I was improving and I was winning a lot more matches than before. I improved on both my forehand and backhand, now I am able to somewhat smash the ball to the other team. I am also able to serve and receive a bit better than before. And this was not only in singles, in doubles I felt like I has some sort of improvement working with my partner and doing decent hits. Although Im still not one of the “really good” players in class, at least I felt like I was improving and having some sort of fun this year.

Social Studies Final Documentary Film Project

Making the documentary was a cool process. First we had to choose our topic. Me and my parter wanted it to be something to do with gambling or sports. But we found the Black Sox Scandal which includes both of those things! Then, we needed to do research on the topic, which was… alright I guess. BUT after that we got to start writing our essay/script. And a really nice thing me and my parter did is that we tried to split our work exactly 50-50. So I would do 2 paragraphs and he would do 2. After that we continued with the 50-50 rule while we made our films. I made the second paragraph and ending while my partner made the intro and first paragraph. Making the film also included our voice recording which was a pretty fun process. But in the middle of making our film, I had to leave for 2 weeks to America for a Robotics competition. So I got less time to work on my documentary, but luckily, we already finished most of our work already, so my parter had a easier time to just work on the thing by themself. And in the end, our documentary was complete and I think we did a pretty nice job on it!

I think I was a pretty effective collaborator! I made sure we both worked a lot on our project and whenever we get off task, I would try to get us back on task while also having a bit of the fun myself. And even though I left for 2 weeks, I still worked on it as much as I can in America, and my partner was there to fill in my spot while I was gone. But overall, I think me and my parter worked really well together.

Final language arts reflection and final year Reflection.

My abuse of power for this unit is “The Big Tobacco manipulation of public health.” While researching about this abuse of power I learned the true reason why I see so many old photos of people smoking and why they thought smoking was cool back then.

I just followed instructions and did it. From my planning doc, I wanted to get as much information as possible. A challenge I had while making this is that, I needed to change everything in the middle of making the stuff. Because apparently I had to present it like a story and not like a powerpoint.

I learnt how to be more organized with my work and how to use my time to its max efficiency. For example, in 6th grade I was only able to do work slow and steady. But now I am able to juggle multiple ideas at a time.

My top 5 books of the year: Space case, Maze Runner, The Hobbit, Scythe, Only Road

The Hobbit is a great book I would recommend

Maze Runner was a bit challenging for me because at first I did not understand what makes the book so good, and I was just reading without understanding.

Math U5 Summative project

The project I made is called “McDucken’s Bugr” (spelt wrong ik)

I made sure to make everything nice and clear for the teacher to see, and I also made sure to include all the things I needed to add to ensure a good grade.

although I maybe could have use a pen to trace everything because behind that background its not as clear as I would have wanted it to be.

U6 Test

In unit 6, I managed to be able to not make so many stupid mistakes, as they would always come back to kill me every single time.

Also my handwriting improved and made my work more clear to my teacher!

I would like to keep this up and make sure I don’t die.
