In this unit, I got to improve my badminton skills, my forehand serves are more easy to control and I can do small serves and also flick serves. My long clear is more accurate and I can hit all of them high above the net so that the opponent can’t attack directly. My attacking clear lasts longer when I rally with opponents, my overhead smashes still need work as I can’t do them on will, sometimes I manage to hit smashes other times I miss it. And I also need more power when smashing as my smashes are easy to intercept and return back. I should try attacking more as then my opponent would be caught off guard and protect so that I can take the advantage. I also need to work more on my dropshots as I still use a lot of force which makes them into a attacking clear, my hairpins are unstable and I should try to practice short balls so they land in front of the net as most of my shots go into the mid court or back court which sometimes makes them into out of bounds or faults. My backhand is pretty solid and my forehand has improved a lot.
Part 1: Unit 2 Topic A and B Test Reflection (Functions & Statistics)
A. Evidence of Your Best Thinking
Select two questions from your Unit 2 test that best show your thinking.
- I chose Question 2 from L3 Functions as evidence of my best thinking because in this question I used my knowledge on slope-intercept forms and how to calculate parallel/perpendicular/normal slopes. I calculated the answers correctly and corresponded the right equations to the right diagrams. This showed my understanding of the concept of functions and my constructive thinking.
- I chose Question 5 from L3 Functions as evidence of my best thinking because I provided good reasons on things the character did well and one thing he could improve. After a careful thought process, I was able to accurately pinpoint what was right on the plot and which points were correctly placed and which ones weren’t so accurate, I used critical thinking to solve this.
B. Skills Reflection
Complete each sentence honestly and thoughtfully.
- Throughout Unit 2, I improved the most at finishing my homework. I submitted all my homework on time with a high accuracy. The homework wasn’t really hard but I had a clear schedule and always knew when the homework was due so that my active learning grade would be good.
- One skill from this unit that I still need to work on is making more quality work like the Piecewise Function Project and double checking. On most projects, I can get a solid meeting but I want to have higher expectations for myself so I can get a better score. Improving the quality would be like spending more time carefully reading the instructions, looking closely at the rubric, aiming for an exceeding etc. For double checking, I missed some questions on the test due to me thinking I finished them but I hadn’t, that made my score worse, so I should be less careless.
- The biggest challenge for me on this assessment was the L4 part where you had to plot the line of best fit and its points onto an actual plot, I worked on it for a solid 20 minutes but the answer still didn’t seem right to me, so eventually I ran out of time.
- One strategy that helped me on this test was focusing on the test and taking time to read each question carefully. This way I can fully understand each question and helped me answer more questions carefully with more thought out strategies.
Part 2: Goal Reflection & End-of-Semester Check-In
A. Looking Back at Your Last Goal
Last unit, you set this goal: ‘In the next unit, I want to be able to do all my homework on time and complete my work without procrastinating. ‘
- How well did you work toward this goal?
☐ Very well☐Somewhat ☐ I struggled with this
- What helped you make progress toward this goal? I made progress by writing down a schedule to remind me when things are due, this made me more organized. I managed to finish all or most homework in this unit, and had a high accuracy on the homework. I didn’t procrastinate as much, I always did it on the second day though.
- What got in the way of this goal (if anything)?
B. End-of-Semester Self Reflection
- List three strengths you have shown last semester: Perseverance, when I met a challenging question I try to do it to the best of my ability. Efficiency, I always try to complete assignments quick and productive. Open-minded, when I see a question I try to think of many ways to find the answer.
- List three areas you still want to improve: Procrastination, I finish the homework on time but I want to try to achieve it on projects too. Responsibility, keeping a clear idea of what I need to review and being responsible for my grades and preparation for tests. Organization, organize my math homework and papers so it isn’t crumpled at the bottom of my backpack.
C. New Academic Goal Moving Forward
In the next unit I want to complete projects with higher completion rates and aim for achieving exceedings. Something that might get in the way of this goal is me not having enough time to make a super high quality project as I’m a very busy person but I should try my best. If I get stuck or need help I will seek guidance from my teachers and ask what I can do to make this project better so I can achieve exceedings and better grades.
Our Completed Project:
Reflections:
1. Describe your story and what real-life situation it modeled?
Our story is about a city’s bike share program, it models the cost over time as the person continues to use the bike. In real life Shanghai, we can often see yellow or blue bikes on the streets for rental and those make traveling from one place to another a lot easier, because they have a much lower price compared to taxis or Ubers. We wanted to use this because we thought it would make an interesting story and there’d be a lot of questions we could think of.
2. What part of your project are you most proud of? Why?
I think I’m most of proud of the explanation part, I wrote a clear explanation with few errors, I also clearly showed the function notations. I’m also proud of the graph I drew because it helped me to explain this question better.
3. What was the hardest part of creating your piecewise function?
I think the hardest part of creating my piecewise function was finding a solid story and a good question to use. We brainstormed several ideas, and I think that’s the part we took the most time on. Another hard part was not getting the data wrong, I had to redrew the graph 3 times because we kept on chnaging ideas for the pricing for it to make the most sense.
4. If you could revise one part of this project, what would you improve and how?
If I was to revise one part of this project I would change the questions and slightly fix the story a bit. As the story we used at the end was good but there were a couple loopholes and some parts that didn’t entirely make sense.
5. What did this project help you understand better about piecewise functions?
This project helped me understand that piecewise functions are made up of different rules that apply to different intervals of the input. Instead of one formula working for all values, each piece describes a specific situation or condition. It also helped me review these new points and helped my learning.
Audience Insight: What key message do you want your audience to understand about you as they view your artwork? How did you communicate this message?
I want the audience to understand my interests and possibly personality.
In this painting I used elements such as collages, color choice, spray paint and digital art. The collages show objects that mean different things, the headphones show my love for music, music connects to my interest in violin, and it has been a major part of my life since I was young. Another example, the seal plushie with the two stars on it’s head was a way of demonstrating my creativity, this seal is in fact an oc of mine and it shows silliness and seems to radiate positivity. The video game controller shows how gaming is also one of my interests. I used colors like yellow orange and red for the spray painting background, this demonstrates my personality and gives a rather warm feeling to the artwork that contrasts the blue color of my persona.

Risk and Experimentation: During the creation of your artwork, how did you take risks and experiment in order to effectively express your intended message?
During the creation of my artwork, I was experimenting when I was spray painting my canva’s background, as I didn’t know which colors to choose so I chose some bold colors and decided to try layering them. This later on effectively expressed my intended message of diversity as each color on my piece demonstrates a different meaning. I also experimented with collages and using different parts of newspapers for intended colors. I also took a risk when I decided to use contrasting colors for my spray paint background and the digital painting, because I didn’t know if it would look good, but it turned out really well and it brought out the details like the collages more and the digital painting stands out.
1. Cultural Influence on Aesthetic Choices
After meeting Kool Koor and learning about his artistic journey, how do you think his background in the graffiti culture of the Bronx influenced his aesthetic choices in the techniques and styles he demonstrated?
His background in the graffiti culture of the Bronx influenced his aesthetic choices in techniques such as old self-expression, improvisation, and visual impact. For example, his use of dynamic lines, layered textures, and abstract lettering reflects graffiti’s emphasis on movement and rhythm. traits that originated from tagging trains and walls in urban spaces. The bright, high-contrast color schemes he uses also echo the energy and urgency of street art, designed to stand out in the city’s landscape. Moreover, graffiti’s spirit continue to impact his work he often blends spray paint with fine art media, merging street aesthetics with gallery sensibilities.
2. Environmental Impact on Art Creation
Considering Kool Koor’s shift from street art to studio work, how do you think different environments (like the streets versus a classroom) impact an artist’s creative process and choices? In what ways did you feel these environmental influences while trying out his painting style?
It can affect an artist’s creative processes by such as on the streets, the noisiness and the spontaneous like environment might act as a source of inspiration for the artist, any single small thing could be inspiration. Also all the work is done under time pressure or social tension, This setting encourages freedom, risk-taking, and expressive, high-energy movements. Kool Koor’s early work in the Bronx graffiti scene, for example, was shaped by the urban landscape, loud colors, and the need to make a strong visual impact quickly. By contrast, the studio or classroom environment offers time, focus, and control. It allows for reflection, layering, and experimentation with detail. When Kool Koor moved his practice indoors, his work became more abstract and refined, he seemed to explore form, balance, and structure without the urgency or unpredictability of the streets.
3. Personal Reflection on Aesthetic Development
What aspects of your culture or environment do you think will influence your future artistic choices for your self-portrait mixed media artwork? How can you incorporate elements from your own background into your artwork to express your unique identity?
My aspects of culture and environment might influence the colors I choose for my self portrait mixed media artwork. I can incorporate elements such as the interest I have, or things I like onto the artwork through abstract forms or shapes. I wanted to have a couple elements like music notes to show my love for music, listening to it and playing it. Use materials that represent your surroundings (like newspaper, fabric, or natural objects), include symbols or imagery from your culture, such as traditional designs, language, or meaningful objects, choose a color scheme or composition that reflects your emotions or the atmosphere of where you live or combine photographs or textures that tell my personal story.
Select two questions from the Unit 1 Celebration of Learning that reflect your best thinking in this unit:
1. I chose Question 1 as evidence of my best thinking because this question shows my understanding towards transformations and rotation of quadrilaterals. I showed my workings and steps clearly, I described with mathematical precision. I used critical thinking as well
2. I also chose Question 8 as evidence of my best thinking because in this critical thinking question I labeled all the triangles with correct sides and angles, I used precise math language and justified which triangle is the imposter. I showed my understanding of congruent triangles and the identifying using SAS, ASA, and AAA/ SSS postulates.
3. Throughout this unit, I improved the most at dilations, transformations and rotations of shapes. I also improved on finding out if triangles are congruent or not through using theorems/postulates. I feel that I still need to work on my negative dilations, sometimes I don’t do it right and get the wrong point as my final answer. List three of your strengths so far this year, my ability to learn quickly, I can focus fully in class making me fairly efficient on work, and being able to complete classwork on time and staying on task. List three things you want to improve on in the next unit. I should work on handing my work on in time as sometimes I procrastinate and don’t finish in time, improve on studying more for tests not always prepared, making sure to work even faster in class.
7. Create an academic goal by completing the sentences and answering the questions.
In the next unit, I want to be able to do all my homework on time and complete my work without procrastinating. What might get in the way of this goal? Perhaps the fact that procrastinating has become a habit for me and I find it hard to focus at home. What can I do if I get stuck or need help? I can schedule myself and have better time management, incorporating a list might help as then I wouldn’t forget either and have a constant reminder that i have something due soon or tomorrow.
Sticker Project:

Share what you liked about this project and what you wish was different:
I liked making the sticker overall, we had plentiful time to make blueprints and designs and I didn’t feel rushed at all. The blueprint I made had most of my transformations and I made 3 drafts for my sticker, one sketch, one for the paper version and a digital version on Procreate. If I had more time, I would use more composite transformations and make a different design with more details so I would have more to talk about in transformations, dilations and rotations wise.
In what ways can an exhibition influence the ideas, beliefs, and experiences of an audience?
Exhibitions can influence the ideas, beliefs, and experiences of an audience by giving off a feeling, or the way that it’s created makes the audience feel a certain way. That might influence the ideas of an audience, maybe through letting the audience wonder how the art was created, when, and why.
Consider…
• the activities you engaged in.
I watched videos on how ‘The Wall’ was created and it provided me with many ideas and it changed how I looked at the art, it wasn’t just bottle caps stuck together with other recyclable things and wire, it the paradoxical nature of barriers, it showed culture and feelings too.
• your peers’ experiences around you.
My peers were respectful of the artwork, and I worked with them to look at the art, reflect and wonder about how it was made and why, the purpose of it. My peers would discuss with me and we would sometimes even try to sketch it, to have a better feel of what emotions it’s supposed to contain.
• the intentions of the exhibition curator (curatorial statements on the walls and the website.)
The curators placed the art in a way that it was categorized and sequential, it was supposed for the audience to feel a certain way after looking at all of it through this order. For example, we saw a section that had art/sculptures of deities, gods, mythology related such, we started thinking they were just typical ancient art but as we progressed it got more majestic and there weren’t just art, there were also sculptures. The intentions of the curatorial statements on the wall would also affect the tone, as there were some statements that involved engagement with the art.

My sketchbook reflection on how I viewed El Anatsui’s art and after. His art was truly majestic to look art and I was inspired by his dedication and how it was made. The bottle caps combined together with wire to make a metallic looking cloth was fascinating to me.

Reflection: In this unit, we learned about table tennis, such as serving and doing basic shots, or returning the ball to the opponent. This unit spanned over six weeks, it was a fairly enjoyable unit, we played singles and doubles. Something I did well was I was able to learn quickly and my ability to play table tennis was better, my served were more clean and fast, something I should work on is making sure I don’t hit the ball out of bounds often, improving my accuracy, speed and strength of my hits. Overall, this unit enhanced my skills of being able to play table tennis, I had fun playing with my friends.
Still a work in progress, so it has a blank space in the middle.

- A reflection about your artistic process, artistic intentions for your artwork (connections to your identity, use of design strategies, and/or how you have met the Creating standard), and any other information that feel is important to share about your artwork.
At first, I didn’t have a lot of ideas what I was gonna make my sketchbook cover on. But later, I decided to make what I wanted to show about myself. I drew the butterfly first, the butterfly is a symbol of hope and new beginnings. Perhaps the idea came to me because I always was hopeful things will get better and better. The pink ribbon was to show my compassion towards others most of the time, and love for my family. The music notes weaving through the other arts, show how music has has affected huge parts of my life, through listening to it and bonding with my friends, to playing the violin since I was 7 and it being a major part of my life now. After, on the left middle side you can see a violin made in watercolor, violin is one of my passions and I really enjoy playing it. Below the violin you’ll see an alien space ship, it’s symbolizing my silliness and those cute little things you see there are a part of my ocs. Below them you’ll see a poolroom like place, I always had a fascination for liminal spaces and dreamcore, like backrooms, games, and music. Beside it you’ll see some sports I do like figure skating and badminton. The biggest art I would say would be the girl, it shows a rainbow pastel colored girl with a pencil art underneath, this shows the two sides of me, I could be bubbly and fun to be around. Talking about small decorations, the rainbow star above is to symbolize the emotions I feel, and how I like all the colors of the rainbow. The Among Us sticker reminds me of Covid, during that time I played a lot of it, and made tons of friends, it’s a memory I treasure and won’t forget. Actually thinking about it now, my sketchbook cover might be finished, the blank space symbolizes my future and the limitless possibilities to them, I have to paint my own future, and become who I want to be, maybe then I’ll finish the blank space and fill it in..
Explain the game you created. Include a picture of your advertisement.
The game we created is called Russian Roulette, in which basically it involves a revolver, and one bullet is put into one of the six chambers, the chamber cylinder is then spun, and then aimed at the player, the player pulls the trigger and had a 1/6 chance of being shot. But as we could not use actual guns for the project, we made a gun model and put out a spinner that was seperated into 6 parts, one part having a skull which means death, to modify it further we decided that the player would continue spinning the wheel if he/she is alive after the current round, the amount of the times you survived decides the prize you will recieve. Surviving one round gives you a ducky, third prize, surviving two times is second prize, a snack (oreos, lollipops, candy), surviving six times will reward you with the first prize which is a plushie. Below is advertisement poster:

How did you and your partner(s) work on creating the game? Did any conflicts arise? If so, how did you work through them?
I worked pretty well with my partners, they were very talented in making crafts, and we decided the idea for the game together. No conflicts came up, we shared the work equally, and the prizes were purchased by me and Kristin, Lilian worked on the gun model.
What went well during the Probability Fair? What would you change to improve it?
Mostly everything went well, besides from when Ms Ari told us to change our game due to the gun model being violent. We had to change to a card game, and our prizes were running out too.
Compare the experimental probability to the theoretical probability.
The experimental probability was in fact 18% while the theoretical is 16.67%.
If you did not keep track of the wins and losses, estimate the experimental probability based on the prizes you gave away.
I estimate that we gave away at least 7 big prizes, 50 snacks, and 30 ducks, there’s a lot of people who also got nothing. We did at least 100 games over the span of 2 hours ish.
