Apprenticeship Reflections

Creative Learner

Creating an AI self-portrait was a fun and interesting experience. I loved how technology could turn my ideas into a picture of myself. As I picked colors and styles that I liked, it made me think about who I really am.

Seeing how the AI interpreted my choices surprised me. It showed me things about myself that I hadn’t really noticed before. This made me reflect on how I show myself to others.

I realized that while the portrait was made by a machine, it still represented me in a unique way. This experience helped me appreciate how technology can work with personal expression. Overall, it was a cool mix of creativity and innovation.

Critical thinker

For critical thinker, I had made a world with only 20 words and made a paragraph about it. It made me think carefully about what really mattered. Each word had to count, showing big ideas and feelings in a simple way. This exercise taught me how to write clearly and creatively while staying focused. It was surprising to see how much I could express with so few words. I learned that sometimes, saying less can be more powerful. This experience will help me in future writing, as I aim to keep things simple but meaningful. Overall, it was a great way to explore the art of storytelling.

Resilience

Eating a salmon bagel mindfully was a delightful experience. As I took my first bite, I focused on the flavors and textures—the creaminess of the cheese, the richness of the salmon, and the crunch of the bagel. I slowed down, savoring each mouthful, which made the meal more enjoyable and satisfying. This practice of mindfulness helped me appreciate the food not just as fuel, but as a sensory experience.

In addition to mindful eating, I embraced mindful walks. During these walks, I paid attention to my surroundings—the rustling leaves, the chirping birds, and the feeling of the ground beneath my feet. This awareness brought a sense of calm and connection to nature, enhancing my overall well-being.

After completing a survey that revealed my strength as love, I created a mind map to visualize its many aspects. I explored how love manifests in my life—through relationships, compassion, and acts of kindness. This creative process helped me understand the importance of love in my daily interactions and how it shapes my identity. Overall, these mindful practices and reflections have deepened my appreciation for life’s simple joys and the connections that enrich my experiences.

Skillful Communicator

Creating a guide on how to use Snapchat was an engaging and informative project. I aimed to break down the app’s features in a clear, user-friendly way. By thinking from the perspective of a new user, I identified common challenges and questions. I structured the guide step by step, covering everything from setting up an account to using filters and sending snaps. This process not only reinforced my understanding of the app but also honed my ability to communicate complex information simply. I felt a sense of accomplishment knowing my guide could help others navigate this popular platform.

In addition to the guide, I wrote a story about kindness. This narrative allowed me to explore the theme deeply, showcasing the impact of small acts of generosity in everyday life. I crafted relatable characters and situations that highlighted how kindness can ripple through a community. Writing this story was a fulfilling experience, as it reminded me of the importance of empathy and compassion in our interactions.

Effective Collaborator

I listened and analysed a cover song of Three Hours by Nick Drake’s cover of “Three Hours” is a beautiful and emotional version of the original song. In this rendition, Drake’s gentle voice and fingerpicking guitar create a haunting atmosphere that draws listeners in. The song talks about feelings of longing and how quickly time passes, which many people can relate to.

Drake’s relaxed style makes the lyrics feel personal and intimate, as if he’s sharing his own thoughts with us. The simplicity of the music lets the message shine through, reminding us of moments we cherish and the sadness of losing them.

Overall, “Three Hours” captures the bittersweet nature of life and love, making it a memorable part of Drake’s music. It’s a song that stays with you, inviting you to reflect on your own experiences with time and relationships.

AI Goal 🤓👌

The goal I chose is to use ai as a learning tool, but always try to understand and do the work on my own. The best way I can explain to others that I had reached this goal is by showing the evidence of My own writing and the ethical AI usage. In order to keep this specific goal, I will talk with my friend about my specific goal. I had been writing a passage with him, and we can continue writing by ourselves to avoid using AI.

Finding Credible Sources🫣

Sometimes when you are struggling to find sources, it might be tempting to use AI to help. AI might not be easy and good to credit, because not all information from AI might be credible to use. If you want to write more accurate research papers, credibility is always more important over convenience. Instead, use SAS databases.

What I’m Looking forward to in HS 🫣

The nine trip is definitely something to look forward to. The entire grade is going there, and I don’t know what to expect. My friends all chose me for a roommate, and I would be ok with any of them.  I can’t wait to see what adventures tomorrow will bring. Yangzhou has exceeded all my expectations, and I feel so fortunate to be experiencing its timeless beauty and charm firsthand. This is a trip I’ll remember for the rest of my life.

Im also looking forward to all the opportunities in high school and the future events that will happen. Freshmen year is supposed to me the most relaxed year in high school, so I’m going to try to enjoy it.

Highschool needs to be more organized so i need to become more organized. I will do this by putting my work in individual folders and writing my homework down in my laptop

Welcome to Your New Portfolio!

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?

Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.  When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
  • Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
