Apprenticeship Activities Reflection

Creative Learner

I created a short video about the daily life of a teenager. This was fun to make, and became a good source for adults to get an understanding of what we do, think, and feel on a regular daily basis.

Effective Collaborator

I created a new fitness routine emphasizing calisthenics and boxing. This increased my overall fitness and became an effective use of my time, but it also bolstered my mentality, as it wasn’t easy to stay consistent, and stick to the routine.

Critical Thinker

I played the Gomuku and Nim games with my friends. This helped me not only connect with those friends, and build upon those friendships, but it also helped my work out my brain, as the game required focus and concentration.

Skillful Communicator

I created a speech, which I gave to my family, convincing them to buy me a moped, which I can use to get to places quicker. This helped my communication skills, and I learnt how to persuade people using body language expressions.

Resilient

I practiced a new skill. That skill was calisthenics, it helped increase my fitness, while also helping me find inner peace. Resilience played a huge role in this, as I struggled to maintain consistency and motivation, but I ended up persevering and completing this task.

Reflection | Resilient | Speed

For the resilient section, the skill I practiced was running speed. This skill consisted of daily exercises to boost explosiveness, acceleration, and maintain high speed. To practice this, I did plyometrics, along with long range sprints, short range sprints, and consecutive sprints (back and forth).

How to Prevent AI From Taking Over

Goal Card: I will stay in the habit of verifying AI-Generated information using multiple credible sources.

Commitment Card: I will talk to peers to help me make sure I am still on track.

Clarification Card: I have made a lot of progress towards my goal

Zoom Activity

I was a critical thinker when trying to find a connection between the pictures my classmates had.

I was an effective collaborator when we all had to line up in the right oder.

I demonstrated traits of a skillful communicator when interacting with classmates to find the right order between the images.

I was a creative learner because we had to think outside the box to find the specific order, since every image was very different from one another.

I was resilient because at the start the activity seemed impossible, but since we kept trying, we finally got the right oder.

Critical Thinker

I chose critical thinking for my card because it is about when it is a good time to use AI, and obviously for the right reasons. I use AI around once a month, and it is not usually related to schoolwork, but I think this is an efficient way to control AI usage for other 9th Graders at SAS. However, as a high schooler, it is obvious that I will soon need to use AI much more often. When the time comes, I will make sure I am only using it for inspiration, and keep my ideas and style to keep my work original and unique. Even though my AI-related goals do not yet connect to my current skills, I believe they will because apart from being unique, I will also need to practice it in order to improve, not by using AI to do it for me, limiting all areas which need improvement. To conclude, when I finally start using AI more often, I will achieve these goals by reflecting on all instances where I use AI, and make sure none of it is being inputted to my own work, and that it is purely for inspiration.

How to Use Technology (Takeaway from Today)

Goal Card: I will stay in the habit of verifying AI-Generated information using multiple credible sources.

Commitment Card: I will talk to peers to help me make sure I am still on track.

Clarification Card: I have made a lot of progress towards my goal when I follow its guidelines.

TTG Category (Skillful Communicator): I know that my actions, both online and offline, affect my personal reputation as well as the representation of others, and the communities to which I belong. 🫡

My Portfolio

⚽️🃏🪄

In middle school, I wish I had known how to not procrastinate at all and be on top of everything at all times. During middle school, I had problems with my homework, I was lazy, and didn’t have any motivation to do it. This summer, I worked on a specific skill that now helps me succeed, in school, football, and life overall.

One of my biggest strengths is, as I hinted before, turning in my assignments on time. Now, and unlike before, I turn in everything on time. However, something I can improve on is organization. An app to help me put all of my to-dos in order.

I am looking forward to the end of the semester, to see if my hard work (extra studying) paid off. However, something else I am looking forward to is varsity football. I want to test my skills with older and bigger people, and get some harder competition in the cross-river event.

Citations are crucial to anyone, however, there is a larger impact for scholar-adventurers. It is mostly for the reader to verify that your writing is original, and to check the accuracy of your sources.
