The purpose for this portfolio was that it helped me learn about how we can identify healthy and unhealthy things in a relationship from a movie or TV show. This project shows our understanding of what is a healthy relationship versus a unhealthy relationship.
One of the most important ideas that I learnt in this unit is that consent is very important in a relationship. If consent is not given, then you are not allowed to to the thing that the person didn’t agree to. Boundaries are also important. If set boundaries are crossed, then it is a huge red flag. Not communicating well enough in a relationship can also cause there to be misunderstandings as well as confusion, which can lead to an unhealthy relationship.
I chose this because it shows the most about what I did and how well I did during the Socratic Seminar. It also shows the difference between me and the average of the whole class.
What this shows me about me as a communicator is that, it shows that I can understand when I need to stop speaking and when to start speaking. It also shows my awareness of being able to know how much I have spoken and a number of times that I have spoken

I used to think that mental health wasn’t as important as physical health and that mental health shouldn’t get as much attention as physical health should. I thought that mental health meant the mental state that a person is in currently and how well they’re doing mentally. I assumed that mental health did not include disorders and that it was only state of a person’s wellbeing.
My thinking has changed due to the information that I researched about, especially during the research for my mental health research presentation project. I learnt that anxiety was a mental health issue and that people could actually be diagnosed with it. I also learned that anxiety is a serious issue that can be both a feeling and a mental health disease that people have to deal with everyday.
The thing that surprised me most was that ignoring mental health was like ignoring a person’s physical injury. For example, if someone were to ignore a person with anxiety, then it can be compared to if someone were to ignore a person with a physical injury. I also discovered that people tend to treat mental disorders like an easy thing to deal with as people like to tell the people who have anxiety that it’s not a real disorder, and that they should just stop being lazy. This can be compared to a person telling someone with a broken leg to walk and they should just stop trying to act hurt. This helped me learn that mental health issues are hard to spot and deal with.

Something that went well for me was that I was able to find something that I enjoyed learning about, as well as something was researchable. This really helped me focus during work time because I was passionate about this topic, so that helped me work faster than normal.
Something that didn’t go well was the research because I got stuck on some of the steps and I was behind the rest of the class for a while. I also struggled with time management, as I kept on getting stuck on finding sources that I could actually use in my research which caused me to have limited time to work on the poster. The poster wasn’t organized and wasn’t the most visually appealing due to the lack of time I had to work on the final project.
Something I could improve on, is to ask the teacher more questions. The teacher is busy answering question from other students during class time so I think I could’ve taken action towards my learning by emailing the teacher. This would’ve helped me in many parts of the first unit and that could’ve prevented me from falling behind and rushing through the poster.
Part 1
Hypothesis: I believe that the app will help me remember things, and help me become more organized in the 7 days that I will be using it. I think that I will be able to effectively use the app, and apply all of the uses of it into my daily life.
One of the outcomes I expect is that I complete this, and it helps me remember my homework. It ends up benefiting me, and it in the end I become more productive. The second outcome I see is that I end up not really listening to the app, or just not evening using it that much. Then I become less productive, procrastinate, and for things, as well as hand in all my homework late. The third outcome I see is that I use it, but it still didn’t improve my work ethic, and did not help me in finishing my work on time, as well as reminding me on tasks I need to do..
I am going to measure my goal by comparing how much homework I remember now and how much time I spend on it from 7-10 days ago and compared to now.
Part 2
Functionality and Usefulness
It helps me remember important things like homework, important events, certain dates, and other things I need to do. The app’s design itself doesn’t have very bright color, instead wants to actually benefit you in your goals. It also isn’t very addicting as the app just has an add date button, and a few other features that don’t really make you want to stay on the platform for long periods of time. It’s basically just a app that reminds you on what to do, and when to do it. The app isn’t very interesting, as there is nothing but a black screen with a few features that help you remember events or important dates that. The hypothesis did not prove to be true as the app is not as beneficial as I thought it would’ve been. It is also not very helpful because it doesn’t show the work done before last week as you need Pro for that. I think the companies main strategy of earning money is to rely on people buying the Pro version.

Design
Although the name and icon of the app might be goofy, but it is still a app that will be able to help you in the end, and is a beneficial app overall. Even though the app can be beneficial, there are just much better options out there for people who want to remember events, deadlines, and other important dates. The name and the app logo could just be a way to attract people, as they still need people to use their app. The app’s limitations are that, it isn’t that useful as there are plenty of other softwares that can help people remember things, and it just isn’t that interesting overall.

I chose the Critical Thinking -Meeting Checklist, as the best evidence of my best thinking, because I received a 3 on i. I showed all of my work and my mathematical thinking to create answers that were the best of my ability.
I also chose question 8 as another good piece of evidence of my thinking. This is because I showed critical thinking and mathematical precision while also getting all of the steps correct. The only thing that I could’ve improved on was to label it. Since I needed to add the center of dilation into my description, as I could’ve gotten a 4 if I did.
Throughout this unit I improved the most at my understanding of rigid transformations and improved on using mathematical precision in my work.
I feel like I still need to work on being able to map the steps of transformations in my head, as I still have trouble trying to imagine the transformations without having to use trace paper.
I’m good at applying all of the information that I learnt during the unit to all of the work that I do. I am also good at using formulas to make calculating for the answers easier. The last strength that I have is my active learner skills, as I have improved massively on handing in my work on time, as well as being able to try to best in all of the work that I do.
I still need to improve on showing my work, as sometimes my work only makes sense to me and doesn’t make sense for any other people who check it. I also need to improve on not making small mistakes. For example, I made a small mistake on the 8th question of the test which caused me to not get an exceeding on my test. The final thing that I look to improve on in the future, is to be able to collaborate with different classmates better, and to engage in conversations with all students.
In the next unit, I want to become better at spending more time on math, and spend more time to practice math, so that I can be more prepared for tests and be able to get exceedings. This is important because I am looking to be able to get into IM2 next year in highschool, as if I don’t, then it will be very hard for me to catch up.
After school activities can get in the way of things, as I am completely filled with other classes during the week, so it can be a problem for me to be able to hand in my assignments on time.
I can ask for help from my teachers, and I can also take action towards my learning by asking my classmates for help.
I learned that language is very important in communication and all of the parts of speeches are key to making sentences grammatically correct. I also learnt that without communication, most things won’t be possible, and that it is very important factor in our daily life.
I think that my alien dialogue post is the best piece that show my growth throughout the unit because it shows my understanding of all the parts of speech, and how I can use it to teach the alien to speak.
Parts of the brain
This unit was about stress management, and how the brain works under stress, as well as other topics related to the brain, and stress. Something that I learned from this unit, was that the amygdala, is the part of the brain, that triggers the FFF (fight, flight, freeze) response. This part of the brain can trigger falsely when working under too much stress. This happens, because the other part of the brain; the hippocampus, stores memories and tells the brain, what is good, and what is bad. This can make the brain think that stressful memories are dangerous, and trigger falsely under pressure. This will harm the brain, and will make people lash out from a sudden burst of emotion. This can happen due to the small things in a person’s day. For example, maybe you had a question, but the teacher didn’t call on you; you might get a little bit annoyed. However, this builds up over time, and it can make people suddenly angry for no reason at all. This can override the prefrontal cortex, the logical part of the brain that make rational decisions, and cause people to not think properly, causing them to lash out. Having too much stress can affect the brain, as it can cause people to become depressed.
Teenager Brain vs Adult Brain
This happens more to teenagers, as their brains are not fully developed. The prefrontal cortex doesn’t finish developing, until age 25. This can cause teenager under the age of 25 to let their emotions control them, and make more rash decisions based on emotions, instead of using the logical part of the brain to make choices. This also affects their life, as teenagers feel more rewarded for things, so it can cause them to find ways to get dopamine. Things life, junk food, video games, or other things can be quick sources of dopamine, that teenagers tend to seek more than adults do. This isn’t always a bad thing though, as teenagers can also learn things faster, because they feel more rewarded for doing things, and can help them thrive in their life. It can also help them adapt better than adults, due to their brains not being fully developed, causing it to be easier to adapt to new environments, or situations.
Ways to cope with stress
There are a lot of ways to cope with stress. These can include options like, meditating, connecting with people close to you, exercising, and eating healthier. Other methods that can calm you down during stressful situations are, deep breathing, and thinking back to the things you learned that can help cope with stress.
For this year in PE I want to improve in being better overall, and just being a better teammate for all team sports. I also want to be able to play every sport as well as try my best for every activity I do.
