Tasty profit project refletion

What did I do?

I was assigned to the Tasty profit project. In this project, I choosed a recipe, convert measurements, document your baking, process with photos, and calculate ingredient costs and servingprices. Finally, l created a catchy bakery name and develop a sales pitch that incorporates the math behind my pricing. This project combines culinary skills with essential math and business concepts.

What did I learn?

There are 7 part in this project. In part one the goal is to Identify Recipes, than part two is to pick a recipe. After that part tree is to convert measurements. Part four is unit price, Par five is batch price. Finnally, part 6 and 7(6~7), part six is costs and seven is sell price. I learned from all the steps before the bake sale

what worked?

It was unexpected because I thought there is not enough ingredient but the reallity is that there is enough ingredient in my home! In addition, when I made it the first time, It was so good.

What did not work?

I think I can work on calculating because I did not finish calculating the profit and the cost of the bags I made. I can also improve on doing my work quickly so I can finish it on time.

Personal relevance

This event could help me in the future because I learn how maket work. For example, I need to calculare the mark up price and what I don’t know is that I needed to add the mark up price to the cost price. I learn many things from this event, it helped a lot.

Unit II – Ötzi Unit Reflection

What did I work on?

I worked on Observations, Inferences and Wonderings, CER Paragraph Writing and Answering and asking, ‘open and closed questions’. Observations, inferences and wondering are basically what I notice, the explanation and what I what to ask. CER paragraph is a paragraph that contains claims, evidence, and reasoning.

What did I learn?

I learned to research an essential question and answers it, the question is “Why should we care about the past?” I think we should care about the past because we learn from the past. For example, making tools, people in the old times could have better and more useful ways, these ways could impact society.

What worked well?

I think the trial about Otzi was very smooth and as a court reporter my job is to take photos. I was not hard and very thing just smooth, lawyers questioning, experts answering. Everyone’s hard work came to the trial, and everyone tried their best, that is the most important thing to me.

What did not work?

I could improve on trying to get harder rows. I want to challenge myself on the next unit because I think I have the ability to do harder rows. I will work harder to challenge myself and improve so I can get a challenging row for the next unit.

Personal Relevance

I think collaborating skills and communication skills are very important for my future. Sometimes, in the future I could work with a group. This is why collaborating skills and communication skills are very important. When you have good collaborating and communication skills, you can let everyone share their thoughts and work effectively.

Soccer reflection

What did we do?

we did a field game called soccer. It is a game when you try to kick into an opposites goal to make points.

What did I learn?

I learn how to drible, pass, shoot and defense. I learned all these things by doing drills like dribling around a cone or passing to another person on the other side. We also played matches and I enjoyed it.

What worked?

I think I worked really well on understanding the game. I also improved on my skills by playing matches because I need to look, drible, pass or shoot.

What did not work?

I think I should work on dribling past people and passing to my teammate because I need to learn team work. I really enjoyed soccer.

PE Swimming reflection

What did I do?

We did swimming, snorkel and how to use snorkel. I also Practiced free style leg and breathestroke sometimes using a noodle

What did I learn?

I learned how to snorkel, beach entry and practiced a lot of other types of swimming skill. For example I practiced free style and breathestroke. sometimes I use noodles to help me but I learned to swim without a noodle.

What worked?

I think what worked really well to me is that I was able to review my swimming skills. I also completed all the task the teacher has given us.

What did not work?

I think one thing that did not work is that I don’t understand how to breath water out of the snorkel when we walked in the pool. At last I overcame it by practicing in class.

Personal relevance

To me I think swimming has a lot of benefits. Due to the internet, swimming improved cardiovascular and respiratory health, full-body muscle strength and toning, and weight management through calorie burning. This is why we should be swimming and I enjoyed swimming a lot.

Egg car reflection

What did I do?

I built an egg car to protect the egg from braking. There is a concrete in the end of the ramp. We only have some A4 paper, wheels and one meter of tape.

What did I learn?

I learned how Newton’s laws applied on the egg car challenge. For example, Newton’s 3rd law it is applied when you build a crumble zone. This means it will make the car slower when it hits the concrete. Newton’s first law is applied then you make a seat belt. The egg wants to move more so a seat belt can stop it from moving.

What worked?

I was able to successfully build a car model with some A4 paper. Me and my partner worked together to build a seat belt.

What did not work?

Me and my partner did not have time to build a crumble zone using A4 paper. Although, we did not make a crumble zone but our egg survived!

Personal relevance

I was able to know how to build a safe car due to Newton’s laws. It is because Newton’s laws explains every thing! It applies to every motion. I think a safe car must contain: seat belt, crumble zone and some kind of controller to slow down.

science unit 2 balloon cart reflection

What did I do?

In science I did a project the balloon cart by using limited materials. We used a plate some wheels and rubber band, of corse a balloon. We needed to put air and releasing in the opposite to let the air push the cart, it is very fun.

What did I learn

I learned about Newton’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd law by connecting with the ballon cart. I will explain how it is connected to Newton’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd law. Newton’s 1st law, law of inertia, an object at motion tends to stay in motion and an object at rest tends to stay at rest unless acted by an unbalanced force which means the balloon cart will stay in motion when the air from the balloon is released unless the frictional force or air force acted oppositely causing it to stop. Newton’s 2nd law, law of acceleration, the greater the mass of the object the more force needed to accelerate the object. For example, if I put washers on the balloon car then I will need more force to push the balloon car forwards. Newton’s 3rd law, law of motion and reaction, every motion has an equal and opposite reaction. Building on that point, the air in the balloon pushes the car because the air release motion reacted on the car causing it to move.

What worked?

I have memorized all Newton’s laws by connecting with the activities we did on class. We had a lot of chances to collaborate with others and I really enjoyed collaborating with others. We also followed the constraints it has and now we are working on making a car that will protect the egg. All of the activity we did is related to Newton’s laws for example the egg car, there will be a concrete in the end of the ramp so Newton’s 3rd law says every action has an equal and opposite reaction, when the car goes down the ramp it speeds up and hits the concrete and reacted on the car which may caused the egg to brake.

What did not work?

I really struggled with concentrating on class but I can improve by focusing on task. I also struggled with understanding the deep meanings, like interia I know what interia means but I can not use it in a certain content.

personal relevance

The balloon car was just like cars in real world, when an adult drives the car it is the same as balloon car releasing air from it. I can see Newton’s laws every where. building on that point, basketball can be a perfect example! When you bounce the ball Newton’s 3rd law says every action has an equal and opposite reaction so the floor reacted on the ball causing it to bounce back. An other example can be driving a bus, Newton’s 2nd law says the greater the mass of the object the more force needed to accelerate the object. In the bus if there is more people than the speed of the car will slow down unless the force increases than it will more faster.

creative writing reflection

what are we doing?

Writing a frictional story based on a theme that matters to me.

What are we learning?

Theme (my purpose for writing this story, my message to readers)

Character Development (creating believable characters with positive & negative traits)

Plot (the sequence of events in my story; Western and Eastern approaches to storytelling)

Setting (the world that I create for my story)

What’s Working?

I enjoy independent reading the most because it is the only time when there is peace so I could be calm and I feel good when there is no sound. I get my story idea from reading keeper of the lost city since there is some similar elements used. I really like my story because I made a cliff hanger in the end.

Areas for Growth

I think the most challenging part is that I need to manage time wisely because I didn’t have enough time to write the whole story but I still managed to made it to the end(not the very end).

Personal Relevance

I think creative writing is really helpful for the future because it can activate my imagination so in real life I could come up more solutions when there is a problem.

Puberty is the time in life when a boy or girl becomes sexually mature.

Why is it important to understand
the changes that occur during
puberty?

It is very important to understand changes in puberty because it involves changes in our own body. If you don’t understand puberty than you don’t know it is normal or not.significant shifts in the body, emotions, and brain that can be confusing or stressful.

What is one aspect of your learning
you want to improve on moving
forward?

I will improve on more focused on class and collaborating with other. Additionally, I also can improve self management like controlling my body movement.

What is the change that you feel
most confident about?

I feel really confident on getting muscles so that I will be stronger. I am also confident about get shoulders broaden because it is cool to get shoulders broaden.

What is the change that you feel
most concerned about?

I am not concerned about changes in my body because I already know what will change so I am not concerned. Furthermore, changes are normal it is just a part of life.

When looking for information online a
how can you ensure it is credible and
appropriate?

No, because some may be fake information but some source is real I recommend bodytalk.org. You can see what it is supported by, if it is some hospital than it is most likely to be true.

All about critical thinking!

What did I do?

I used my critical thinking skills to complete challenges with Indi robot cars and build rollercoasters with Gravitax.

What did I learn

I learned about how I would be graded for Critical Thinking Critical thinking is my ability to solve problems and make the right decisions.

What Worked

I thought critically when I problem solved to the indi car letting it turn, go forwards, slow down, spin or going diagonal. There are also challenges and we solved it in a group.

What did not work

I struggled to build the Gravitax because there wasn’t enough material to build a whole rail, but i still managed to build half in a limited time. I struggled how to fit the rail in the map we had.

I am the person with the white T shirt.

Personal relevant

Today’s learning is like thinking Critically and being creative for example, indi cars contains a lot of thing like which way should they turn and how to get to the end. Today’s learning will help me understand what is critical thinking and how to think critically. It is good for my future because there will be a lot of problem solving which contains critical thinking.

Analyzing characters

what did I do?

I wrote a paragraph analyzing the most significant character trait in a book called keeper of the lost cities.

What did I learn?

I learned to use the book to find evidence to support the paragraph and I use the TOAD method . I also collected the evidence and make it into a pargraph with my method sentence making I used my thoughts and the evidence together to make the story.

What worked?

The thing that worked is that I can succesfully write a paragraph with character traits. I can also explain the charater traits and use the hamburger method. Additionally, I have rich vocabulary that helped a lot.

What did not work?

The thing that not worked is that I need to add more detail in the paragraphs. Secondly, I think I need to work on adding more action and more dialogues. Finally, I think I could improve on identifying more character traits as we wrote the paragraphs.

Personal relevent

I think it is very helpful to analyze character traits and wrote it into paragraphs because in the future you need to write descriptive paragraph so I think it is a good time to develop my skills at writing paragraphs.
