Art: Mixed Media Self-Portrait

some key messages and ideas i want the audience to understand when they see my artwork is what kind of a person i am, what are my passions what i enjoy doing and what i like in general. for example, the flags on the top represents where im from and my nationality, the cartoon characters represents my childhood memories, and the whale shark is one of my favorite animals and i think if i were an animal i would want to be a whale shark.

during the process of making the artwork i had to do some experimenting for the ways i wanted to create the symbols that represent me so theres a lot of different materials and textures to it. for example, first i tried using procreate and screenshots, print them and cut them out, but afterwards i thought it looked really boring, so i started using pictures from newspaper, but i wanted to add more texture so lastly i added paint to paint on the final touches.

Art Kool Koor Visit Workshop

1. Cultural Influence on Aesthetic Choices

Kool Koor’s background in graffiti shaped his style because he uses the same kind of connected lines he used for tagging on walls. His art is layered and busy, making it feel full of energy .doing graffiti taught him how to make his lines all flowy and connected.

2. Environmental Impact on Art Creation

on the outside it may seem more fast and bold, like doing big strokes with spray paint, or tagging it. but moving into the studio they can work slower more detailed and add more complicated layers.

3. Personal Reflection on Aesthetic Development

i can add symbols that represent myself and how i see the world, and the environment. i can incorporate elements like things that matter to me like family friends, and parts of my identity.

Math Unit 1 Reflection

I chose #3 as evidence of my best thinking because it shows that i fully understand the concept for this unit, and i can transform one figure to a similar figure, which is one of the things we practices this unit. another piece of evidence i think shows my best thinking is question #6 because writing triangle proves is another thing we worked on and #6 shows that i understand it and can do it independently.

Throughout this unit, I improved the most at writing transformations because at first in the pretest i didn’t even know what a rigid transformation was. but now i know that a rigid transformation is when you transform something without using a dilation. I feel that I still need to work on some more complex transformation questions, so then i can try out the L4 question as well.

In the next unit, I want to work on understanding everything more in depth and actually understand very well, so i can try out the L4 questions. something that might stop me from doing this might be forgetting to do my homework once or twice.

Orchestra

in orchestra so far this year, we have been playing the 4 pieces for our winter concert. the 4 pieces are overture to lucio cilla, ice sculptures, carol of the bells/green sleeves, and winter with you (which we are going to collaborate with VMM). we have also had 2 formative playing assessments where we worked on spiccato bowing, sitting posture, and bow hold.

Art Unit 3: Exhibition

exhibitions can help us understand artworks better by using colors, textures, materials, shapes, and incorporating culture into artworks. for example in “after the red moon” the wall, it used different materials, like metal pieces and metal wires, this artwork represented the past in Africa. this artwork can also be viewed in different perspective.

exhibitions can also help influence an audience because it can show a timeline. for example the curation of the exhibition “paths to modernity”, at the very bottom floor we can see the more modern artworks that was created more recently, and at the top floor there are artworks that was created in the past by artists in the past like Vincent Van Gogh and other artists. this can also connect to why this exhibition is named “paths to modernity” because it shows the pathway that “art” took to become what it is today.

PE Unit 1: Table Tennis

in this unit we learned and practiced how to play table tennis. first we learn to serve the ball, and then we learned forehand and backhand, and at the end of the unit we played doubles. at the beginning of the unit i only knew how to serve the call with backhand and every time i hit the ball it would bounce very high and it would be very easy for the opponent to score. but after a whole unit of practice, i learned how to serve with forehand and how to hit the ball better.

Sketchbook over

(work in progress)

I chose to use paintings of cartoons to to create my sketchbook cover because not only i love these cartoons and watched them when i was younger, these cartoons can also represent traits of me for example the smurfs can represent the adventuress side of me, and bluey can represent the loving side of me because i love my family and friends.

i incorporated the elements and principles of art by using lines, i outlined all the cartoon characters to make then stand out. i also used symmetry because i put 3 of the artworks on one side and 3 on the other side. and lastly i used a little bit of layering because some of the pictures overlap with each other

Art

in art this year we learn about many things, like how art and math connects and we learned about how to make things with clay.

in this school year i made 2 projects that i’m really proud of. the first one is my clay name plate. we made name plates out of clay and added symbols and colors to represent our traits. in my name plate i added symbols like devil ears to represent sometimes in kind of naughty and crazy, and i also added colors like blue, because i swim.

another project im proud of is the unit that connects with the ttg’s for this unit i chose the ttg zero hunger, and i made to stickers to help people understand the message. i made 1 sticker with a bowl of rice and people reaching for it to represent many people don’t have enough food to eat and they really need food. and the 2nd sticker i made is a chef sharing food with kids that don’t have much food.

Probability Fair Reflection

  • Explain the game you created. Include a picture of your advertisement.

we created a game call the shark game ¾ chance plinko! ½ chance giant coin flip! 2/5 chance shark fishing! a high chance of winning the grand prize!!!!!!!!

  • How did you and your partner(s) work on creating the game? Did any conflicts arise? If so, how did you work through them?

we each a job for example ailiya was in charge of the calculations, and the mystery box game, fiona was in charge of the shark fishing and and the ticket box, and i was in charge of the pliko board and the giant coin flip.

  • What went well during the Probability Fair? What would you change to improve it?

something that went well was there was a lot of people that came to play our game and we all rotated and we also got to play other people’s game. something that could’ve gone better was that there was a couple of people was played our game over and over again for over 10 times.

  • Compare the experimental probability to the theoretical probability.

L3 Unit 6: Interactions of Matter

The simple molecule and extended structure we identified in our apple and pumpkin pie is sugar and starch. The simple molecule we identified is sugar, and the extended structure we identified is starch. I also learned about physical and chemical change, physical change is change in size, change in state, and change in shape. And chemical change is creating a new substance, for example there is a new smell. If theres something i could’ve done better is studying more for the quiz.
