Collaboration
For the collaboration section, I did the Zoom challenge the tower building and the build and the bridge out of paper. For the Zoom challenge, the whole class worked together to solve a puzzle. We got images and each image was an image inside another image, and we had to figure out who in which order it was zoomed in. The other task was the tower building and I did it with Jiren. I was the one who put the sticks together, and Jiren secured the base. We built the tower successfully but then it fell before we could take a picture of it and we had a backup tower. I worked alone on the bridge of paper, but a few friends helped me. I think I was helpful to the overall success of our tasks since active in participating. If we disagreed with something, we usually just talked it out, but if we couldn’t, we would play a game of rock paper scissors to decide which idea we would use.
Communication
Communication we did a murder mystery with Jason Jiren and Alex. The goal was to not talk to each other and still figure out the story but it was too difficult so we ended up just talking to each other and figuring it out. In middle school, we would probably mess around and joke around most of the time but now we did the work and completed the task. Another communication task we did was the ES library visit. It is challenging to get the elementary kids to listen to you. I don’t think the kids like me because they kept going to the other other people.
Creativity
Jiren and I created an intro into a horror film for the creativity task. We spent most of the time planning out the scene, but less time filming it. There were many challenges like getting the sound and the video to match. This is because we had to film the audio record the audio and film the video at different times. The most time was spent on editing, and I think the result was very nice.
Critical Thinking
for critical thinking, I did the Moku with Jaron and the survival items list. I started off thinking I was gonna lose to Jiren since he was a better player, but I won in the end because Jiren failed to predict my move. Critical thinking is learning to question yourself, and the survivalist game is a very good example of that. I had to pick from a list of 30 items to rate from 1-30. 1 as very important and 30 as very not important. I had to think about what I needed to survive but not what I wanted. This is sometimes difficult because we often think of objects we want as objects we need.
Resilience
Resilience is never giving up and always persisting through challenges. Learning how to be resilient now prepares us for the future, where there are much more challenging tasks we need to do. For example in my physical computing class, we had a project where we had to build a box that did a task. My box would shoot a ball out of it if you threw a ball inside it. I went to hours after school trying to find the problem because it wouldn’t work. But eventually, I figured out the problem and solved the problem with the help of Mr. Kilgore.
