In this unit we learned about scaled drawings and proportional relationships between different shapes. This is the first time I learned skill drawings and finding relationships between shapes. There were important vocabulary that was important in the unit. Some are scaled copies and proportion. This is important in real life because there might be times where you have to compare to things to see if they are equal or not.
I am proud of improving my grade📈 from the last test. I tried my best to explain and analyze the story as deep as possible and trying a new type of Dystopian Annotation. I kind of followed the rubric because I tried to include things required. I think I did particularly well was adding➕ evidence that proved my point very well.
Some challenges❗️ that I faced was conventions. I used the colons in the incorrect way. You should actually add the colon if it is a complete sentence in the front. Another challenge was explaining the reasoning behind in a better way. Even though I improved, I could dig deeper and that was pretty challenging.
I would first change the colons into the correct ✅ position and way and maybe also adding a few commas in advance. Second, finding a strong second evidence is also important and I should take more time searching for one. I think if I reread📖 my writing, it would also be better because maybe I could identify🔎 the mistakes and add something to it.
I will work on the bot as often as I can to learn ways to dig deeper, use conventions in the right way, and finding useful yet powerful evidence. A specific bot that I will work on is the CERER and the convention ones. I could also ask questions to the teacher whenever I am stuck to help me.
I would advise myself to manage my time better when I am practicing and ask questions to the bot. I would also try to explore different kinds of bots🤖 to help me with different standards.
During art class, we made a clay sculpture representing our identity. I made a miniature version of our living room. I used warm colors like yellow🟡 and light blue🩵 to make the artwork feel peaceful and nice. I also added black lines in the edges of the wall and places that are connecting. The purpose of that is so that people can see better where boarders between walls and the floor is. It can also have kind of a 3D effect on the audience🍿. I carefully painted the edges of the furniture of the house even though I couldn’t get to some parts. Making the structure of the artwork has a little challenging since it could fall down🪨 anytime if it wasn’t attached well. The other piece was the tile that we were making a few months ago🗓️. I carefully carved on the thin clay to make different kinds of textures. I made some kind of low reliefs, a lot of mid relief, and some high relief. I carved patterns vertically and also made a flower🌸 in the middle. This artwork looked really nice and I think it stands out more when I added the light blue color to the rim of the tile.
The other⎘ artwork is the one that I have been working on recently. It is a graffiti art that has my name on it. I drew a variety of different icons and symbols to represent myself. I chose green and yellow as the main color of the background. I first made a simple sketch of my name on the rough paper and then started to use the special pens to make my artwork look 👀 colorful🌈. I also added little details like the stars⭐️ and hearts❤️ to the letters A, a, and e. I am proud of this piece because I put a lot of handwork to this and I really enjoy the graffiti unit(especially the drawing✏️ name section).
First, my final clay piece(the living room) reflect🪞on my identity because it is what the living room looks like(kind of). I shows my warmth toward my family and the house I’ve lived in for more than 🔟 years. As I move throughout my journey going to different places, that clay piece would always remind me of the place that I cherished. The next clay piece is my tile. It strongly shows my identity of loving nature🌿 and flowers. The red flower in the middle reflects how me and my grandmother used to collect flowers and put them in a plastic bottle. The leaves and detailed techniques also showed how I enjoy different kinds of plants🪴.
Next is my graffiti name drawing. It clearly showed my identity through symbols and icons surrounding the letters of my name. The first symbol is the paint splotches. They symbolize how I loved art since I was small and liked to especially paint. It also shows my journey through art that I faced since elementary school. The second symbol is the badminton racket🏸 and floor hockey stick🏒. They represent the sorts that I loved to play(even though I am not very good). They collect memories of me playing badminton with my friend and first encountering floor hockey in PE lessons. The third symbol is the music notes 🎶that have different meanings towards me. The first thing it represents is how I love to listen music and feel the instruments and special effects✨ used in the tune. The next meaning is how I learned a lot of different instruments before like piano🎹, hulls(葫芦丝(a traditional Chinese instrument)), and the trumpet🎺. I started playing the piano when I was very small and eventually stopped. I also learned how to play the Hulusi from my grandma. Lastly, I’ve always wanted to play the trumpet since I was young so I joined the 5th grade band in SAS. However, I stopped playing it because it was too hard. The fourth symbol is the flowers and leaves tangled around the letters l and e. Like the clay tile, it showed how I adore plants and flowers💐. The symbols connect me to nature and flowers I like. I used some colors that I didn’t use before to color the flowers to represent that flowers are unique and beautiful.
I demonstrated persistence while working through working through these art because I came to the art room to work and finish🏁 my artwork. It shows how I have determination towards my art pieces and managed to finish them. I also worked hard to paint the glaze and color of the clay and putting on the about just right amount of layers on the clay. I also took time wisely in class to finish the graffiti name drawing. I thoughtfully💭 brainstormed🧠 ways to make my drawing look outstanding and as colorful as possible. You can see through the detailed drawings I cooperated in the letters🔤. I also showed persistency by trying different techniques on different letters and seeing how it blends in together.
In this unit, I am proud of trying something new for example filing a video🎥. I took some time editing it and adding pictures🤳 to keep the audience entertained. I can keep working on making the video clearer and using more ways to keep the viewers on track🛤️ of what is happening. I also think that the tone I used was a little too serious and that can lead to not having as much entertain. Maybe I could use a cheerful voice in the end so make the audience pay attention🚨 again.
I think bias is judging someone in an unfair way. It can make others feel uninvited and that they don’t belong. When you are having bias against someone, you are using your own opinion to judge someone. A positive outcome of having the same perspective is that we can agree✅ on something. It makes people don’t think of others points of view👁️. A negative outcome of having the same perspective is that you can’t form new ideas. Then you are always in the same idea all the time. Having different perspectives allows us to think deep🐋 and explore more possibilities.
In this unit of proportional relationships, I learned the about finding the COP and the relationship between 2 or more pairs of ratios. I feel pretty confident about find the constant of proportionality because I can identify the COP by using equations. We used graphs, tables, and equations to represent a scenario. Multiplying and dividing in different ways to get the answer is also something new that I learned. Something that stood out to me was the different ways that you can represent a proportional relationship. Some challenges in this unit is that I sometimes get confused on what the question is asking. That is an obstacle that has been in my way. Another part that was difficult to understand was when I didn’t know which number should be divided/multiplied by.
I chose influencer as the form of media for the project. The video was filmed in a green environment so that the audience can always have an alerted feeling while watching the video. I think if this was a traditional assignment, I would be able to choose the format I want to work in. With multiple or even more options, I can explore wider and find the just-right one. In my opinion I improved a lot because in the start, I didn’t really notice the specific words and phrases influencers use to persuade or entertain the audience. Through this project, I learned how influencers affect people through their videos and change people’s perspectives. I am proud of working hard of the template and trying new techniques while making the video. A challenge was filling out the template with precise and accurate information, going deep into a word. If I could redo, I would make the video more entertaining because I think I couldn’t grab the audience’s attention very well. An advice I would give myself for the next unit is to work harder on the template so I can have information that goes directly to the words.
I think I did pretty well in explaining the purpose of the influencer. Something that I did well is explaining how the influencer talked and how she tries to grab the audience’s attention‼️. I can make it clearer to by adding specific details of the influencer’s point.
I didn’t use specific languages that the influencer used. I only talked about how she has an exciting tone, an interesting hook🪝, and a little summarize of what she said. I could add quotes and use exact words the influencer uses and how those language choices reveal the purpose .
The words and phrases I chose which were “people thought I got my nails done”, and “press on nails for the win”💅. I explained the connotations well and how the phrases affect and motivate the audience. I can go deeper🐋 by identifying more words and what the meanings are behind the scenes.
I think I was good at explaining how the phrases the influencer chose connect to the audience’s emotions🙂. I can make the connections stronger by thinking “why” the influencer does that.
I think I did well on the vocabulary part because I explained it very well. However I need to improve on explaining on the influencer purpose because I did not add the influencer’s language choices.
I would definitely add the influencer’s language choice and explain about the purpose of it. Another thing is aiming🎯for especially powerful words and explain their effects in detail. I think that powerful words that I choose can really represent how and what the influencer is trying to say.
I would notice on the kind of words and phrases the influencer uses to motivate and persuade the audience. I would also look for the facial expressions, tones, and professional language that they are using in order to promote their product🧴.
In this unit in table tennis, we played doubles and a lot of king and queen of the courts. I learned how to do correct servings and do backhand ways to hit the ball back.
One thing that I learned the most was the position of the way you should hit back the ball. It can make it easier to hit the ball back with strength and you can play ping pong easier.
I will want to improve on hitting the ball with not much strength because always hit the ball off the table.
To make this sketchbook cover, I used a lot of materials for example sequins, markers, and newspaper.
First, I made a border around the words in the front and sticking the sequins around to make it sparkly. Next, I stuck a little amount of newspaper onto the sides of the sketchbook and used little masking tapes to stick it on more. Then I drew a lot of flowers in the top right and down left corners. The flowers are symbols that represents the different kinds of plants that I like and see. It also shows how the flowers in nature are really pretty and how we should protect them. I kind of colored it with a purple marker to draw lines in the flowers. That describes how I like the color purple. The words in the middle of the book is traced again by a green marker and that symbolizes nature and plants. The other faint yellow tracing is representing how the sun can make the plants grow.
The images that I chose which is the newspaper shows my identity because in my family, we watch the news almost everyday. The material used, which is the sequins represent how the plants shine under the sunlight, and how art to me is bright.
