Art Sketchbook Cover Reflection

I created this sketchbook cover that expresses my identity using elements, pictures and cute drawings I cropped and printed out stuck onto my sketchbook cover. I also used some acrylic markers for raindrops. These elements relate to my identity because it’s a combination of what I like, what I’m working on, and my surroundings. The spider-like monster comes from a TV-series that I enjoy calles Stranger Things. The shanghai cityscape represents where I most feel like and where I live. The piano tells people that I play and practice that kind of instrument as a hobby. And the green spiral and matcha tells that I love the color green. The planning looks a bit different from my work because I’m not sure on what I should do at that time.

PE Badminton Unit Reflection

In this unit, I learned how to serve underhand, overhand, forehand and backhand, how to correctly grip a racket, and how to play games in badminton. I also learned how to hit the ball with strength and speed.

The PE classes and practice with my friends helped me improve my badminton skills overall.

Something I can work on is my forehand serve and shot, I still don’t quite know how to correctly serve my forehand and I couldn’t seem to touch the ball. I can also improve on my backhand shot since I always forget when a ball goes flying under.

Something I am proud of in this unit is my overhand shot, I often work okay with a partner but I can’t really catch the ball at high speed alone.

Social Studies Unit 2: Visual Presentation

We had to choose a type of transportation or communication invention that had a great impact on society. We annotate articles and listed out negative and positive impacts in the graphic organizer. We then wrote a CER essay explaining the positive and negative impacts towards society and the solutions for negative impact. And finally, we created a model of our invention using cardboard and paint materials or online, and presented the model to our parents and class. I chose the communication device cell phone. I chose to do a cell phone model because I am curious about the history and evolution behind it and I feel like crafting a cardboard cell phone would be much easier.

I think my presentation to parents is more successful. I explained a lot as I showed my model. One thing I can work on next time is my model. I was planning on to do a lot of functions like a switchable screen, or multiple cameras representing different models. But I ran out of time and imagination.

TTG Goal Portfolios

A transdisciplinary transfer goal I would like to work on is the Creative Learner. I want to work on my goal in art class. In art class, I can use my imagination fully and create project different from others. I will work on thinking creative ideas on my own, not relying on AI and I will try to think of something different, not copying from others. In health, I will create something cool with the knowledge I learned in health class.

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay

A screenshot of my essay:

For my unit 2 transportation and communication essay topic, I chose cell phones and how they impact the society in a positive and negative way. I had to write an introduction, evidence for positive and negative impact, solution for negative impact, and a conclusion.

One thing I did well in my essay is I wrote enough words and I clearly demonstrates the negative, positive impacts to society and the solutions for negative impact. One thing I could improve in my essay is: My subtitles, I should not have included any subtitles in my text, and my claim, I need to make my claim more clear.

Math Unit 3 Reflection

In this unit, I understood how to change fractions into percentages and percentages into fraction and decimal. I also understood new percent equation such as the percent change equation ( change/original x 100 ) and more.

Some new information and facts I learned are mostly about percent equations, I learned some more effective ways to calculate the percent change and converting percent. I also learned about the concept of interest rate and how to calculate them. I also added knowledge of tax and tips calculation along with new vocabulary such as subtotal.

What’s something interesting I did in this unit is my presentation. I had to compare two real life boba tea stores and their prices to find out the percent change, how much money saved from buying the less expensive boba, and the final price including tip and tax.

Something tricky for me in this unit is that I missed a lot of lessons so I don’t really understand that much of percentage equations and how to graph a double number line of tape diagram that clearly.

Unit 3 Health Decide Model Reflection

I learned about different types of drugs and how they can affect our body negatively. We worked on a decide model where we wrote all the things we learned about drugs and discussed the consequences by reading and annotating articles. In our decide model, we also identified different types of drugs and listed long-term effects and short-term effects based on the scenario we were assigned to. Our Scenario: You notice that there are lots of K-pop stars using cigarettes a props in their film clips. They look really mature aabd you and your friend decide to take some photos with cigarettes you found at your grandparents house. Your friend dare you to light the cigarette and try it.

Our drug type was cigarettes, the consequences of using cigarettes are:

  • numerous cancers (lungs, nose, mouth)
  • heart diseases
  • weakens immune system
  • diabetes

Unit 2 Science Reflection

Blind box project

The essential question I chose is: How do our body systems work together if we play our favorite sport. I chose the sports skiing. Learning and understanding cells and body systems showed how our body works when we play sports. The respiratory and circulatory systems work together to ensure that oxygen is brought into the body and delivered to muscles and other tissue for movement. The human body functions like a big team made up of smaller teams called subsystems, with cells as the basic building blocks. Each subsystems, such as the muscular system for moving and the circulatory system for transporting oxygen, works together to ensure we perform well in sports and other things.

Blind Box Project ⬇️⬇️

I think the most impactful and memorable learning experience as a learner is the Dissections and the Independent research projects. The dissections can make me fully understand and experience how organs work since I never actually contact with real organs so it’s definitely the most fun and memorable learning experience. The Independent Researches can make me learn because it can let me research freely and explore everything all by myself

If I could improve one aspect on my learning in this unit, I would review for L2 quizzes more. Because I often forget the facts and learning such as the organelles test, and I also heard that if you study and memorize at night, you will tend to remember more of the facts. I will try to study more carefully and fully in the future science classes.

PE Swimming Portfolio

During the swimming unit in PE I mostly learned how to perform artistic swimming and additionally learned how to float in the water without touching the base. We got in groups of maximum 5s and performed artistic swimming skills such as raising people in the water and floating around with self-choice music.

I think I can improve on my floating skills since I still struggle with keeping my mouth above water which I think will be relevant for the water polo unit in next year’s swimming PE.

I enjoyed water polo I played while swimming make-up lessons also, and I look foward to next year’s swimming unit.

PE Soccer Unit Reflection

What I Learned

During the PE soccer unit, I gained a deeper understanding of how to actually dribble and play soccer including

  1. Fundamental Skills: I improved my dribbling, passing, and shooting techniques, which are essential for effective gameplay.
  2. Game Strategies: I learned about positioning and teamwork, recognizing how important communication is among players to execute plays effectively.

Something I Am Proud Of

I am particularly proud of my progress in teamwork and communication on the field. I took the initiative to encourage my teammates during practice and games, which helped build a positive team atmosphere. Additionally, I successfully completed a few key passes that led to goals, showcasing my ability to contribute actively to the team’s success.

Something I Can Improve On

One area I recognize for improvement is my fitness level. I found myself getting fatigued during longer matches, which affected my performance. To address this, I plan to incorporate more conditioning exercises into my routine, focusing on stamina and agility, which will better prepare me for future soccer activities.
