Social Studies Unit 2: Visual Presentation

Video Presentation:

In this unit we researched the positive, negative and the solution to a type of communication or transportation technology. We can make any form of project that go with our script and present it to the class. My topic is the impact of airplanes on the American society. And I made a video on that.

I did well on explaining the positive, negative, and solution of the airplanes. I also advanced my video making skills giving the audience great visions. I need to improve on the presenting part because we was suppose to say it out loud and not say it in the video. Which was a mistake.

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay

CER Essay:

I did well on researching about my topic airplanes. I gave detailed evidence explaining the three paragraphs positive impact, negative impact, and the solution. The statistics I used clearly states the claim of how airplanes have the impacts (positive, negative) on the America society.

I still need to improve on my reasoning because since I have so many evidence I was suppose to connect each evidence to the reasoning. But my reasoning was not detailed enough to cover all evidence. So next time I need explain each evidence and why it connects to the claim.

U2 Cells & Human Body System

I chose essential question B: “How do our body systems work together when we play our favorite sport?” For example, in badminton when I hit the shuttlecock, the muscle cells in my arms, shoulders, and legs converts power to my moves. While the nerve cells in my body send fast signals from my brain to coordinate my timing and aim. My respiratory system takes in oxygen as I breathe. Red blood cells carry the oxygen to my muscles to keep them working.

The two learning experiences that helped me most were Watching Videos and Modeling activities. Since I’m more of a visual learner the videos simplified how systems interact and what they look like. These were more helpful than words and I could revisit them to review.

If I could improve one aspect of my learning, it would be fully meeting the L4 extension, because while I tried the extension task , I didn’t go deep enough to fully meet the L4 expectations. I researched specialized organelles, but I didn’t connect them to specific subsystems or gather detailed examples. To enhance my future learning, I’ll break the expectations into smaller parts and manage my time to better achieve L4.

ELA U2 Summatives

Story Outline:

CERER/Pitch Presentation

  • I think I have improved a lot on the summative than the formative. In the formative I wasn’t very clear about the commas and citations. But in the summative I reviewed for these points and got a meeting for it.
  • I am proud that I got all meetings in my final summative.
  • Some challenges for me is the reasoning part for the CERER because the only approaching I got is on the reasoning part for the formative.
  • I think I am pretty efficient about the feedback because after I receive my grades on the CERER back I have a goal and I know what to study which improved my grade in the next summative.
  • If I could redo the summative I would prepare for the summative and read through the slides.
  • My advice to give myself in unit 3 is to review and prepare for formative and summative.
  • One goal for my future work is to try to get more exceedings and not approachings.

Unit 3 proportionality & percentage

U: I understand how to change the percent, whole, and part. For example “what percent of 100 is 50” The answer is 50%. I also learned how to calculate tax, tip and simple interest.

N: I learned the formula of how to calculate the simple interest.

I: I think the most interesting part is doing the project because we get to look at stores and apply our learning into realistic situations.

T: It is tricky to calculate very long situations that include markup, discount, tax and tip.

Decide Model-Health

Applying the DECIDE Model to Navigate Peer Pressure & Health Choices

This health project changed how I handle tough calls like when a friend offers something unhealthy. The DECIDE model broke it down so I didn’t panic. First, I named the problem , then listed options .

The consequences is the most important to consider. Our poster’s damaged lungs reminded me of nicotine messes up your body for real. I also realized my value is my guide.

Swapping checklists with a peer helped, too—they said I should explain why I’d tell an adult, so I added that it keeps both me and my friend safe.

Now I know: that good health choices aren’t about being “cool.” They’re about pausing, thinking, and picking what’s best for me. I’ll use this model for future choices no more impulsive moves!

Define the problem, Explore our options, Consider the consequence, Identify your value, Define what to do, Evaluate your decision.

Math Unit 2: Proportionality and Scale Drawings

In this unit we studied about how to do scale factors and scale drawings. I learned how to determined the scale drawings and how to connect it to last unit. About proportionality. I think it is interesting that the scales can change in a simple way and how the numbers are proportional. I did well on understanding and solving the questions. I also did well on the CER. I need to improve on being more careful and not making many silly mistakes. I think this is very important in life because it can be helpful when designing things. For example, in the test there was a question of a real life scenarios about the model of an tower and the swimming pool. Which I think it is some how relevant.

ELA Unit 2 Formative #2 (CERER)

+What are you proud of?

*What were some challenges for you?

+If you could redo the assessment, what changes would you make?

+What will you do between now and the next formative to ensure you meet standards?

+What advice would you give yourself moving forward?

I am proud that for the information and writing parts I all met the standard. I still need to improve on the citations and the quotation mark rules. If I could redo the assessment I would be more careful to the citations and review the quotation mark rules. Between the next formative I would check the slides. My advice is to pay more attention when assessing.

PE Swimming Unit

In this unit we learned how to do artistic swimming. We learned the roll, many types of jump, oyster, and lifts. At last we performed in a group using these techniques we learned. I think I did well on practicing the performance and need to improve on the lifts and general swimming moves. I think this is important in life because we learned how to float which can maybe save our lifes.

U2 Formative Assessments #1

In this formative we learned about mirror, window, conflicts, round, flat, static, and dynamic characters. Basically we first read a book and then answer the questions on the work sheet. The front page is multiple choice and the back page is we have to explain the mirrors and windows we saw in the book. In this summative I got a 3.

  • I am proud that I learned all the information about these things and could apply my learning to the formative.
  • My challenges is mixing up the four characteristics about the characters, but at last I figured it out.
  • If I could redo the assessment I would mark the examples from the book more carefully because when I started the assessment I remembered there was a part from the book but I can’t find it and have to read it again and again.
  • To strengthen my learning I probably will have to review the slides more to help me remember the informations.
  • My advice is to remember the points in class and it will help me in my assessments.
