Clock

In the clock unit, we did plenties of things. I learned new things such as spray painting, assembling components and utilizing inkscape. Then we cut and fitted wooden pieces, then used wood glue instead of regular glue to make sure joints were strong and durable. We also spray painted the components, this part ended up being trickier than I expected. It’s not just about spraying evenly; you have to hold the spray paint at the right distance and avoid over-spraying (which causes drips).I felt most confident with the design part: mapping out how the shapes of the would be, and choosing colors that’s bright and refreshing. And it feels proud to see the clock finished.
Overall, this unit mixed lots of skills ( design, tech and multiple skills)
Car thingy

In the car project, we combined digital design and practical skills, there was so much to learn and follow every step. We started with Onshape, 3D design tool that let us practice making components digitally. Collaborating was easy too, since we can ask each others questions if we have something that we don’t understand.
Once our digital designs were finalized, we moved to the parts that requires hand-on skills. We gathered all the physical parts and built them with tools like hammers, nails and screwdrivers, its’s not that complicated if you follow all the steps on the manual. I feel most confident building the car, it’s fun to build something following the steps. And I struggled most when using Onshape, there were lots of process and sometimes I can’t find the right button.
In the end, this project taught me how hand- making skills were different from using digital tools.
