Doris, Callie and my artwork:

1. Cultural Influence on Aesthetic Choices:

I think that as Kool Koor grew up in the Bronx, he had a lot of limitations but he used that feeling of wanting to be free and put that into his artwork. So he used lots of bright colors to make a very explosive artwork. His artwork showed the need to live without restrictions. Now his artwork is a bit less explosive as he is free and his artwork is more flowy and calm but it still allows him to communicate that he feels a certain way or has values/beliefs.

2. Environmental Impact on Art Creation:

In the streets, in some places it’s illegal to paint on the walls so he might work fast and leave symbols that mean something really special to him because he really only has one chance for it to be a really powerful painting or with a lot of emotion, because if he gets caught he could get in lots of trouble and so he needs the make that one chance count.

3. Personal Reflection on Aesthetic Development:

I think that my culture can influence my values or beliefs and I can express that in my artwork by using symbols that really show who I am or where i’m from. I can also incorporate my feelings in my artwork in colors, words, or graphics in the art.
