Mixed Media Self-Portrait

I want my audience to understand that my identity is a harmonious blend of calm introspection, playful joy, and a touch of magical idealism.

I included some colors such as blue to communicates my calm, reflective, and thoughtful nature, white to represents my desire for openness, and purple to add a layer of creativity. By including mint chocolate ice cream and soda, I move beyond a generic portrait to share a piece of my personal world. I find joy in specific, it makes me relatable and real. I also added some bow, music notes, stars, and tiny dots to make my artwork look completed.

During creation, I took risks and experimented in several key ways to move beyond a traditional portrait and ensure these symbols worked together cohesively.

I took risks by not drawing a realistic picture of myself. Instead, I used colors and symbols to show my personality. I experimented with how to arrange everything. I played with the layout so that things like the ice cream, stars, and music notes felt like they belonged together, not like a random list. I took a risk by including my very specific tastes, like mint chocolate ice cream.

PE Swimming-Water Polo Reflection

During the swimming unit, I learned how to play water polo, improved on my swimming skills, and collaboration with other people in my class.

At first I was a bit confused on how to dribble the ball in water polo since I was absent for 2 classes. Then I asked about how to dribble the ball to my friends and teachers, soon I learned how to dribble it and now I’m very confident with it. Also, I learned that this is a game of strategy, not just speed. Overall, swimming is a fun and challenging game for me. I really enjoy playing water polo with other classmates and my friends.

Artistic Choices – Kool Koor

Kool Koor’s background in the Bronx graffiti culture deeply shaped his art. Graffiti taught him to work on a large scale, to be bold with his lines, and to tell a story through symbols and letters. You can see this in his techniques, like the strong black outlines he often uses and the way his figures seem to flow and move, much like graffiti art on a train or a wall. His style mixes the energy of the street with more classical art, creating something that is both raw and refined.

The environment where an artist works greatly affects their creative process. In the streets, art is fast-paced and public, often made to make a quick, powerful statement. In a studio or classroom, there is more time to think, plan, and experiment with different materials. When trying Kool Koor’s style, you might have felt this difference—the freedom to be messy and expressive like street art, but also the calm to focus on details and build layers, something harder to do on a city wall.

For my own self-portrait, my culture and environment will influence my choices a lot. The colors, patterns, and stories from my family’s background, as well as the landscapes of where I live, are a big part of my identity. I can incorporate these by using specific color palettes that remind me of home, including traditional patterns in the background, or using mixed media items that have personal meaning. This will help me create a self-portrait that is not just a picture of my face, but a true expression of who I am.

Unit 1 Winter Concert Orchestra Reflection

In this unit I have been working on formative and summative assessment on different pieces like Overture to Lucio Silla, Ice Sculptures, and Carol of the Bells/ Green sleeves.

During this unit I focused on improving my bow hold to make my playing sound better. I learned that I used to hold my bow too tightly, which made my wrist stiff, especially when I tried to play spiccato. By relaxing my hand and using a more flexible wrist, I started to get the controlled, bouncy sound I wanted. It’s still a work in progress, but I now understand how a relaxed and correct bow hold is the key to making good spiccato strokes and a beautiful tone.

Unit 1 Transformations and Congruence Reflections and Goals

I chose question 7 as my best work because on this question, I shown my ability of explanation on math, I clearly explained why is those two shapes congruent and I listed the steps. I chose question 1 as evidence of my best because this question shown my ability of finding the pattern of different transformation, so I don’t have to count on the coordinate plane which is much easier

Throughout this unit, I improved the most at using different kinds of transformations to see if the shape is congruent or not, and how do you use dilations. I feel I still need to work on rereading my answer to check if I make mistakes, so I can get more questions correct.

Strength:

  1. Practice at home before taking assessments
  2. Turning in homework on time
  3. Good Collaboration with my friend

Things that I want to improve:

  1. Be more active in class
  2. Reread my answers so that I don’t make mistakes
  3. Collaborate with different classmates

In the next unit, I want to make sure that I reread my answers and questions so I don’t make mistakes, and build collaboration with other classmate beside my friends. Something that might get in the way of me completing the goal is lack of time and not enough confident. When I am stuck or need help I can always ask my classmate or teacher

ELA Unit 1 First Contact

During this unit, I learned about grammar such as parts of speech, sentence structures, connotation, and the three positions for prepositional phrases by highlighting and explaining my alien’s paragraph. I learned how to find and explain the definition of the words included in different sections. For example, explaining the strength and weakness of my alien’s sentence structure.

Additionally, I enhanced my communicative competence through interaction with an alien AI chatbot. This experience allowed me to cultivate instructional strategies for guiding a creature, and I think this serves as an engaging and effective tool for improving students’ grammatical proficiency.

Art Museum Portfolio

My experience of this trip is quite interesting. I think the arrangement in this museum is special. For the El Anatsui’s art pieces, the arrangement allow us to see a slightly different thing from different perspective. A good example is the Red Moon. This piece of art is made from bottle caps and metal pieces. It is hung in a new and different way for every show, so it never looks exactly the same twice. This lets the sculpture flow and changes. El Anatsui’s art shifts my understanding of material and art. The audience’s perspective moves from seeing recycled trash to appreciating a magnificent, challenging their notions of value and beauty. This creates an awesome experience that can connects to local cultural traditions.

Some of the other art pieces in the museum is also unique. Those art pieces used different shapes and color. I saw a piece that uses many dots and a good use of colors, this is one of my favorite piece. Some Individual sculptures and paintings shows the beauty of human body.

PE Unit 1 Reflection

In PE table tennis, I learned the importance of patience and precision. At first, I swung too hard, sending the ball flying. Then I try to control the power. I improved my serves and worked on returning difficult shots. While I still need practice on my backhand, my forehand became much stronger. Most of all, I learned that it’s a game of strategy, not just speed. It was fun and challenging, and I enjoyed playing with different classmates. I look forward to improving my skills even more next year.

L4: Sketchbook Cover

The theme of my sketchbook cover is “The Things I Like,” which is really a way of showing a piece of who I am. I wanted my cover to be bright, fun, and full of energy because that’s the mood I’m in when I’m creating art.

In the center, I drew a character blend of my favorite K-pop idol, Wonyoung, mixed with Cherry. I’ve been practicing anime-style drawing, and I wanted to capture her elegant and cute vibe. The background has a cherry to make her stand out and to keep the feeling sweet and playful. She represents the music and styles I’m into right now—things that feel fresh and pretty.

On the top left corner, I drew Tom and Jerry in their classic, chaotic poses. I’ve loved them since I was a kid.

Probability Fair Reflection

Rules of the game: There are three mini games. The prize you get depends on how many you win – if you win one, you get a level 3 prize. If you win 2, you get a level 2 prize, and if you win all, you get a grand prize.

For the first game, Lucky Draw, 20 cards are placed in a box, and five of them are specially decorated. You have one chance to put your hand in and randomly select one. If it has a ghost symbol, you win!

For the second game, Spell Casting, a box is divided into two sections, labeled 1 and 2. The hosts will write down 1 or 2, and the player will have 3 chances to throw their ball into one of the sections (you’ll have to guess which one is correct) to “cast a spell”. If they make it AND they made it into the section that the host wrote down, they win!

For the last game, Spinner, a decorated spinner with six equal sections will be provided. The player may select a section of their own choice, then spin the spinner. If they end up spinning to the section they selected, they win!

My and my partner asked AI to generate few mini game examples. Then, we edit it base on our theme of the game, which is magic. We made all of the games ourself during class, using cardboard and glue. Something that went well during the probability fair is our prizes are enough, we even have many snacks left over at the end of the fair. Some conflicts is that there is too many people coming to us, and I asked all my partners to come to deal with them.

Me and my partner did not keep track of the wins and losses, so we’re not very sure about it. We gave away all of the grand prizes, and the probability of getting it is 3%, so I think the experimental probability is bigger than the theoretical probability
