Art Sketchbook Cover Reflection

For my sketchbook cover, I showed who I am in two ways: with pictures that show my nationality, my hobbies, and with swirly colors and lines that show my fun, creative side. In planning, I used design tricks like putting the big main pictures in the middle for focus and adding contrast to make important parts pop up. This helped me sketch, fix mistakes, and make a cover that feels like me.

TTG Goal

Vision Board/SMART Goal Reflection

I’m still working on my goal. I have worked on achieving exceedings in science, and I’m getting closer to getting the grade. I have been reviewing the things we learned every day for about 10 minutes, so I think I will try to study it a bit more. Some challenges that I have encountered were being lazy and other things that I have to accomplish at home. This has made me think to myself that I can do it next time, but making a schedule for after school has made it easier for me to keep in shape. During this, I have found that I keep my time as my most significant notion, and I think this helped me from using my time effectively to achieve my goal. Additionally, I have achieved the best grade that you can get for each assignment (for example, for L3, getting a 3), and this shows that I’m quite close to achieving my goal. However, because I’m not finished with achieving my goal, I shouldn’t change my goal yet. Some support I got during this is some reminders from my teachers about my goals. This helped to keep in task and remind myself. Now, because I haven’t reached my goal completely, I will try to work more on checking my rubric to reach an firm L4.

Unit 3 Science Reflection

-Part 1 Essential Question and Standard

The essential question that I chose is ‘What happens inside our bodies when we get sick?’ During this unit, I learned about how cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems work together to help the body function, and the types and functions of them. For instance, when you get sick, your body’s systems (like the immune system) interact with specialized cells that form tissues, organs, and systems.

-Part 2 Learning Experiences

The learning experience was the most impactful or memorable for
me as a learner was the group work (VR or Cardboard Human body project, Cell
Analogies, Microscope Observations, Connectors) and Dissections (Pig’s heart/ lungs and Bullfrog). This is because I learn the best in conditions where I can share my opinion with other people and understand better when I am able to observe things in real life.

-Part 3 Improvements

I need to improve on checking my final checklist for the project. Before submitting the assessment, I didn’t check my checklist and forgot to add my function descriptions that goes along with my model.

Social Studies Unit 2: Visual Presentation

IMG_0370.MOV

I chose to make a mixed media because I learn the best when I use visual sources and short texts to summarize my thinking. The pictures of the locomotives and the texts about the essay helped me understand the position of the locomotive in the society of the British during the 1800s. I think I did a good job explaining the setting when the locomotive was invented but I think I need to improve on making the project larger in scale to make it look more professional.

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay

In this project, I started by generating some topics for my essay. After I found my topic, I did some research on it and found 3 articles related to my topic. Then I annotated the articles and put the information on my graphic organizer. The information was used as an evidence in my 3-paragraph essay. When I finished writing my essay, Ms.Sawyer gave me feedback on it and I edited the parts and added the introduction and conclusion. In my essay, I think I did a good job on choosing an appropriate claim for each paragraph, but I need to work on connecting my evidence to my claim.

Math Unit 3:Proportionality&Percentages Summary

U: What did do you understand in this unit?

I understood how to use proportionality and percentages to represent and solve real-life problems, by working with ratios, unit rates, and percent calculations in different forms such as fractions, decimals, tables, and graphs.

N: What new information did you learn in this unit?

I learned various formulas for calculating percentages and words in real-life related to percentages.

I: What was interesting in this unit?

I was surprised about the places around me where percentages were used.

T: What was tricky for you in this unit?

I was hard figuring out the meanings of percentage words in questions.

Health Unit 3 – Healthy Decision Making Reflection

Benefits of the DECIDE

The DECIDE Model can make responsible choices in choosing between difficult decisions so we can successfully handle peer pressure. This helps with building confidence, easy managing of stress, lesser regrets and improved problem solving techniques.

Effects of Different Substances

Alcohol, nicotine (from vapes and smoking) significantly harm health by increasing risks for addiction, heart problems, respiratory issues, and worsening mental health (anxiety, depression) due to conflicting effects, leading to easy addiction especially in underaged people.

Unit 2-Proportionality and Scale Drawing Reflection

U: What do you understand in this unit?

I understand that the perimeter and the area of scaled shapes are proportional to the scale factor is different ways.

N: What new information did you learn in this unit?

I learned new math words such as scale factor and scaled shapes.

I: What was interesting in this unit?

It was interesting to learn the relationship between the scale factor and the scaled shapes.

T: What was tricky for you in this unit?

I had to read the questions carefully so I didn’t make any mistakes such as misreading the order of the scaled shape.
