Health_Unit 1 Healthy Plate

-Healthy Plate

A healthy plate should include a colorful variety of fruits, a lot of vegetables, healthy oils (ex. olive and canola oil) for cooking, healthy protein (ex. fish, poultry, beans, and nuts), whole grains, and plenty of water. Also when choosing a healthy meal, we should avoid processed or refined ingredients.

Our menu, Hwachae, has included plenty of fruits like watermelon, blueberry, shine muscat, dragonfruit, and passionfruit. In addition we have a good amount of healthy protein in the milk.

-Learning Through Master Chef

When I was working on my Master Chef project, I think I succeeded in the visuals and the taste of the food, but I think I could improve on the presentation of the explaining the micro and macro nutrients of the food and using all healthy ingredients like strawberry milk. I used the knowledge of creating a healthy plate above to try make a healthy snack.

-Ethical Global Citizenship

In my current diet, there’s a lot of beef or pork, eggs, and tofu. The beef has a high impact, and the pork and eggs have a mild impact, and tofu has a low impact. Including beef might not be the best choice, so in the future I’d better try other healthy proteins like beans more.

-Habits & Goal Setting

The Habit Loop is a chain of reactions through unhealthy behaviors. For example, eating processed food causes the brain to be addicted to the strong sense by the food. This makes the brain to feel a strong want for the processed food. It will keep on cycling and cause your body to be healthy. I think I should create a healthy Habit Loop to keep my body healthy. My goal for this year will be eating at least 2 kinds of vegetables per meal everyday. This can help me gain healthy vitamins. These are my steps to my goal: step 1) Choose an appropriate menu that includes a healthy choice of ingredients. step 2) Look for another snack to go along with your healthy plate that includes at least 1 vegetable. step 3) Don’t be a picky eater and finish all the food.

Welcome to Your New Portfolio!

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?

Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.  When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:
  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
  • Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
