Unit 2 COL

In the unit 2 celebration of learning, I received at 2.5 on my critical thinking because I did not write correlation vs causation in my essay. Throughout unit 2, the skill I improved the most at was piecewise functions One skill that I still need to work on is my critical thinker and being more precise in explaining my thinking. One strategy that helped me in the COL was reviewing previous work before the test.

Designing a Story Problem

Project:

My story in the project was about a middle schooler named Jimothan who brought his computer to school every day. Our graph was focused on modeling his computer’s battery throughout the day. The part of the project that I am most proud of is the graph that we created because the graph was really accurate. The hardest part of making this piecewise function was making the formula for the piecewise function because we had to double check that the events were not overlapping. If I could revise one part of the project, the part would be the story because the story made the whole graph very hard to make. This project helped me have a better understanding of when slope intercept form or point slope form would be more useful.

Unit 3: Identity and Healthy Relationships

In this unit in health class, we learned about healthy and unhealthy relationships along with people’s identity. I learned that there can be intersex people with hormones and organs from both genders. I also learned that you can be abusive in a relationship even without being violent.

The purpose of the project was to analyze a relationship and find the boundaries, communication level, unhealthy and healthy parts. This project could help us find out unhealthy and healthy relationships in real life conditions and know how to prevent a unhealthy relationship if we are in one.

Health Class Unit 2 Reflection

I used to think that mental health ment the emotional and psychological well being. I did not know that anxiety could also be a disorder and I thought that it was only a feeling that you could have. I did no really know what OCD was and I thought that eating disorder was just not wanting to eat specific things because you did not like them.

Now I know that mental health is our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, which affects how we think, feel, and act. Now I know more about common mental health disorders. I now know that anxiety can also be a disorder and it happens when anxiety is at a excessive rate and in a daily basis. I also now know that depression is not just being sad, but is more severe than that as it can make people lose their motivation and make them lose interest in things that they once really liked. I also now know that there are 3 types of eating disorders such as Anorexia, Binge Eating, and Bulimia. Anorexia is trying to limit your calories to keep your weight as low as possible, Binge eating is not having control over how much you eat and Bulimia is eating a tiny amount and then doing very intense exercises after that.

My Health Class Unit 2 Project

English Language Arts Unit 1 Reflection

What did I learn about language, communication, and writing through this unit:

Through the unit, I learned more about grammar and improved my understanding of some aspects, for example complex, compound, and simple sentences along with improving my understanding about the 7 parts of speech. The final project that we had to do was teach a AI programed to be a alien how to speak english. We did this by teaching it the 7 parts of speech and providing examples of words.

My best piece of growth was the final alien project where the alien had to generate a image of what he was doing on earth. This is my best piece of growth because at the start of the unit, I was still a little bit confused about the parts of speech but now after the unit, I was able to teach AI how to speak english.

Semester 1 Active Learner Reflection

Current goal:
I plan on improving my attitude about the work I do in science class. I can achieve this by paying attention to the teacher, using the feedback he gives me, and focusing on the lessons in class.

What I have made towards achieving my goal:

To achieve my goal of using the feedback Mr. Tafel gives me and paying more attention, I decided to close all distractions on my computer like other tabs from different classes and applications that I do not need opened.

Active Learner Form:

What I am most proud of in science class:

In science class, I am most proud of my collaboration because I feel like I collaborated with my partner effectively throughout the unit.

What my biggest challenge has been in science class:

My biggest challenge in science class was staying focused because sometimes I get bored of reviewing things that I already learned.

How I have demonstrated the qualities of an Active Learner:

As a active learner, I prepared effectively by brining my pencils to class and doing my homework. I collaborated well in the classroom since I always answered his questions when he was asking our classroom and I had a pretty positive attitude and looked back at my feedback. I want to improve in time management because I sometimes procrastinate until the last day to do it.

Unit 1 Reflection and Goal Setting

I choose question 8 from the unit 1 celebration of learning as my best representation of thinking because this question was on the critical thinking criteria and there were multiple correct question and I came up with a correct answer. I choose question 3 from the unit 1 celebration of learning as my second best representation of thinking because there were multiple ways of how to do it and I came up with a good answer with 2 steps.

Through this unit, I improved the most at reflections in transformations because I was a bit confused about it at the start of the unit and I did not have a lot of accuracy. I feel like I still need to work on negative dilations because that is the hardest part of the unit for me. My 3 strengths from this unit were translations, rotations, and figuring out the scale factor. The 3 things that I want to improve on next unit is functions, identifying intervals of increase, and identifying intervals of decrease.

In the next unit, I want to be good at linear functions. What might get in the way of this goal is that we will probably be no longer practicing linear functions next unit. If i do not have any time in class to practice my linear function skills during math class, I will always be able to practice my math on IXL.

My sticker design:

What I liked about this project was that we were able to make a sticker about whatever we wanted. What could be improved was us having more time to do the sticker design and having a bit more guidance through the sticker description.

Health Class App Review

Part 1

Hypothesis:

This app will help me achieve my WOOP goal because the app I am using is called Daylio and the purpose of the app is to help me he more productive and help me with my emotions. My goal is to make myself more productive so I think this app will help me get more efficient in doing my work.

Outcomes:

One outcome that I expect of this app after 7 days of usage is me becoming more productive. Another outcome that I expect is me becoming more organized since I need organization skill to get more efficient. Even though its not one of my goals, I think I will be in a better mood most of the time because this app is designed that way.

Baseline:

Right now I score a happy-normal on a mood scale and I am finishing my tasks the day before or the day of the deadline. When I am done with this app, I expect to score a happy frequently on the mood scale and finish my assignment earlier to have enough to get feedback and improve.

Part 2

App Features:

The app I am using right now is called Daylio. This app is designed to help you with emotional control, productivity, journaling, and building habits. I chose the productivity part of it since my WOOP goal was to make a list that I follow so that I can be more productive and also tried the emotional part just to see how well it would work. The emotional part of the app was better developed compared to the productivity part. The app format was kind of like a journal. To effectively use this app, I had to upload photos of what I wanted to do, and photos to show that I am actually doing it along with a optional audio recording for myself and how I am feeling.

Design:

Daylio has some ways to make you use the app more but it is not a lot. The app has shows streaks of how many days you continuously did it and shows how many days you have not done it. Unlike other social media platforms, it does not spam you notifications when you are about to loose the streak or tells you to do it, and it dose not use a lot of color but rather a grayscale design which made it less encouraging for goal setting. The streak was not easy to ignore and gave me a bit of pressure even though there was no notification to remind me. If I miss a post on one day, I could make a post for the day before which is not a option in other social media platforms. This app could be addictive because its making you do it everyday which is including it into your habit which will make you do it naturally.

Usefulness:

My hypothesis that Daylio would help me become more productive was refuted by the evidence. According to my baseline data, I was finishing tasks the day they were due, and after using the app for a week, this habit did not change. Therefore, the app was not very useful for goal, as its main focus is on tracking your mood, which doesn’t help with actually planning or completing tasks. While it might work for someone just wanting a mood journal, it is not effective for achieving specific productivity goals.
