SMART Goal

My SMART goal was to limit my screen time to three hours a day. I learned about tracking time based activities. It was easy tracking the time, but remembering to was very very very very very hard.

PE badminton

I learned how to properly play badminton

I improved how to serve

It was fun and we had lots of fun

Smashing was challenging for me

Yes so we can play more badminton

I wish I could have practiced my returns better

I am proud of my ability to serve

Unit 4 Dystopian Fiction reflection

I learned about the characteristics of Dystopian fiction. One example is totalitarianism and how the government has complete control over the people. I I I

It makes me think about the different kinds of ways people live in all around the world. So many different living styles exist and all serve different purposes and have different ways to survive.

I absolutely loved The Giver. It was so good with the twists and the suspense build-up.

My capacity of knowledge has increased on how to substantially write a good academic paragraph. (Two Points)

My intellect on literature discussions have ascended greatly.

Unit 2 Otzi Unit Portfolio Reflection

  1. What did I work on?
    1. During this unit, ‘Why should we care about the past?’, I worked on
      • Making observations, inferences and wonderings
      • Using photos and articles as evidence
      • Writing a CER paragraphAsking and answering open and closed questions
      • Taking part in the Otzi Mock Trial, my role was Prosecutor.
  • What did I learn? Why should we care about the past?
    • We should care about the past because so we don’t make the same mistake we did in the past.
  • What worked well?
    • I am proud of the following work: My speech in the mock trial, my CER paragraph and graphic organizer.
    • I am proud of the work above because it requiers a lot of patients and vocabulary to write a strong paragraph.
  • Personal Relevance
    • Collaboration and communications skills are important in my future because I want to be a lawer in the future.
  • This is a photo of me in the court cross- cut examining the expert witnesses.

Egg Car

The egg car cannot be more than 16.5 cm long and 6 cm wide, you can only use the given materials, and it must roll down and not flip.

I learned about force transfer and crumble zones. We learned about Newton’s first law of inertia and how the egg will continue moving when the car stops. The force in the car is transferred to the block and the block reacted with the same mount of force.

The egg survived. I created a tube the stopped the egg from continuing moving and a seatbelt to hold it down.

The car flipped. The egg survived. We lost because the car flipped. (Very annoying. If a car flips over, and you’re still alive, then doesn’t that count as success?)

They add seatbelts and shock absorbers and airbags to prevent the passenger dying. We added shock absorbers like the springs. We also made the front pointy so the car would slide along the concrete block.

Balloon Car

We used balloons, foam boards, straws, wheels, rubber bands, and hot glue. We continuously added weights to see how far the car would go with a certain amount of weight. The balloon car had all three of Newton’s laws acting on it.

I learned about Newton’s third law, that every force has an equal and opposite reaction. When the air shoots out of the balloon, the air pushes against the air already in the room, making the car move. Newton’s second law is “Force equals mass times acceleration.” So the more force we need to move an object with more mass. Newton’s first law acting on the ballon car means that the car will stay moving unless acting on be another force. So when the car runs out of air, the acceleration will stop.

The car worked really well. I won the elimination competition. My car went pretty fast it, it broke the old distance record twice.

The car was nearly perfect the only that was wrong was that the car was built for speed, not to carry weight.

The things we learned with the balloon car could help us with real cars in the future. The balloon car used a similar type of design a helicopter would have.

Health unit 2

It is important to know puberty changes because it can help us know what’s to come so we don’t get freaked out when puberty starts.

I am confident that I will be able to shower to get rid of the B.O

I’m not really concerned about any changes really.

I can make sure it’s from a reliable source and use the find command to find anything inappropriate

I want to improve my disruptive behavior and not paying attention in class.

Creative Writing Reflection

Writing a fictional story based on a theme that matters to me.

Theme (my purpose for writing this story, my message to readers)

Character Development (creating believable characters with positive & negative traits)

Plot (the sequence of events in my story; Western and Eastern approaches to storytelling)

Setting (the world that I create for my story)

I really like developing a good plot with action and suspense. I am proud of my character development because I think that my characters are pretty interesting. I got my idea for my story from probably a combination of things like Mission Impossible and Zelda. My favorite line from my story would be “It had stayed in the back of my mind until the blade showed up. There was an obsidian blade lodged in my door.” because it has lots of suspense in it.

I think I should have worked on it from home because I didn’t finish it and right all four pages on time. It’s hard for me to separate all the events in the story.

Creative writing can help me expand my mind and use the creative part of it. It can help me learn how to actually use my creativity without just blurring out random stuff and to put it to good use.

Critical Thinking – GRAVATRAX

I used my critical thinking to create a unique and interesting track for the ball to follow and land into end block.

I learned that critical thinking is thinking of things like “what do I already know?” to solve problems.

I thought critically when I problem solved to make a cool and working gravatrax coaster.

I struggled when I was think of better ways to make the track more cool.

Today’s learning will help me get a job like they said in the video.
