Math Piecewise Function Project Reflection

Our story was about sijuns body fat percentage and how it fluctuated over the 12 weeks that he was preparing for his body building competition. I am most proud of how we were able to make our story fun and engaging not only to read but to solve as well, I think that when learning its important to find the right balnce of fun and doing work and I think that Familia and I did very well doing this. The hardest part of creating our piecewise function was the calculations because if we were to get one calculation wrong it would affect the whole outcome of the story. This project helped me get better at explaining the problems and answers we got in realtion to the context and using more mathmatical terms.

Art Mixed Media Reflection

When my audience looks at my work I want the to not be able to fully understand what is going on a first stight, instead I want my work to capture their attention and then make them think about what these symbols might resemble about me or maybe what how they can connect to them personally. By using color contrast and an element of 3D it helpsmy work stand out which can better capture my audiences attention. When creating my artwork I took risks when using the green color that I did for my self portrate, but in the end I think it turned out well because I think it helped me be more creative, especially when I realized the green color would not fit well with my original background. In addition the colors that I used help me express my artwork as they represent different emotions that I feel or traits that I would describe myself as.

PE Water Polo Reflection

I’m really proud of my improvement in swimming, especially freestyle and treading water. I think I could still improve on my breath stroke, and elementary back stroke, but overall I think this unit went better than expected.

ELA Socratic Seminar

The artifact I chose for this was the pdf of my data. I chose this because I think it is a good representation of where I am at in my public speaking skills. It shows how I have room to improve in quite a bit of areas, like my confidence, and ability to take my ideas and use them to build off my peers ideas.

Art Reflection: Artistic Choices, Kool Koor

 Cultural Influence on Aesthetic Choices

Kool Koor’s background in the graffiti culture of the Bronx really shaped his art style. Growing up surrounded by colorful street art and bold designs, he learned to use bright colors and unique shapes in his work. In addition during his upbringing in the 70s and 80s kool koor was likely exposed to a mix of different types of graffiti, that expressed , wanting to be free, rebelion, identity, comunity, etc. This influences were shown through his work as it did and still expresses a feeling of freedom (strokes) and identity (DNA).

Environmental Impact on Art Creation

Kool Koor’s shift from street art to studio work shows how different places affect an artist’s creativity. In the streets, artists enjoy freedom and can quickly express themselves using spray paint to connect with the public. In contrast, a studio gives artists more control and access to different materials, allowing for cleaner and more detailed artwork. During the workshop, I found that letting my mind and hands move freely without planning helped me discover my artistic identity. This way of working felt similar to street art, where expression (through the strokes) is immediate and unfiltered, while also having an aspect of studio work, as we took time to discover our DNA.

Personal Reflection on Aesthetic Development

My culture and environment will play a big role in my self-portrait mixed media artwork. I can include symbols (DNA), colors, and materials that represent my background, like traditional patterns or items that reflect my interests and experiences. In addition I could use the tequnique that kool koor showed us where we just let our hand roam on a piece of paper and chose some of the shapes I drew (my DNA) and incoorperate them onto my mixed media self portrait, to show who I am and express my unique identity.

Unit 3 Exibition Reflection

Exhibitions can influence our ideas, beliefs, and experiences. For example, our ideas can be influenced as exhibitions expose the audience to diverse cultures. Through these cultures, we can find new ideas for our own work, discover our own perspectives and beliefs as to what we think the meaning behind the art work is and how it makes us feel. In addition, we can listen and learn from our peers’ perspectives as well as build on their ideas. Lastly, the curation of an exhibition can deeply affect how the audience views certain pieces and whether or not it will leave a lasting and memorable impression on us.

PE Unit 1: Table tennis

At the begining of the table tennis unit I struggeled with back hand passes and serves. As we watched more videos I started to get better at applying what I saw in the video to how I play and got much more comfortable with both serves and back hand. I also developed a better understanding of the rules in single and double player. I really enjoyed playing doubles with doris we were very good, overall I think that the table tannis usit was a fun way to start the year and I look forward to improving my skills.

Unit 1 Art : Sketchbook Cover

Although I didn’t finish yet my idea for my cover was to create a map of the world and included small pieces of memories or bigger topics that have help me become who I am today, because I believe that creating memories help us shape our identity and find the things that we love and maybe others nots so much.

So, on my cover I have drawn identity artifacts such as a plane, a traffic light, a boat, Machu Picchu and I will draw and Eiffel tower snowy mountains with a person climbing to the top and lastly a family. I won’t explain all of them though because it’s a bit much so here are the first few, I chose to draw Machu Picchu because not only was it one of the most beautiful places that I have been to but it resembles overcoming fears and showing courage to go outside of my comfort zone, which I did a LOT of on this trip. I chose the traffic light no, not because I hate traffic (which I do) but because the green resembles where I have come from and the red resemble where I am now and will be living for a while, I also think that where you live and where you have come from resemble a large part of myself. Some principles of art that I incorporated are balance, the traffic lights on both sides, and movement, the dotted lines as well as the green for “go” and red for “stop” in the traffic lights guides viewers eyes from one place to another. My sketchbook cover is a personal reflection of my identity and how I have become who I am today. I created an engaging map of my life using icons that represent me and different design strategies to grasp the viewers attention.

Art End of Year Reflection

I really enjoyed the clay unit. Entering the unit I had no backround experience with clay so I was a bit worried on how my art pieces would turn out. Some challenges I faced when working with my clay pieces were dealing with cracks and the main challenge, time. In the past I always have strugled with time when it comes to art because I want everything to be perfect and have no mistakes, but this unit taught me that there will always be something to fix, and nothing is perfect, so its best to just put all your effort into it and be happy with the end result, because mistakes can be considered art as well.

Probability Fair

Our game was called gambleing with ghosts, in order to win a prize you had to pop a balloon and then we would read out whether you got candy, star, or king (which was the grand prize).

Creating the game was pretty easy. We carved out pieces of cardboard to create the board that we would stick the balloons on and then wrapped the cardboard in paper to make them more aesthetically pleasing, but the bigger challenge was when we ran out of prizes, we had to improvise, so we changed what the grand prize was and when to buy some more across the street.

Something that went well was that there were alot of people that came to our game, and something that I would change is how we put the notes that said candy, star, or king on the back of the balloons because they were very hard to take off without ripping. According t our game the experimental probability was much higher than the theoretical probability.
