Collaboration

Creating the flexibility routine for our group project was fulfilling for me. I felt quit responsible for making a routine that would help me and maybe my classmates and friends. I’ve always felt that flexibility is an important part of fitness, knowing that, it motivated me to make a routine that is easy to follow, for beginners. Also, personally I’m working on flexibility lately.

For me, I enjoyed researching different stretches. I chose those that are not that hard but still work the best. When starting to create this routine, I worried about whether it fits high school students’ needs. In order to make sure, I asked my friends for opinion, and I got mostly good feedbacks from them.

Overall, creating the routine was enjoying for me. I Felt that it improved my organization skills and promotes my health. I finished the project feeling accomplished and I’m using the routine already.

Creativity

For the creativity task, I wrote a modern fairytale of Snow White. It was quit fun creating a modern fairytale story.

Writing kind of feels like a journey where I learn new things about my characters while I’m developing the plot. I struggled with it, but when I finish it, I felt quit proud. When I doubt myself, I focus on what I can improve the turn those negative feelings into opportunities for me to learn.

I personally liked the creativity task the best, maybe because I’m a art person. I enjoyed it a lot 🙂

Critical Thinking

I task I did for critical thinking was “Imagine you live in a world with only 20 words. You can use these words as much as you want but you cannot use any other words. Make A list of words you can choose. Write a paragraph with the words you choose.” I started by clearly defining the limitations of the task. Knowing I could only use 20 words meant I had to be creative with my choices. I felt that the most words I use in life would be “you, me, I”, so I put them on the list first. With the words, I wrote a paragraph that really reflects my feelings and emotions, which was about sleeping.

Communication

Back in middle school I was quite shy, often hesitate to share my thoughts and opinions, I also rarely participate in big group discussions. Now, after more and more practice, I feel a lot more confident in expressing my ideas in discussions and presentations. I’ve learned to speak in a more confident way.

For communication, I did a presentation in my Chinese class with my group mates. At first, I was still a little nervous thinking of speaking in front of the class. However, my group mates were very supportive, and we collaborated to prepare. And I feel confident after many practices.

Resilience

Since the starting of grade nine, I’ve learned that setbacks are chances for me to grow, instead of failures. When I face setbacks, I will allow my self to feel down for a little while, then I figure out what went wrong and make a plan to move forward. One example, when I did bad on a test, I will review questions that I got wrong, and make sure I won’t make the same mistakes. I’m sure that every time I will get better. I see these setbacks as lessons that will help me handle future challenges, showing me that with the right and healthy mindset, I can overcome obstacles and keep growing, keep getting better.

🤖️NOT BORING Reflection on AI Use

I will always double-check important information from AI with a trusted grown-up or reliable source. AI-related goal is important to me cause AI involves in our life and in the future we will meet problems related to it. It is important that I understand the goals and try to reach them. Also, I will monitor my AI-use by recording and giving credit to it when every I’m using AI. If I feel I am getting rely on AI, then I will try to research information on my own and get used to it, instead of using AI all the time. But ideally, I would balance between the use of AI and doing my own research before I get rely on AI.

Library Reflection

Our ability to properly credit sources are important because we use sources all the time, and it is important to let our teachers(also ourselves) aware of where our informations come from, and if it is credible or not. Also, to make sure our work isn’t fully copied from sources.

Middle School Was Hard but High School is EVEN HARDER

For me, middle school was hard, but now that I’m in high school, I find middle school much easier, and I miss it a lot🥲. But I still have really good feelings about high school. I’m really looking forward to the free time we have in high school, managing our own time and work✏️. I enjoy learning lab very much, part of the reason is that I can work on my homework so that I have less work to do at home🏠, and be able to review the information from class and enjoying my free time. I’m also aware of the hard work when it comes to high school, having so many questions and wonders🤔. I’ll try my best to do the best that I canđź’Ş. I wish I could do even better in high school than in middle school, not letting my parents, teachers, and me myself to be disappointed. At the same time, I wish to enjoy my high school life, I will work on managing my school work and personal life. đź’—

Welcome to Your New Portfolio!

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?

Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.  When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
  • Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
