Designing a Story Problem (Math) (Piecewise Function Project)

My story for the project, was to imagine that Joshua was President of the United States. We made a graph of his polls, over time depending on his new policies. He ruled as a Democratic Socialist and was involved in a military campaign and other policies.

The part of the project I was most proud of is its creativity. I think it was very original and unique.

The hardest part of the project was predicting the outcomes of the polls after every new policy. It was hard to describe the opinion of the public especially since that almost every presidential decision is disputed.

If I could revise one part of the project it was that we were assuming we had full approval of congress and supreme court for all decisions. This may have made the chart inaccurate as some of the policies may not have even been approved.

This project helped me understand piecewise functions better because it allowed me to work in a way I like and enjoy which increases my efficiency for practice in everything.

2026 health goals

My goals for health in 2026:

To lose weight

To organize my time

To do homework more

To pay more attention in class

To organize my work

To seek help for emotional stuff

To maintain better relationships

To manage technology better

U2 Spanish “Be Healthy”

My favorite topic this unit was the describing bloody ways to die and playing blookets. We described various forms of injury and sickness and played a lot of blooket/kahoot/quizlet.

The most challenging topic was remembering the vocabulary for all the ailments and body parts.

I performed okay this unit.

I could have performed better if I spent more time on spanish but I was doing AIME and AMC10

U3: Identity and Healthy Relationships (Health)

https://www.canva.com/design/DAG6QenmwBM/TBd6gQ6vZiIVgfP1GbNxKQ/edit

The purpose of the project was to learn about and identify Healthy Relationships in Media. For out project we chose the movie Titanic to analyze the Relationship between Rose and Cal.

Some of the most important ideas I learned about identity and healthy relationships this unit was that its okay to be LGBTQ and even though many people are discriminatory towards it, people find a community. For healthy relationships I learned that communication in a relationship is essential.

Swimming Unit Reflection

This unit we learned about swimming survival skills and water polo. We spent some lessons learning about survival swimming and just swimming in general, but most of the lessons were dedicated towards water polo.

One thing that I am proud of is my positioning in water polo, if the ball got hit offensively I was always on the offense side to receive it and get scoring opportunities. When I was guarding they were always high risk targets like Sijun.

One thing that I can improve on in this unit was my shooting, I missed a lot of shots I probably shouldn’t have.

U2 Health Reflection

I used to think mental health was just a issue that some people had, that it was pretty rare, and only happened in certain demographics. Such as alcoholism in specifically 20 year old men. I also thought that therapy could solve the issues permanently and then therapy was like a medicine, that if you went once or twice, the issue would just go away. I also took the hollywood stance of people with alcoholism or alcohol addictions being “insane”

Now, after learning about it, I know that mental health is a widespread issue, just not many people come out and talk about it. I know that it is affected by your genetics and that it is not limited to a certain demographic. Therapy needs to be constant, and it doesn’t solve the issue, just changes it to become more manageable. However, if you spend time without therapy, then the mental health issue may come back. Many media sources such as but not limited to news and videos, have bias in them such as the hollywood insane portrayal.

My thinking changed after doing research and learning about real cases, much of my research for the project involved finding real world stories, and my thinking changed after reading so many different stories on the same issue.

What surprised me most this unit was that therapy doesn’t solve things, it just makes it more manageable.

This learning affects how I view myself and others by taking mental health more seriously and identify it and not just “rub some dirt on it”.

Spanish Reflection Oct 2025

One thing I am proud of in spanish class is working with others. I always try to work effectively with others and contribute to their work. I am also proud of myself for lightening the mood in class, by dramatically dying whenever we have a reading script involving sickness.

One thing I can work on is my completion of assignments, I have a lot of other things occupying me at this time, such as amc10 and other classes. So, I generally spend a lot less time on spanish then I should.

I have demonstrated qualities of an active learner this year by engaging in activities and completing problems as best as I can, as well as rarely getting off task.

Science Reflection Oct 2025

Something that I am proud of the most in science class is my completion of assignments I think I completed them using critical thinking and using time effectively. I try my best on these assignments. One example of this is my meteor model, I spent multiple hours (4+) adding fun additions, fixing things, and adding more informations.

My biggest challenge in class this year so far is using time effectively after I finish tasks, the teacher said to not skip ahead but when I am done with my warm up I don’t have anything else to do. So, I read on my computer which I guess counts as off task.

I have demonstrated qualities of a active learner this year in science class by participating class and contributing to group projects. One example of this is when we did our time ordering project, I was voted leader and assigned roles effectively and collaborated well with others.

I give my overall score in science this year a 4/5.

Math U1 Reflection

I chose 1 as evidence of my best thinking because I think I showed my best reasoning and critical thinking with a method that was quick and accurate.

I chose 2 as evidence of my best thinking because I think my graphing skills were best displayed there.

Throughout this unit, I improved the most at dilations, I never learned dilations before 8th grade which pretty different than how I usually learn new concepts: at home.

I feel that I still need to work on dilations because I still need to work on my dilations with a fraction scale factor.

List three of your strengths so far this year: reflections, translations, triangle congruency.

List three things you want to improve on in the next unit: I want to improve my dilations more, as well as my base counting and my speed in solving equations.

In the next unit, I want to improve my speed in solving functions and equations.

Some things that my stop me is my tendency to not check which could make me redo the problem

Something I can do if I get stuck is to ask my mom at home because she is generally better at me in math.

Unit 1: First Contact

In unit 1, our goal was to learn grammar in a more engaging way by pretending to be FBI agents and teach a AI alien english in order to learn it’s motives for landing on earth.

One thing I am proud of was my ability to teach my alien detail, in the selection from the alien above, you can clearly see many adjectives and adverbs that are quite descriptive of his home planet.

One thing I think I can better is sentence structures. There are three types of sentences, compound, complex, and compound-complex. My alien only showcased two of the three sentence types. Next time, I want to fix this and put more effort into sentance structures.

Something I learned this unit was the parts of speech. Before the unit I had a more basic understanding of parts of speech such as nouns and verbs. Grammar had always been a weak spot for me. But after this unit I learned many strategies to classify parts of speech.
