In this unit, we learned how to do forehand and backhand serve. We also learned forehand and backhand hits. I think I did well on high forehand hits during games. I think I can work more on backhand serves because sometimes I can’t hit over the net.

What did I learn about Dystopian Fiction?
In this unit, I learned that dystopian fiction had many different parts. Some of them are: totalitarianism, social control and dehumanization.
How does Dystopian Fiction encourage me to think about real life?
Dystopian fiction encourages me to think about my real life. This is because some of the elements in the story makes me think of the life I am living right now, like how in the book, they had to “release” a twin. But that made me think of the death penalty, which also made people die. And that made some connections.
I enjoyed/did not enjoy The Giver.
I enjoyed The Giver. This is because most of the elements in the story are different to our real world, which makes me “huh?” a lot. Also, it has many description which would make me imagine the scene really easily.
How has my ability to write academic paragraphs improved?
My ability to write the academic paragraph has improved. Although I already knew how to write it and how to write and academic paragraph, the first time I did it on Commonlit, my structure was wrong. I separated my claim, evidence+reasoning, and conclusion into different paragraphs. And now I know how to use the academic paragraph structure.
How have I become better at literature discussions?
I have become better at literature discussions because now, I would paraphrase and validate others idea before I share mine.

I think that the most important safety behaviors for me are distractions and sleep. This is because when I am doing work, there are lots of distractions that got get me off of track, and that sleep is really important for me, and it could give me a better day! If I feel something isn’t right online or on person, I would go tell my parents, siblings, teachers, counselors, or maybe your friends. Social Media and Technology impacts teens the most by letting them know the information. In social media, there are many trends, distractions, and including blue light. This is because when you are doing homework, you may get carried out. Some strategies that help me protect myself in everyday life is avoiding talking to people I don’t know, making sure I avoid apps, or links that I do not know, or no one tells me to open, and that I don’t look at social media that much. The biggest thing that I learned in this Unit is that when you look at social media before sleep, it would take more time to fall asleep than usual.

In this unit, I learned how to underhand serve over the net and the yellow line. We did this with a medium-hardness ball and most of us got it over the line. We played matches and also learned different fun games you can do with 3-5 people. I think these skills would help me further in school or after-school because now I know well how to play volleyball and I can play with my friends. I am proud of my bump and set, and I think I should work on my underhand serves. This is because I usually do not get it over the net, gets it out, or gets it crooked.

What did I do?
For day 1, we finished the conversion sheet and determined both the imperial and the metric amounts needed for each ingredient in our own recipe. We finished the Bakery Name and the Signature Item Coversheet for homework.
For day 2, we worked on a sheet and had to show all the unit rates with proper unit labels using proper vocabulary.
For day 3, we had to provide clear mathematical explanation for the cost of one batch from the recipe, how many serving there are provided and cost of each serving using a proper strategy that shows the use of scale factors.
For day 4, we made the pitch: based off of the math poster and writes it that it articulates how they determine their sell prices based on our markup.
What did I learn?
I learned that we could actually make “money” at school and how you can get the profit, markup price and unit price.
What worked?
Something that worked was when we were baking. We did a good job and did not fail with making the rice krispie.
What did not work?
Something that wasn’t working as well was the price. The price of the marshmallows were much more expensive than the rice cereal, so we had to decide who buys what.
Personal Relevance
I think that this skill would help me in the future because I would know how to solve unit rates and how to bake rice krispies!!!!!
In this unit, we played soccer. I learned how to dribble the ball with your feet, turn the ball while dribbling it, the positions for soccer games, and passing the ball. I think that these soccer skills will help me further on when I am playing soccer later on. I am proud that I was able to score a goal during games and that I was able to pass the ball to my teammates. I think that I can work on dribbling the ball. It’s kind of hard for me and I think I can practice more on th

is.
What did I do?
The criteria of the Egg Car design and build a car with a safety system that will deliver an egg safely down a ramp.
What did I learn?
I learned that Newton’s 1st and 3rd law are connected to the egg car challenge. Newton’s first law is the law of Inertia, and it connects by the car moves from the acceleration the ramp has. Newton’s third law is for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, it connects by when the car hits the concrete wall, the wall gives the same amount of force back and lets the car bounce back.
What worked?
One thing that worked well on the egg car is the “box” I made. I made the box and folded it into half, and crumpled paper on the four edges.
What did not work?
If I would make this again, I would re-choose the wheels. This is because the wheels were not that stable and would often fall off.
Personal Relevance
I now know the design or cars or vehicles. The safety of cars are important and take a long time to design. I also know that you need something like “cushions” in your car, like air bags.
What did I do?
We are making a balloon car and testing it. The materials that are needed: balloon, tape, foam board, straw and wheels. Our criteria is to make the balloon car go far and to investigate about the Newton’s Laws.

What did I learn?
I learned about how the Newton’s three laws could connect to the balloon car investigation we did.
For Newton’s first law, the law is inertia, and it connects by the balloon letting the air out and it makes the balloon car move.
For Newton’s second law, the law is F=ma (Force=mass*acceleration), and it connects by the balloon’s air is F, the mass on the balloon car is m, and the car going forward is the acceleration.
For Newton’s third law, the law is that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction, and it connects by the friction from the ground being the opposite reaction and the force from the balloon being the action moving it.
What worked?
The collaboration for our team worked. We were collecting the data together and made the best car in our opinion. The car we made went straight forward and not wobbly or tilting to another side.
What did not work?
One thing that was not working for our group was the distance. The car was slightly too heavy, so it made it go not-so-far. We figured that the balloon was too heavy on the back side and next time, we would change something about that.
Personal Relevance
Learning about the balloon car would connect to the world. This is because the balloon car’s theory is really similar to the cars we drive today. When you step on the accelerator, the oil or gas come out from the back of the car and it leads the car to go forward.
