The task was to make a CER/Essay about the type of transportation or communication that we were researching. For the essay, we had to write a claim, evidence, reasoning then conclusion. We made a research organizer before writing the essay so it made it much easier.
I think I should get a meeting ish because I talk a lot and when working in groups, I tend to do slightly better. When I kept on getting placed in new tables, I just moved without saying anything. When I was asked to turn and talk with my partner, I 99% of the time turn and talk with my partner. I sometimes contribute to class discussions but I get really nervous when speaking out loud infront of people for no reason.
We learnt that we had to look at the pictures and not instructions because all the instructions were in chinese. We also had to do a lot of screwing which was tiring but fun.
What was challenging
The fact that i had to do it in like 2 classes because I was far behind from the clock project. Though I finished it, it was definitely a tight schedule
We made clocks for teachers based off their specifications
What did I learn from creating the clock?
During this unit, I learnt how to create a clock through Inkscape and how to trace bitmap, make a bunch of circles repeat and i also learnt how to spray paint which was pretty fun.
What was challenging
the inkscape because you had to spend a lot of classes learning new stuff and sometimes you struggles to remember stuffers
This unit we learnt how to solve proportional shapes and find the scale factors of things. We also learnt many formulas to solve the questions.
What was challenging?
To me, what was challenging was a lot of things but the most challenging was just always remembering the formula because I forget formulas or just anything in math easily.
What am I proud of?
Honestly nothing. If i had to say something though I would say the fact that i didnt rip or break anything througout the unit.
I am proud of the fact that I am able to choose relevant pieces of textual evidence for my CERER. One of the comments that Ms Devin wrote on my rubric was my claim had everything it needed to meet standards.
What are some challenges?
Some challenges from this formative are that some of my conventions were at the wrong place or written wrong. My reasoning was also only a 2 which is saddddd.
If I could redo the assessment, what changes would I make?
I would look at the rubric throughout the test instead of free balling it. I would also reread my work to make sure I did not miss anything or fix any grammar mistakes.
What will I do between now and the summative to ensure you meet standards?
I will use the MLA bot on flint to practice because that was one of the things that I did not get a three on. I will also start reviewing the rubric on my tests to make sure I meet standards.
What advice would you give yourself moving forward?
Use the bots to practice minimum 10 minutes a day so I can make sure I will be ready for the summative.
In this unit, we learned how to lift and do many other cool things. We had many classes to plan and create our presentation thingy to the class. It was fun. Since I already knew how to swim, I was able to do things like tumbleturns and backflips which benefited me for our routine. Something that went well was our music was peppa pig and that was cool.
Something I am proud of is that my grade was a 3 and I got most of the things correct on the test. I also understood the different between internal and external conflicts. Something challenging was that my story for like the window did not have a clear ending. Also, I sometimes forget which character has which traits so I should practice that. If I could redo the assessment, I would not make any changes because I already exceeded my expectations for formative #1. From now to the next formative, I will study the things that the teacher told me to work on or whatever I got wrong on the test. Advice I would tell myself moving forward is study at home. Also to just spend more time focusing instead of day dreaming.
I chose to make a media project about showing bias/perspectives through newspapers. I wanted to make newspapers because I enjoy reading and I read news often. My medium showed my purpose by giving facts. I also showed photos of graphs to prove the change over time. If this was a traditional assignment, the bad part would be that there is not as much flexibility because you dont have options. The good part is that everyone is doing the same thing so you can ask anyone for help. Something that I improved from the beginning until now is my public speaking. At the start of the unit, I could not remember anything when I practiced because I was so nervous. When we did the recording, I got nervous but not as nervous as I was before comparing to grade 6. When it was the presentation day to parents, I could speak perfectly fine. Im proud of when it came down to presenting to parents, I could easily memorize my notecards. A challenge I still face is that when it comes down to presenting in front of teachers especially, I get super scared and when I mess it up, i do not get a second chance. If I could redo the assessment, I would make myself more confident in front of the camera instead of having a shaking voice and fidgeting. A piece of advice I would give myself for next unit is practice more.
