Reflections

TTG Reflections:

I have developed as a critical thinker by honing my ability to analyze information thoroughly and evaluate it objectively. Through practice and experience, I have learned to question assumptions, think critically about complex issues, and make well-informed decisions. This has allowed me to approach problems with a more analytical mindset and consider multiple perspectives before reaching conclusions.

I have become an effective collaborator by improving my communication skills and learning to work well with others towards common goals. Through active listening and clear articulation, I have been able to foster positive relationships and cultivate a team-oriented mindset. This has enabled me to contribute effectively to group projects, leverage diverse perspectives, and achieve successful outcomes through collaborative efforts.

As a skillful communicator, I have learned to express myself clearly and effectively in various contexts. Through practice and feedback, I have honed my ability to convey ideas, information, and emotions in a way that is easily understood by others. I have developed strong verbal and written communication skills, enabling me to articulate my thoughts with precision and clarity. This has allowed me to engage in meaningful conversations, present my ideas persuasively, and build strong relationships based on effective communication.

I have developed resilience by facing challenges head-on and learning from setbacks. Through perseverance and a positive mindset, I have been able to bounce back from difficult situations and adapt to changing circumstances. This has allowed me to navigate through obstacles with confidence and determination, building my capacity to overcome adversity and emerge stronger on the other side. By embracing challenges as opportunities for growth and learning, I have cultivated a resilient attitude that helps me thrive in the face of adversity.

As a creative learner, I have cultivated my curiosity and embraced new ideas and approaches to learning. I have developed a willingness to explore unconventional paths and think outside the box when encountering complex problems. This has enabled me to approach learning with an open mind, actively seeking out innovative solutions and alternative perspectives. By embracing creativity in my learning process, I have been able to engage with new concepts more deeply, make connections across different disciplines, and apply creative thinking to real-world challenges.

School project reflection:

As I delve into my science project exploring the physics behind toy cars, I am struck by the intricate interplay of forces and motion at play. Observing the toy cars in action, I am fascinated by how concepts such as friction, inertia, and momentum influence their movement. As I conduct experiments and analyze data, I am gaining a deeper appreciation for the scientific principles governing the behavior of these seemingly simple objects. This project has sparked my curiosity and challenged me to think critically about the underlying physics, inspiring me to explore new ways to test and expand my understanding of motion and energy in a hands-on, engaging manner.

Extracurricular activity reflection:

As I reflect on our recent win in the inter-school chess competition, I am filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment. The strategic moves and calculated decisions we made as a team during the intense matches showcased our collective skill and dedication to the game. Winning the competition not only validated our hard work and preparation but also highlighted the importance of teamwork, communication, and strategic thinking in achieving success. This experience has not only bolstered my confidence in my chess abilities but has also deepened my appreciation for the mental acuity and perseverance required to excel in competitive endeavors. Our victory in the competition has inspired me to continue honing my chess skills and to approach future challenges with the same level of determination and strategic acumen.

chess β™Ÿ

Today I played chess, I learned some new skills by playing a time control ive never played before, cool!

I got better too so that was a plus!

Makerspace project

In makerspace, we were working on laser-cutting some sillouettes we found on the internet. I chose chess since it is one of my hobbies. I think the process went pretty well since I’ve used Inkscape before in MS DT, so I am confident on how to laser-cut. During the project, I not only reviewed how to use Inkscape, but also learned lots of leadership skills. I was also able to help many other people who didn’t know how to cut their sillouettes, and was able to show leadership by doing so. I also helped laser-cut some of the projects!

Awesome AI goal

My awesome AI goal is to make an effort to do my own independent thinking before turning to AI. πŸ‘ I will track this goal in a school project by first showing evidence of my work without use of AI (brainstorm, or draft), and then use AI and show evidence of my work with the use of AI (final). This way, I will be able to compare the two, and do my independent thinking for drafts and brainstorms.😎 I want to achieve my goal by the end of the semester and I will track my progress by putting a tick mark on a tracker every time I do my own thinking before using AI.

Health interview

Today during Learning Lab, we were sent to middle school health to be interviewed. The guiding question for the interview was: what is the impact of technology on teens’ social-emotional health and relationships? I think the interview was very meaningful, since when I had to answer some of the questions, I had to reflect on my own tech usage and how it impacted me, so it is a good way to make me be aware on my own tech usage while also helping the middle-schoolers manage their time with their tech.

The activity on EUA

Today, my group came up with a skit, where an editor was taking a video out of context, making everyone in the group mad. However, the other people didn’t deal with the situation well, and confronted the editor in a way that was not nice, making the editor upset too. So, what I took away from this skit was when someone is wrong, think about how we approach them with tone, voice and words, before just starting yelling at them.

The AI Ethics Dilemma

In my studies, I always thought that AI is a super trustworthy source if it is used properly. The AI ethics dilemma challenged my perspective by letting me know that even AI has a pretty high chance of making a mistake, for now. If you think about it 1% of mistake rate is still pretty high when you are using it in a life determinating situation like putting someone in jail. But I believe that in the future, the AI would be more polished, and it will be used in many places with super less error.

Second week of 9th grade

I’m super excited to high school, since there are so many activities to choose from! I am already in the school tennis team🎾, which is really fun and nice. So far, all the courses are not too hard and I’m doing pretty well, so I can spend lots of time on extracurricular activities and socializing with friends. There are some tests coming up next week, but I’m sure I will do quite well. To remember the tests and other things I have for the week, I should probably make a to-do list and go over it often so I don’t forget the important things going on. πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

I am also excited for “The Nine” trip coming up in 1 week or so, since I know it will be fun and I get to spend lots of time with my friends. Plus, I’ve never been to Yangzhou, so it will be a new experience for me (The only thing I know about Yangzhou is their fried rice).🍚 I will try to make new friends along the trip and try out new things such as cooking and making things made of jade.

Lastly, I am ready to join some clubs. Club fair should be in a month or so, so I will be looking at some clubs I want to join. So far, chess club seems fun, and I am thinking about joining it soon.
