The essential question I chose to answer is “How does our body systems work together when we play our favorite sport?”
When you play basketball, your muscular and skeletal systems work together to help you shoot, dribble, and pass. These movements activate the muscles in your shoulders, arms, and wrists, and over time. Your circulatory and respiratory systems work together too. Basketball has a lot of back-and-forth between resting and working hard, which helps build cardiovascular fitness and makes sure your body gets enough oxygen even during intense plays. Mitochondria “powerhouse” of cell, grow larger to make more ATP, the energy that the muscles contractions, sprints, and jumps on the court.
This links to the core question by explaining how cells work together to form the body’s systems and how different types of cells help these systems function properly. The essential question I chose also shows how these body systems work together to let us play our favorite sports and carry out everyday activities.
