Dystopian fiction the giver

what did I do?

I wrote paragraphs about the Giver and I discussed with my classmates and had several discussions. Also I learned about the dystopian fiction by writing academic paragraphs and discussing topics related to the book: The Giver

What did I learn?

I learned to build vocabulary, use transition words, I also wrote academic paragraphs and we collaborated and discussed in groups of 3 to 4.

What worked?

So, I worked on building on my vocabulary and had several vocabulary test to improve and help me know how to improve my writing and using harder words for example soundly and other words. I also worked on discussion notes to help me say other things and work on the discussion.

What did not work?

I can improve by writing more specific in my paragraphs and choosing harder words to improve my reading when I read. I can also improve it by making more connections with the book Giver.

Personal Relevance

So, this unit helped me understand that our community is a really great community, we don’t have to be relased when we made something wrong. We also know what love, what sunshine and what painful is. So, there might be a community like this but I can’t really connect with it is because that I am not in the community but I am really sympathetic to who’s in the community.

Health Unit 1 reflection (Addiction to screen)

So, some behaviors I think is addicting to screen is not a good choice so in our comic we made a comic about addicting to screen. Our comic is about a boy who is addicted to his online friends and his online friends want him to play with it and so, he did. But when he look in the mirror he found himself looking horrible and was really sad and disappointed to himself. Then he somehow found out why he looked that way, he found out that its that he spent too much on the screen so he got a lot of pimples. So he started to dress himself.

Some adults are also addicted to their screens because now they think that its fine just a little time but its not they spent a lot of time. They don’t know, they are not aware of the time. Just like us we aren’t aware too! But there are always ways to protect ourselves is that we can tell a trusted adult for example we can find our mom, dad, teachers, counselors to help what to do! We also can prevent it from happening is to, and asking trusted adults for a plan and add time limits on it.

Roller Coaster L4 Lab and Model

We started by completing an investigation to determine the relationship between potential energy and height. We also wrote a lab report and we built a model for the roller coaster. We took data from the model. Then we wrote the conclusion with a CER.

Unit II – Ötzi Unit Reflection

What did I work on?

We worked on a case which is a case of a man which is already 5300 years old called Ötzi. So, I worked on figuring out if Ötzi was murdered or not. I first started to research about who is Ötzi, where did he die? How did he die and research other questions? So, this unit is all about finding out for Ötzi if he was murdered or not.

What did I learn?

I learned about if Otzi died of murdered. I also learned about what Otzi ate before he died and how did he get murdered. I learned basically all about Ötzi. I learned about how Otzi got murdered by an arrowhead that stuck in his back and hit a main artery of his. I also learned about how Otzi got disease that caused his death and what he ate caused his death. I learned about whether he was murdered or not and why that happened.

What worked?

The court worked well, and except for the court, my newspaper for the court reporters worked out well. So, the part in which we have jobs worked well and the closed and open question worked well. The work in my notebooks worked well too, the papers and others. All of these worked well and turned out just the way we wanted to be, and I think my work was really successful in this unit.

What did not work?

The part which did not work as well as others is the part where the our class were the juries and when I was voting its a bit hard ton decide. I couldn’t decide if Otzi was murdered so that was a bit confusing. But at last, the voting was that Otzi was not murdered. I think that this is the part where we have got a problem. But also, I want to improve my newspaper because I think I can improve it. I can write more and print it out of A3 next time.

Personal relevance

This unit helped me to understand better why we need to care about the past. It also helps me know that there is a 5300 year old man which now he is dead, but his body is still here. This unit also helps me understand better how a court works and what does the newspaper thing works. This unit gave me more knowledge for the real life and what a court in real life might look like.

Math Baking Sale Reflection

We first did the sheets for how to make a pancake and then we made the sheet for the ingredients and last we made the pancakes yesterday.

We learned about how to make pancakes and how to calculate the pancakes. we also learned to use rates and ratios in our real life.

The pancakes turned out good but at first Miranda and I made a pancake that looks weird but when we figured out the problem we fixed. Last, our pancakes turned out fluffy and yummy.

As I said so the first two pancakes was not that good because that the pancakes were very diluted, so it wasn’t that good. Because of that we added more flour.

This activity can help us in the real life because, now we know how to make pancakes and if we know how to make pancakes we can make it at home and not just pancakes, we can make a lot of thing, like waffles and breakfast etc.

French

In this project we audio a text and it was pretty hard cause that some of the words I don’t really know and so I didn’t practice that much so it was kind of hard for me to say all the words but some of the words I do know is because I did pay attention to words it is just that I am not that good at it and it is just a bit hard for me with the vowels like ou, ai and other ones. I just need to practice more with my pronunciation. I did improve because when I started I didn’t even know how to say it.

Unit 2 force

What did I learned

I learned about the three laws from Newton. The three laws from Newton is inertia which is the first law, the second law is F=MA which is Force equals mass x acceleration, the third law is “Every action has an opposite reaction” -Issac Newton. We learned about how these force act.

What did I do?

We did science experiments like the balloon car and the egg challenge. We also did the roller coaster drawing which is drawing a roller coaster model. For now we are going to do a egg cart challenge which is to make a cart that can make the egg stay inside and not falling out.

What worked?

The balloon car worked but the balloon car when its time for it to test. We used the way they did it in the video because our cart didn’t work out the way we thought.

What didn’t work?

The egg cart challenge, our cart didn’t work because that we made the thing for the egg too big and we can’t make the cart fit the track. So, it didn’t work, also we didn’t have that much tape so we couldn’t fix it.

Personal relevance

I learned how to collaborate with other people not just my friends also I learned about the three forces and how to make a cart by just using paper.

Unit 1 Campaign of the Olympic Reflection

What did I work on?

During the campaign I worked on making the presentation/PPT. I worked on my criterions for example, my tourist attraction and why my city should host the Olympics. I also worked on what does Los Angeles have and the introduction, conclusion.

What did I learn?

I learned that if you want to host the Olympics then we need to have a good reason for why we can host the Olympics. Like economy, economy is a good one because, you need to have enough money to host an Olympics. Los Angeles almost half of the people had a criterion about economy.

What worked what didn’t work?

Transportation didn’t quite work out because we can’t find enough examples for transportation or can’t find any. So we didn’t choose that criterion for our presentation. It worked out that tourist attraction is a good one because that we have Hollywood which is a place that famous people act inside. We have Disneyland, MLB games and NBA games.

Personal Relevance

Communication is quite important. If there is no communication then we won’t know how to tell each other the things that happen, the things we predict. Also, communication is quite important for our future because we need better communication skills to help us solve problems in work, family etc. So, communication is important

Analyzing characters

The first picture shows when I first wrote about character traits and it wasn’t that great but in the second picture, it was my end of the unit post. I changed my writing by using Toad, the most significant character traits.

Table Tennis:

Forehand: We learned how to do a forehand serve and how to hit the ball with forehand. 🙂

backhand: We learned about how to serve with backhand and we learned how to rally with each other.

I improved my table tennis because When I first learned it I don’t even know how to serve but now I know how to hit the ball even that I can win the game!

I was good that I know how to play table tennis. 😀

No, because I am not that interested =)

I improved on how to play table tennis

I am proud of that now I know how to play it
