PE Target Games

In the target games unit, we practiced our ability to throw things precisely.

A memorable activity was Frisbee golf, where we tried to throw a Frisbee towards a goal in the fewest throws possible. It practiced our ability to control not only the directions but also the distance of our throw, which is crucial when playing.

Another activity that was slightly boring was corn hole, where we threw bean bags at a board and tried to let it land on the board.

Both of these activities made me grow as a better player that could countrol distance but I still need to practice better posture in frisbee so I could throw straight shots.

Track and Field unit reflection

Above is part of my group performance. In this unit, we did the 100m, the high jump, and the long jump. Later, we would do more activities. I’m currently in bad shape compared to others, but I’m doing well in Javelin. I need to actively participate in basketball trainings and improve my running.

Pickleball unit reflection

In the last unit, I started playing pickleball. I practiced how to serve and understand the rules of pickleball. I also trained to vary my shots to maximize my performance.

As seen in the grading, my performance in the unit is average. However, I wish to adapt to the unique materials of the pickleball paddle so I could vary my shots without risking going out of bounds.

PE Badminton Unit Reflection

In this unit, we studied our badminton skills, especially drop shots and smashes. These are new skills built on top of backhand and forehand returns. What I am proud of was by up-backhand ability as I am able to return shots at difficult positions. I still need to work on my smashes and drop shots as they often end up out of bounds.

PE Outdoor Invasion Unit Reflection+Water Polo

In this unit, we are learning soccer in P.E. We learned how to transition from offense to defense and the other way around. I had improved in my transition skills in soccer as I am able to both play defense and offense. I still need to work on my skills in dribbling as I cannot keep the ball safe.

I also did water polo in swimming unit. I was able to make shots but I need to do better in saying on top of the water as I required a float. I am proud of my effort in game.

PE Table Tennis Unit Reflections

The first unit of the year is about table tennis. I strengthened my understanding of serving, adding spin, and doubles rules. During the unit, I gained a deeper understanding of how to utilize spin in powerful shots, often committing to serves and returns that my opponents cannot easily return. That is my strength I found in this unit. However, I need to improve on my skills of rotating with my partner correctly and using smart placement of the shot to make easy ones impossible to return.

These are my grades for the unit. They are generally acceptable, but there is still space for improvement. If I would play more, I could decrease the time I spend to react to shots and find the right place to position my shots.

Semester 1 Report Card Reflection

My report card was relatively stable during the first semester, and there were no approaching grades. I am proud of my high grade in English Language Arts, as I had multiple exceeding grades. I did great in making a dystopian storyline and pitching it to others. (Partly due to the soft grading of Ms. Devin) However, I did badly on math as it was my strong subject, and I didn’t get even one exceeding, even though my grades didn’t look bad. (Mainly 3 and 3.5’s) If I would go back and change something about how I approach this semester, it would be that I would want to be cautious with tests and review for it as the first scores of formatives hit me hard in the start of this semester. Some actions I can do to improve is to review the points the teachers told us that we are going to be accessed on the test, so I can clearly know the format of answering and ways to correctly calculate the answer. Below is my report card.

PE Reflection-Floor Hockey

We did floor hockey in the indoor invasion games unit, and I did well. I made a breakthrough in my understanding of floor hockey when I knew how to work with the defensive side and use long passes to get an advantage in attacking. I also learned to go back and help in defense so we could block the opponents’ offense. When our team was behind in scoring, I encouraged my teammates not to randomly shoot but to find chances to score. One challenge during this unit was communications. Since the court was too big, some teammates who cannot yell loud cannot communicate well. I helped with this case by using my loud voice to command my teammates. I also developed leadership skills in communicating with this act. Below are my grades for the unit.

Badminton unit: Controlling your force

(The picture is found on the internet, I didn’t play badminton on grass.)

In PE lately, we started on our Badminton unit. I was late to join the group but still received a lot of knowledge. In the unit, we learned to hit high shots, flink short shots, serve in the right direction, and practice spiking.  I practiced and used all of these in matches, but I still feel I didn’t do well enough in some parts. This unit challenged me in how I play badminton. I sometimes use too much force or swing too fast, making me lose valuable points. Over practice, cases like that reduced but I plan on improving more. Also, my serves needed to be in a specific area, so over time I also got better at serving high and low shots, so that was challenging too. During the unit, I developed some basic mindsets of playing. I would first clear a shot to pull the opponent back, then for a light touch to force the opponent to a high shot and finish it off with a spike or a clear on the side. That sometimes worked, but mostly I switch between going short and long.

PE-Underhand serve

This is my P.E unit underhand serve score for volleyball. I chose this because I did well on this and found the way to improve. I learned to rotate my body and hit with the joints. If I were to do this again I might try not throwing the ball up that high to serve.
