Our game in the probability fair is a two-step game that consists of spinning a wheel and choosing 1 path to try to win the prize. During the process, Harrison brought the prizes and helped to set up our set, Brendan designed the poster and made things fancy, while I operated the stand and engineered the path.
We didn’t lose a lot of prizes and took them home, which went well. It might be because winning just the lowest price has a 1/8 chance, making it pretty scammy. We didn’t work to our best, and our prizes aren’t so good. (Went badly) Thus, our stand was not that attention-drawing, making us not very popular.
Our experimental probability of winning is significantly lower than our theoretical one, at around 8%, while our theoretical probability is 12.5%. We aren’t sure why, but I might relate it to a skill issue as people lost a lot in the 2nd stage.
SLC reflection
Above are my slides of the SLC I just did last week.
Generally, the SLCs went smoothly, and my talking was effective and clear. I performed much better than I did during the practices. One major takeaway is that sticking to a script isn’t always the best way of presenting as using a script minimizes interaction and new ideas. Another takeaway is that when I really think about my learning. I didn’t do that bad. I gave low thoughts to my score but I think I should have more confidence.
I can apply my pace in presentation and my confidence in the rest of the year so I won’t easily back down during a pressured presentation. I might change how I had so much text on my slides since it was very distracting. Also, next time I would use the big maxhub to present.

Above is the ending frame of the video for my presentation. We are supposed to make a video that goes with our speech.
We chose to do our presentation in video since video is the best way to show video games, as both are moving. I found many official trailers and gameplay videos of old and new games that were used in the speech. Me and my partner used a lot of special effects that made the video interesting but not too distracting.
One thing that we did well on is to use the gameplay of old video games and trailers of new games in my video, which made both Mr. Tyner and the classmates feel suprised.
One thing that I need to improve on is video length. Even though I checked the video length at first with the script, my reading speed was different in the speech, so some parts had too much time, and some parts were too fast.
Social Studies Unit 3: Essay
Above is our script for our presentation of Shigeru Miyamoto, a famous game designer in Nintendo.
In the research stage of this paragraph, me and my partner used a graphic organizer to organize the information we researched. Then, me and my partner combined our information and chose three pieces of essays/videos that we used to become the evidence of our paragraph.
I split up the work with my partner and I wrote the first paragraph and the ending, and my partner wrote the second paragraph and the opening. After finishing the first draft, we revised using peer feedback and got a solid meeting.
Something I did well was to mention avoiding the trend and reflecting it in the closing paragraph. I also did well in mentioning games that Miyamoto made as examples. (I know many Nintendo games)
Something I need to do better is to improve my reasoning as it didn’t really convey how impactful Miyamoto was since I didn’t list any examples of the games impacted by him.
