Designing a Story Problem Reflection

My story models people investing on different companies and if they gain or lose money. The part of my project that I am most proud of is the story because it is a great way to model real life. The hardest part of creating our piecewise function was calculating the slope because I crammed everything on half a piece of paper, and it caused me to miscalculate some of the equations. If I could revise one part of the project, I would help my partner write a more detailed analysis and make sure I don’t miscalculate the slope. This project helped me understand what piecewise functions are and how they can be modeled in a real life situation.

The Box Reflection

In the Box, what we did was create a tissue box with your specific design specifications(in my case was memphis) My memphis design had to have red, blue, green, yellow, and other memphis heavy colors, while having the overall theme. Something that I’m proud of is I was able to follow all the criteria and do everything correctly. Something I think I need to improve on is to make the tissue box a little more memphis themed. Even though mine was good, it could be better in theme and color.

Vex Challenge Reflection

For our Vex robotics unit, what we did was try to complete 3 challenges. which were the Speed robot challenge, the wall racer, and finally, the stacking challenge.

Something that we did well in was the Speed challenge. This was because our gear ratio made our robot fast enough, and the robot was easy to control. This led to us getting first place.

The challenges that me and partner went through was the stacking challenge and the wall racer. This was because in the wall racer, our robot always went right and left, and this made it so that we weren’t able to complete the race. The problem with the stacking challenge was that we always got stuck on the ramp area even though it was working when we practiced.

In our Box Unit, what we did was create a tissue box with our specific design.

Outdoor Invasion Games

During PE class, we learned how to dribble the soccer ball, shoot, positions, and how to play offense. At the beginning of the unit I didn’t know how to shoot and dribble that well, but after 8 lessons of soccer, I am familiar with it more. In conclusion, I feel like soccer is a good way to relax and it is a fun outdoor invasion game.

Swimming/Water Polo

During PE class, we were learning how to play water polo and swim faster. At the beginning of the unit, I didn’t know how to play water polo and I haven’t swam for almost 2 years. At the end of the unit, I was able to recognize water polo positions, how to play, the rules, dribble, etc. For swimming I was able to be more comfortable and familiar with it, and be able to tread water better.

Semester 1 Active Learner Reflection

My current goal is to

My goal is to try and talk to my friends less, and focus more on the teacher’s instructions.

I am most proud of being prepared for assessments and projects before submission, my biggest challenge is to maybe focus a little more in class and talk less to friends. I have demonstrated qualities in active learner by preparing effectively and staying positive, I would like to improve more on focusing next quarter.

Math Unit 1 Celebration of Learning Reflection

I chose question 1 in the L4 as demonstration of my best thinking because it shows I am able to understand and apply solving for unknown angles and reason. Another question that’s evidence of my best thinking is 2, as it shows my dilation skills and I am able to use dilations and find points. I didn’t know dilations before, so this is an improvement.

Throughout this unit, I improved the most at Transformations. Before learning transformations in this unit, I didn’t know anything, but I am able to use it well now. I feel that I still need to work on finding congruency. I am able to do it, but it takes time, so I think that I need to improve by finding congruency faster. I think 3 of my strengths are geometry, equations, and factoring. 3 things that I want to improve on next unit are linear equations and quadratic equations.

In the next unit, I want to learn more about slope. Some things that might get in the way of goal are me not having enough motivation to learn, if I get stuck, I need to remind myself of this goal to learn.

I liked my design of my rocket ship, I wish to use more geometric shapes to make it a little more complex and better looking. Furthermore, if I add more geometric shapes, I am able to use more transformations, then I am able get a higher score.

Unit One ELA Reflection

In Unit 1, something I learned during this unit is articles, interjections, prepositions, prepositional phrases, connotation and denotation. Before learning about this in class, I may be able to use these, but don’t know exactly where they are and where specifically they should go. I am proud of being able to being able to successfully understand and use grammar properly because even though most people can, they don’t do it consciously. I should improve on using connotation and denotation because these are very important in describing scenes and making a descriptive view for the readers.

My Artifact(Alien Paragraph): Beneath the star-speckled horizon of my interstellar mission, I arrived on Earth with a purpose that’s straight-up fire, no cap. My objective is a critical assessment of human nature, a delicate dance of observation and understanding that pulses with electric potential. The cold metallic hum of my spacecraft contrasted sharply with the warm, vibrant energy of human communication, each sound wave carrying layers of unspoken meaning. Some might say I’m just here to spy, but that’s cap—my purpose is far more significant than simple surveillance. Through careful, methodical observation, I’ve been collecting intricate data about human behavior, language, and social dynamics. Their psychological landscapes are like ancient, complex manuscripts waiting to be decoded. The crisp autumn air carries whispers of potential: are humans a threat, or could they be collaborative partners? Propositions become my analytical tools, positioning my understanding around their intricate social structures, through their communication patterns, and beneath the surface of their seemingly simple exchanges. Every linguistic nuance provides critical insights, from formal grammatical structures with pulsing rhythms of casual slang. In their communication lies the precision: nouns naming complex concepts, verbs describing dynamic actions, adjectives painting vivid emotional landscapes, and adverbs modulating the intensity of each expression. Compound sentences reveal the interconnected nature of human thought, while complex sentences demonstrate the depth of their cognitive processes. The way humans use pronouns to shift perspective, the conjunctions that bridge disparate ideas, and the interjections that burst with raw emotion—all become data points in my comprehensive research. My investigation extends beyond mere observation; it is a profound exploration of a species teetering between potential conflict and collaboration. Prepositional phrases dissect the depth of their expression, with words flowing like rivers of meaning, carrying the subtle currents of empathy, conflict, and connection. The sensory memories of each interaction compile a detailed profile: the warm resonance of understanding, the sharp tang of linguistic discordance, the cool touch of unexpected insight. My mission is to determine whether humanity represents a potential threat or is a possible collaborative species, and these humans are as fascinating beyond measure. Their communication serves as a bridge between different worlds, each conversation adding another layer to the complex tapestry of interspecies understanding. Through patient, meticulous analysis, I am unraveling the intricate psychological and communicative mechanisms that define human existence, transforming my initial cautious approach into a nuanced, deeply empathetic exploration of an extraordinary species that continues to surprise me with its complexity, depth, and unexpected potential.

PE Table Tennis Unit Reflection

The First Unit of the year is table tennis. I strengthened my understanding in serving by practicing with my friends. I improved my backhand and forehand shots by applying more spin so that my opponent has problems returning the shot. Something that I need to improve on is my serve, because my opponents can usually return it, so that means I need to add more spin. Additionally, in doubles, me and my partner needs better coordination. When I return their surve, I need to instantly get out of the way so that my partner can return their shot.

I am proud of my grades, because this sport is something I used to do outside of school.
