Unit 2 summative

So my formatives were honestly really bad. 1’s and 2’s but my new summatives were better but still not that good. This is because it although had 2 meetings had a barely 2.5 since in the CERER you can see the eraser marks 🙁

I am actually proud of my outline since I got a 3. I think it was pretty detailed and good because it had a lot of words and it just was more convincing that I know what I did.

Conventions are a challenge for me because grammar and punctuation are really hard for me. This is because I always forget how to do everything and where to put periods and where not to.

Ms. Devin said that I should study the PPT. I did do this and I improved from Beginning’s to Approaching’s So I basically did use the feedback from teachers..

If I could redo this summative I would study conventions a lot more. This is because its the main part I did bad at.

To improve in Unit 3 i would tell myself to STUDY.

I want to get meetings for Unit 3 so I wouldn’t fail.

Me as a collaborater in ELA

When I was placed in my new table groups I didn’t know my table mates. This made me not want to talk since I don’t like talking with new people. I didn’t participate in connectors and things like that. A bit later I gradually talked more and began to participate so I think that I need to talk even more.

When my table decides who should take and put away the folders we had a system. First person to come gets the folders, last to come will put them away. I followed it and it went smoothly.

When turn and talking I would talk (for real). Although most of the time this “talking” would be talking for 5-6 sentences. Sometimes I actually would talk decently though.

When I was forced to talk I would talk a bit but not be very elaborative. I sometimes like in very special occasion I would raise my hand (in ELA).

In both of these activities (Making a story and product branding) my partner was Andy. I didn’t like his ideas but I played along and we eventually worked together ok.

I would give myself a 2 since I need to improve and not always be forced to talk.

Other people might describe me as quiet and not talkative (maybe even weird).

Unit 2 Formative 1 for ELA

In my formatives, I scored really bad. This was because I did not study and was sick. But on my summatives I studied. I got grades ranging from 2.5 – 3. This shows that I improved but still can improve more. I am proud that I improved my grades from a 1.5 in the formative in 3’s and 2.5’s in the summatives. I think conventions are my challenges because they are complicated

Social Studies Unit 2: Visual Presentation

I improved on being confident when I present since I used to be really bad at presenting. I would like fidget and not speak loud/ clear enough which would mostly be an issue, now I can decently speak in a ok volume and not fidget too much although I still move. I also got better at animating since my project was a stop motion.

I can as of right now learn to project my voice and speak louder so I can sound even more clear and then people can hear me when I speak. I can also learn to stand still to stop the moving because it is distracting.

My next steps are to wait for the next presentation. Then when it comes I will control myself and force myself to speak loud, not use filler words and freeze but still move my hands a bit. This makes it more easier for the audience to listen and not get distracted by my movements.

Here is a picture of my Stop motion

We had to make a presentation about what the impact of some technology had on society. I chose to make a stop motion since its fun and I had some experience in making one.

I did well on making the video, presenting and doing it on time since my grades say I did ok. I need to improve on Essay writing since I didn’t do well on that but that is in another portfolio post and focusing since I was talking to Ethan a lot.

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay

In Social Studies we were writing a lot of essays and CER’s. I used to not be able to write the CER’s complete and I didn’t understand the Reasoning part of CER. Now I know that the Reasoning is basically how the Evidence connects to the Claim. Also now I am getting better at writing the essays completely but I still have to improve on things like grammar and clearness.

This is because I repeat a lot and some of my sentences are vague. If I fix these little issues I think I might be able to get Meetings or higher.

As of right now I can now just focus on when writing essays and CER’s to be careful of being formal, correct grammar and being as specific as possible. My next steps are to definitely improve on writing my Reasoning longer since right now it is short.

To write an essay you first need to get some research, then you organize it into a graphic organizer. After that you write the C, then the E and finally the R.

I did well on getting correct research and putting it all together and then organizing it.

Here is my essay!

Unit 3 Math Reflection

Now I know how to use percentages in life, how to calculate them, and how to deduct them from other things using the part/whole percent equation: a = b% or the change percent equation: Δ/og = %/100

I learned a lot about percentages and rates. These are all very important since in everyday life you are surrounded by them like in sales, tips, tax and interest. All of these will let you be able to live a good life in the economy

This unit was fun since we got to learn about money, which is everything if you have enough of it. This is important since everyone has to know how to deal with money or else you would be cooked.

For me a very hard part of this unit was understanding the parts. I started off not really understanding the lesson but after some help from reviewing, Google and AI (yes i used it, not on homework though) I eventually got the hang of it. IN short I improved a lot and this unit is important.

Science Unit 2

I chose to answer “What happens to our bodies when we get sick?”. I learned that all organelles in a cell all work together. This helped me answer the question by knowing that if one malfunctions all will then malfunction. This let me realize that the ENTIRE body is made up of all different organelles and cells that make up subsystems.

I remember when we watched a movie about CTP2. This was fun and engaging and I learned about different diseases. Also we dissected organs which was really disgusting but we got to actually see what organs and everything is and how they actually look like. Finally Ethan and I made a clay model of the digestive system which let me learn how the digestive system functions and the different organs inside.

Health Unit of Deciding

The DECIDE model is a mode, helping you to decide what to do. It consists of 6 steps which are:
Define the problem
Explore options
Consequences
Include values
Decide what to do
Evaluate what you did

The DECIDE model is very helpful when making decisions when under pressure or peer pressure. This can be used when you don’t know what to do.

I learned that drugs are very bad and addictive , and are made to attract teens. The drugs will have really bad side effects on health and finance.

Unit 2 Math reflection

I know now how to calculate the scale factor, scaling up and down and also how to make things bigger and smaller by using equations like sf = copy/og or others.

I learned a lot about scale and scale factor. This made me more knowledgable tl calculate things like making something bigger scaled up or down.

This unit is interesting because we got to draw and solve real world issues that might actually happen to us like carving, mapping and like calligraphy.

For me drawing straight lines and doing mental long division was kind of hard since I am not good at those things. This is because I struggle with using rulers and also doing things in my brain.

Swimming Unit PE

In swimming we had artistic swimming. In this we learned on how to float or skull. I improved a lot on floating since now I can float longer. Then we had a performance where we put it all together.
