Unit 4 Dystopian Fiction Reflection

What did I learn about Dystopian Fiction?

I learn the characteristics of Dystopian Fiction, how to identify the characteristics, and how to write a Literature Discussion on Dystopian Fiction. I also learned that a lot of the things that are alarming in the book also happens in the real world.

How does Dystopian Fiction encourage me to think about real life?

It encourage me to see the problems in real life that are also in Dystopian Fiction. And understand why some alarming things in the book that isn’t real, could benefit the real world.

I enjoyed The Giver because it was a interesting book and it had a lot of suspense.

How has my ability to write Academic Paragraphs improved?

My ability to write an Academic Paragraph has improved because I learned to structure, and finding evidence that match the context.

How have i become better at Literature Discussions?

I became better at Literature Discussion because I learned how to validate others

Football Reflection

What did you learn?

I learned how to dribble, shoot, and play matches.

What helped?

The drills help me with the basics.

What is something that you are proud of?

I am proud of my defense skills

What is something you can work on?

I can work on dribbling .

Math Bake Sale Reflection

What did I do?

Recreate a bake sale.

What did I learn?

How to calculate the rate and unit rates.

What worked?

We sold a lot of our baked goods.

What did not work well?

We didn’t sell all our baked goods.

How is this relevant for me?

It helps me in real life about marketup and profits.

Unit 2 Refection

  1. What did I work on?
  1. During this unit, ‘Why should we care about the past?’, I worked on
  1. Making observations, inferences and wonderings
  1. Using photos and articles as evidence
  1. Writing a CER paragraph
  1. Asking and answering open and closed questions
  1. Taking part in the Otzi Mock Trial, my role was Defense Lawyer 4
  1. What did I learn? Why should we care about the past?
  1. We should care about the past because it helps us understand things that are related to the past. Similarly, this also helps us understand why some places are different from other places. Finally, it helps us understand why the world is how it is right now.
  1. What worked well?
  1. I am proud of the following work in my CER paragraph, writing closed questions and preparing for the mock trial.
  1. I am proud of the work above because I wrote a CER paragraph with a claim, 3 pieces of evidence and reasoning, and a conclusion. Secondly, I wrote closed questions that proved that Ötzi didn’t die because of injuries and trauma. Likewise, I was prepared for my mock trial.
  1. What did not work well?
  1. I found some of this work challenging, writing the closing statement, and talking on the stand in front of a lot of juries.
  1. I found the work above challenging because firstly I didn’t really know how to transition from different evidence. Similarly, standing on the stand in front of the whole jury was very scary for me.
  1. Personal Relevance
  1. Collaboration and communications skills are important in my future because it would help me collaborate with my peers and share my ideas with others.
  1. This is a photo of my work for my KWL.

Balloon Car Reflection

What did I do?

I built a balloon car. The Balloon Car was built using styrofoam, a balloon, 4 wheel, 3 straws, and a lot of tape. We used it to learn about the 4 different types of forces.

What did I learn?

Newton’s 1st law says that an object at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon another force or object and an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon another force or object. We see this law in action when the Balloon Car was not moving and moved because of the force from the balloon air. Newton’s 2nd law says force equals to mass times acceleration, F=MA. We see this law when the Balloon Car’s balloon was bigger the further it went. Newton’s 3rd law says that every action has its equal opposite reaction. We see this law when the balloon car goes forward because of the balloon air.

What worked ?
The balloon car worked well because it went really far. We to make it the balloon car smaller. So it went further.

What didn’t work well?

It was a struggle when the balloon car sometimes went sideways. To solve this we made the balloon car smaller. After we made the balloon car smaller it went further.

Personal Relevance

It is like when I am sitting at the back of the bicycle and my dad is riding he will need more force to make the bicycle move. I see Newton’s 1st Law when my dad needs to start the car to make the car move forward. It is important for everyone to know about Newton’s Laws to understand how a lot of things work.

Egg Car Reflection

What did I do?

The criteria of the Egg Car was to create a car that doesn’t break the egg inside and is within the constraints that was made by the teachers

What did I learn?

I learned that the third and first law of Newton is shown in the Egg Car experiment. The first law of Newton is shown when the Egg Car bumps on the bricks and the egg cracks because it wants to keep on moving forward. The third law of Newton is when the car bumps on the bricks the egg breaks because the equal and opposite force is given back.

What worked?

The egg survived the crash.

What didn’t go well?

The car kept on flipping when we were testing it.

Personal Relevance

Now I know that a seat belt are very important for keeping people safe

Unit 2 – Growth and Development

1. Why is it important to understand the changes that occur during puberty?

It is important to understand the changes during puberty because it helps us prepare for puberty.

2.What is the change that you feel most confident about?

The change that I am most confident about is body hair.

3.What is the change that you feel most concerned about?

The change that I am most concerned about is getting my menenstration.

4.When you look for information online , how can you ensure that it is credible and appropriate?

I ensure that the website I am using is credible and appropriate by only using the website the teacher gives me.

5. What is one aspect of your learning you want to improve on moving forward?

One aspect of my learning that I want to improve on moving forward is effective communicator.

6.My project

Puberty Guide 101.pptx

Unit 1 Recording

1.Take a screenshot of the recording.

2.Explain what was hard and why?

It was hard because sometimes I don’t understand what the teacher means in french.

3.Explain what was quite easy?

Introducing myself was easy.

4.Describe how you sounded like during the first few days of school. Did you improve.

I sounded weird. And I did improve.
