I choose to make 2 cars (Old Cars & New Cars). I made a road in the middle, saying the new car is going the other direction of the old car. I had the positive and negative impacts. For the old car, I made a floppy one with a bad front. The new one with good wheels and good steering wheel. The old one doesn’t really go fast and the newer one goes faster.
In this unit, I chose the essential question, “How do our body systems work together when we play our favorite sport.” The mitochondria produces the energy and give what is needed for muscle contraction and endurance. My topic is about swimming, and using the nervous system, the muscular system and the mitochondria. The nervous system sends signals for the muscular system for it to move, because the muscular system can’t move itself
I chose to do a Canva model with some description. This model represents the cell of a human body and what each organelle does and helps for swimming. In my 2nd page, I wrote the function of each organelle does. I put the nucleus at first, because it is the most important part and the main part of the organelle.
We did a DECIDE model talking about cigarettes and me and my partner wrote about all the consequence and the options I can do. We made all the conflicts, found all the ways I can do to avoid and what will happen if I actually do it. We can tell our friends, telling them not to do it, telling them all the consequences and telling them what would happen if they don’t do it.
This unit, we learned about media and health literacy. We did a project which we talked about benefits about video games. We didn’t find evidence, so we can’t trust the person that made the video. So we made a video talking about the benefits about video games. We used the CRAAP test for our evidence, for currency, we did January 13 2025. For relevance, we said “The video takes about how video games have cognitive benefits.”
I used to think people that have doctor before their name was always trustworthy, and I learned not everything is trustworthy even though they are doctors. If you want to identify if the information is trustworthy or not, use CRAAP to identify it.
My peers told me not to say filler words like umm and stopping the presentation. They said my connotation was good and my language choice was good. They told me to explain more about the picture, so on my final presentation, I explained more about the pictures. I’m proud that I made the format good, and used the feedback from my peers. I think I should add a video next time to get more evidence.
Explain 1 positive outcome of people having the same perspective might be. 1 positive outcome of people having the same perspective might be people agreeing to a good idea to the community with no fights involved.
Explain 1 negative outcome of people having the same perspective might be. 1 negative outcome of people having the same perspective might be there might not be better ideas, and people will be scared to get their own opinion to share to the community.
Masterchef was a fun way for us to bond with friends. First we learned the the groups for the food (protein, carbs, and vegetable) We made guac for vegetable, nachos for carbs, banana bread for carbs, and grilled chicken for protein. If we can change something. If we can change something, we will bring milk next time for dairy. Vegetables give you fiber, so you can poop. Carbs give you energy, and meat gives you protein. We will put a little bit of sugar next time, so it kind of tastes better. Overall, I think we did a good job this unit.
This unit, we learned about lab safety, learning about science equipments, and the procedures. My strengths include following lab safety rules, working well with groups, taking accurate measurements, and making clear observations. My weaknesses are that I sometimes rush into experiments without reviewing safety steps, mix up unit conversions, take over too much in group work, and struggle with connecting reasoning in my CERs. I enjoyed using lab equipment, working with my group, making observations, and using data to support my claims. The parts I didn’t enjoy as much were wearing goggles for long periods, rewriting hypotheses, cleaning up after labs, and writing very detailed explanations. If we can do it again, I would love to do it again. I want to do more experiments.
We did this project called the Food Journal which reflects our diet. I think I eat a healthy diet because I eat a decent amount of carbs, protein, and fats. I need to eat more vegetables, even though I eat some, I don’t eat purple vegetables, so that means I don’t have a great heart. I eat a lot of vegetables but not purple. The main macronutrients I am eating are rice (carbohydrates) and meat (beef, pork, chicken; as part of my protein. As a result, I need to eat more radish/onion/purple vegetables. I think I should eat some purple vegetables at the morning to make my brain going.
The three norms of collaboration is pausing, putting ideas on the table, and paying attention to myself and others. I am strongest at pausing, listening to other people’s idea and thoughts. I need to improve putting ideas on the table not just listening. We played a game called Splendid and played a simulation where we traded things like goods and disease. If I need to change something, I would change better things.
