We started by completing an investigation to determine the relationship between potential energy and height. We also built a model, we collected data and finished the lab report.
What did we do?
Me and my partner made cupcakes for our grade. We calculated the ingredients by using the list of measurements. We also made the price by using the double number line strategy.
What did we learn?
We learned how to calculate unit rates and rates. We learned how to use percentages properly. We completed the 7 parts of making the price and marking the ingredients.
What worked?
I am proud of me and my partner selling most of the cupcakes out, because our homemade cupcakes are actually good. I am proud of myself calculating the ingredients.
What did not work?
I shouldn’t decrease the price to ¥6 because it’s too cheap. Me and my partner could also collaborate more.
Personal Relevance
This project could improve my selling skills and making skills. Additionally, It will improve my collaboration and communication with someone.

What did I do ?
Me and my partner builded an egg car that can put an egg in it and could drive smoothly through the steep ramp. The egg car was made from plastic wheels with rubber tires, a few sheets of paper and a straw rapper. We tried to add a stronger layer of crumple zone.
What did I learn ?
I learned that when two objects are running to each other more force will add together when they bumped together. All of Newton’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd Law are showing on the egg car.
What worked ?
Our crumple zone is protective and we put the egg in the seat so the egg won’t fall out. The structures of our egg car is very strong.
What didn’t work ?
Our car rolls too fast when the real egg is inside. More speed meant that more force is acting on it, and more force meant more power to hit the concrete brick, which will make the egg crack.
Personal Relevance
An egg car needs a stronger crumple zone, heavy mass and a safe place where the eggs could stay.

What did we do ?
We built a balloon car by using materials like straws, mini wheels, a plastic plate and a balloon. We used these balloon cars to show that all Newton’s Laws of Motion are true. During this unit we also used it to
What did I learn in Newton’s Laws of Motion ?
Newton’s 1st Law says that when an object is at rest it wants to stay at rest unless there is an unbalanced force acting on it. Same when the object is moving it wants to stay at motion unless something stops it.
Newton’s 2nd Law says that when the object has more mass slower the car will move. F=MA is the math formula of Newton’s 2nd Law.
Newton’s 3rd Law says that when two objects interact, they apply forces to each other of equal magnitude and opposite direction.
What worked ?
The balloon car worked well because me and my two partners were testing which part will the straw fit the best. We had to fill the air in the balloon many times.
What didn’t worked ?
We were struggling when the air kept leaking when we were holding the tail part.
Personal Relevance :
The balloon car was like the cars we see in real life but with less force and can’t go far. The balloon car have the same type of force like cars, pushing it to move.
What are we doing?
Writing a fictional story based on a theme that matters to me.
What are we learning?
We are learning theme (my purpose for writing this story, my message to readers), character development (creating believable characters with positive & negative traits), plot (the sequence of events in my story; Western and Eastern approaches to storytelling) and setting (the world that I create for my story).
What was working:
I enjoyed editing it and writing the setting of the story and what happened. My story is about survival and friendship and the proud part is when one of my character can hear what other people thinks. I got this idea from the books Sputnik’s Guide and Last Day On Mars. These books gave me the theme friendship and survival. My favorite and proud part of my story is this part “Harvey wants to save humanity, save Earth, and save the whole universe from being crushed together.”, because it shows what the main character’s dream is and how big is it.
My areas for growth:
I decide to add the friendship theme because I found out that survival by its self is boring. I like to add friendship because talking to friends in the last day is an important thing. I don’t like the dialogue part because it’s not giving enough information about the story.
Personal Relevance:
Creative writing could help me thinking deeper and having good imaginations even when I’m not planning to be an author. I really enjoy creative writing because it’s the writing of freeness and creativity. I would like to continue this type of story writing.
What did I learn in this unit?
In this unit I learned that everyone grows different and everyone will go through adolescence or puberty between the ages 8 to 16.
Why is puberty important?
It is important because we need to understand and not panic when your puberty had began.
What did I do in this unit?
I made a PPT about what will we happen during puberty.
What did I do?
I used my critical thinking to discover what skills does every card do in the Indi robot car and make the tracks work in the Gravitrax project.
What did I learn?
I learned that critical thinking will be graded. I also learned how to think carefully before doing anything.
What worked?
I thought critically by testing the color cards and write down their abilities on the key. These cards made the Indi car do different kinds of action for example turn left, Slow down, spin and so on.
What did not worked?
I struggled which piece of Gravitrax brick will work with the short bridge better because I didn’t observe all of the bricks’ abilities.
Personal Relevance
Today’s learning will help me improve thinking carefully and critically.
What did I work on in this unit?
During the Campaign for the Olympics unit, me and Sean (my partner) worked on collecting data for our presentation and answering my question on the first lesson. I searched for pictures and useful information to make our presentation more interesting. I customized the PPT on Canva with colors of Los Angeles, U.S.A.’s flag. Of course, my partner and I practiced many times before the presentation.
What did I learn in this unit?
I learned how to let Sparky; an AI learning assistant help us design an Olympic logo of LA. We also learned to split the work fairly and efficiently, for example I could do the information 1-2 and introduction, then my partner could do the logo and information 3-4. That large cities have more abilities to host the Olympics because its economy, transportation and geographic positions are good, and I got these facts on Britannica.
What was working?
We used Canva to make the presentation and it was working well. We paste pictures that were related to the topic. We used the script and copied down the words on notecards then we started preparing the presentation.
What wasn’t working?
Sometimes my partner was absent, so I must do the presentation myself which was hard. The Wi-Fi sometimes doesn’t work, and the AI assistant won’t give me the answer. So, I had to work with him on weekends.
Personal Relevance
I think from this project I learned a lot of skills facts and good teamwork. The present the PPT in front of a small group of people made me brave after. I put pictures that focus on the topic and made the background colors the same as the color of the host country.

- My group shared the safety message ” Call for help and throw the life jacket to the drowning person as fast as you can! ”
- This behavior might save people’s lives before going to the hospital.
- I could use this skill to save people as fast as I can.
