Unit II – Ötzi Unit Reflection

Unit II – Ötzi Unit Reflection

What did I work on?

I worked on an Ötzi mock trial that we prepared for a mock trial. The mock trial was about whether the iceman was murdered or not. We also wrote a paragraph about Claim Evidence and Reasoning. We also learn how to identify open questions and closed questions.

What did we learn?

We learned about why we have to care about the past and we have to care about the past.  by learning about the past you can know what to do when the same thing happens to you again. It is also important to learn about the past because it also can teach us about our culture.

What worked well?

I am proud of my mock trial because I got to win the mock. I think I did well on asking closed ended questions to the expert witness so I think I did well. I think helped our defense team to win the mock.

What did not work?

I think I can do better in my CER paragraph because I think I did not write that much in my cer paragraph so if I could improve I would do better on that. I would also do better on my question because some questions were weak.  I would also try to improve on my sketch notes because I only had a little bit of drawings.

Personal relevance

This activity will be important in my future because in the future I might do another debate and I will win again like the ones I did this time. I think this was an really important activity because it helps me to win a debate in the future.

Egg car challange

What did I do?

to be succesful in the egg car challenge you had to add an flexible but not allot so it does not bend straight ahead.

What did I learn

In the egg car challenge we can learn about Newton 3rd law. The 3rd law is seen in the egg car challenge when the crumple zone goes in because the crumple zone shows that every action has an equal an opposite reaction by squashing and reducing the force.

What worked?

In the design we made the thing that worked was the the egg was really easy to pull out but itt was almost imposible to let the egg come out during the crash because we added an room an cushions to make it tight but soft inside.

what did not work?

I would make an better crumple zone because our crumplezone failed as soon as it hit the wall and the egg cracked. I thing we should make the crumple zone more bigger and more flexible.

personal relevance

now. I know about the crumple zones and how hard people try to make the safest car. I also know that we need an crumple zone and also we need an good base.

Balloon cart challenge

What did I do?

We learned Newtons Law with a ballon cart. The balloon cart was made with using a styrofoam a straw wheel and a balloon. We used it to learn about Newtons law of acceleration.

What did I learn

Newton’s first law says that the thing in rest stays in rest and the thing in action stays in action. Newton’s second law says The more Mass there is the more force needed to move it. Newton 3rd law states that every actions has an equal and opposite reaction.

what worked

testing how 2nd law worked with the balloon cart. we had to putted mass on the cart to see if what Newton second law was. Collaborating with my partner on this work worked especially good.

What did not work?

it was a struggle when making the ballon cart because we tried to put two straws in the balloon. After putting 2 straws in there the air started leaking and we could not win the balloon cart race.

Personal relevance.

The balloon cart was like the roller coaster in the real world.

I see all newtons laws in my daily life because Newton first law of inertia I can see it in my bus when I am coming to school. where I feel like I am getting pushed forward when the car stops suddenly.

It is important to know these laws because it teaches me how important seat belts on and I also can do fun experiments with these laws and because of Newton Thats why we get to ride the roller coasters.

Creative writing

What are we learning?

Theme

The theme to this story is to never gve up because the main character does not give up and wins the race.

Character Development

My character is a guy that does not give up but he can’t manage his anger.

Plot

The plot of the story is an race of F1 racers

Setting

The setting in this story is a true place and it is a track in space

What’s Working:

What story elements did you enjoy planning and writing?

I enjoyed planning the las race because I think there was allot of drama.

What elements of my story are you proud of?

Im proud of the announcers shouting who is winning because I think I made it like the real race

How did you get the idea for your story?

I got the idea from an actual race that happened in spain

The Best Line from My Story: “OHHHH MAX VERSTAPIN IS COMING UP WITH A COMEBACK AND STARTED ATTACKING BOBDY!!!! NO Bobdy tries to stay in his posision by opening up his DRS and he starts ZOOOMING”

Areas for Growth:

What story elements were challenging to plan and write?

It was hard plannning the part where they are training

I enjoyed writing the story because I really liked typing and I wrote about an subject I like

How did you deal with these challenges

I just sat down and began to think

What is your least favorite part of the story?  Why does it bother you?

My least favorite part was the training part because I also did these training but by swimming before and I know it is tiring so it bothers me

Personal Relevance:

How can creative writing help you in real life

It can help me get a job and it can help me in college digree and creative writing can

Do you enjoy creative writing – would you possibly like to continue using your imagination to tell stories that matter to you?

creative writing is my favorite type of writing in school because you can write anything you want so I would love to have one more unite of creative writing

Clay art project: Space Shuttle

I am proud of my space shuttle project because I really made it with all my art knowledge and I also really like thing about space

My project is a space shuttle and I wanted to work in space. I made all the rockets with coils and I made the ship by slabbing the wings and coiling the middle and I used a nife to make the window.

volleyball

I really struggled on doing surves but I think I did well on the power managing but was bad at the aim

I could not let the ball get controlled so I think I have to practice more

My challange on doing the under hand serve was not really good so I need to practice my aim

by swinging my arm alittle less to make it more succesful

I think I have to ake my serve more accurate by putting the ball directly on top of the hand

Campaign for the Olympics

What did I work on?

I worked on making the presentation for the IOC to choose what country should host the Olympics. We also worked on a lot of different brain pops.  We also wrote an KWL chart for the first time to see what we know and what we have to study on more

What did I learn?

We learned about the history of the Olympics and the cause of the Olympics. We also learned why the ancient Greeks made started the Olympics.  we also learned how the IOC members choose what country should host the Olympics and thats by doing an presentation and the IOCs vote on it.

What worked?

I am proud of how I did my presentation. I think I used a lot of hand language and I also memorized the script and I made good eye contact to let the IOC understand better and concentrate on me better.

What did not work?

During the presentation I used few filler words and said, like and umm during the presentation. It also took me a lot of time to finish my script and it also had few grammar issues.  if I could go back and do this again I would choose to use less filler words and I would try to fix my grammar problems

Personal relevance

It is important because we will use it allot in the future like when doing an group work in college or in high school. it is also a experience on presentation making ppts.

science portfolio

What did I do

I played with Gravitrax and Indi car and did critical thinking

what did i learn

I learned about how to think criticaly and made allot of progress

what worked

I thinked criticaly when we tried to make the momentem of the ball

what did not work

I struggled to remember what the colors did when I tried the indi car

personal relevance

todays learning will help me in the future when I need to think criticaly

character Analysis

What did I do?

I read a book and wrote the character trait of the charcter I choose. The writing under is the first character Analysis I wrote in 6th grade

What did I learn?

I learned how to find out what traits character have. the strategy i used is that I wrote down all the way the character is acting and at the end of the book I will circle some character traits that she acts at the end of the book

What worked?
