Math Unit 3 Reflection

During this unit, we learned about percentages. We learned about how to calculate percent tax and tip in dining and shopping and interest in banks. We also learned about some formulas we have to use to find the answer. Some vocab we learned this unit include: Percent – A part/amount in a hundred. Simple interest – A way to find interest paid or earned from the original. Tax – Extra money you have to pay to the government when buying something. Tip – An optional gift of money you can reward your server if they did an exceptional job. I think I did good because by the end of the unit I was able to understand how to calculate tax and tip. I think I can do better by calculating the percentage faster and maybe in my head.

Math Unit 2 Reflection

learn- In unit 2 we learned about the scale factor. We learned how to find the scaled area/perimeter. Some formulas we learned were for these is basically the area or perimeter multiplied by the scale factor. You can find the scale factor by dividing the copy by the original. Some vocab we learned throughout this unit is Scaled copy, Area, Perimeter, Scale Factor. In this unit I was good at finding the scale factor and I was good at finding the scale area/perimeter once I learned the formula. Although, I think I can get better at finding scaled area of fractions/decimals. I can use this in real like like for example if I need to find the area ad perimeter if I’m going to buy a house to see if the price is worth it or I can check if a smaller painting or a bigger painting is worth it’s price. I will be able to remember this in the future because I wrote a little note to myself with the thing we learned with the formula, word written and I also drew examples.

Unit 1 Math Reflection

In this unit we learned about how to find the constant of proportionality using graphs and tables, and learning to recognize proportional relationships. Vocabulary we used in this unit include Constant of Proportionality, Unit Rate, Graph, Table, Proportional Relationship, Represent and Equivalent. I think I am good at showing my work on a table or on a graph. I want to work on getting better at finding the COP with decimals and whole numbers. We can use unit rate in real life when we are buying things like apples and there are 2 different vendors but they both sell at different prices, I can be able to find which stall is cheaper per apple/pound. Feedback I would give myself to remember is Graphs or tables can help me solve questions because these are the ways we used to show our work this unit.

Me as a Collaborator

Rating myself as a collaborator:

I think I deserve an exceeding because during turn and talks, group chats and doing my share of work during projects, I was able to share my ideas and add on to others and I was able to always finish my part of projects and encourage others to do theirs.

When we were placed in different groups I was still able to collaborate and explain my thoughts and ideas.

My table was quite responsible because when the notebooks were out somebody would just go up and put them back without being asked.

When asking to turn and talk I can listen to others and agree/disagree respectfully and keep a conversation.

I was good during group discussions because I would always try to get others to share their ideas and start the conversation.

During the Unit 2 dystopian story I was very cooperative and helped give ideas on how the storyline should go.

During the Unit 1 product branding me and my partner were both very focused and understanding of what to do and we were able to do the things we needed by discussing and not dismissing each other’s ideas.

Visual Presentation

During this presentation, our task was to use our research about a type of transportation/communication and present it in a creative way. I chose choose your own path book because I thought it would be a fun and immersive way to get people to learn about snowmobiles.

Something I did well was I wrote a full story with around 8 ways to end your journey. I think I was very descriptive while trying to describe the scenery to make it a better experience.

If we could do it again I would want to add more illustrations and make it more creative with more colors to stand out more.

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay

Some things we had to do to lead up to this were reading three articles, annotating them and writing all the info we found into a graphic organizer. We then turned all our information into 5 paragraphs like an introduction, pros and cons and who fixed the cons.

I think I did well by being able to successfully write an essay on how snowmobiles have affected society with positive and negative impacts and how they were fixed to adjust to society.

I do think I should learn more on how to organize my notes better and how to annotate better.

Dystopian Outline/CERER/Pitch Reflection

I’m proud of myself for having good projection and having good pacing while maintaining eye contact with my audience. I’m also proud of finding a good claim and evidence.

Some challenges I faced are just relying on my notecards too much. I feel like if I just practiced more I could do much better. I can also do better by choosing a reasoning that can better support my evidence.

I incorporated feedback I received from my peers by talking clearer and slower to not stutter over my words and explaining how my story is dystopian. In my CERER I was able to use the feedback I learned from the bots to use a correct MLA citation.

Some changes I would like to make are practicing more with my notecards because I felt like I looked at them more than I wanted and actually needed to.

I would tell myself to watch out for where commas are supposed to go in CER’s because you also have to put a comma before writing the quote.

A goal I want to try to achieve is getting an exceeding on my next summative.

Science Blind Box Reflection

In this unit for our final project I made a model of a animal cell to represent the organelles in our bodies. I also made a medical pamphlet about cystic fibrosis. I also wrote a CER to answer our essential question for my project: What happens to our bodies when we get sick? I put a link above so you can see my trifold. During this unit I learned about the cells, organs, organ systems in our bodies. We learned about how they work together and how each of them function to support us. We also made an edible model of a cell using jello and candy to show our learning. I think I did pretty good during quizzes because I felt like I really understood the material. I can also recite every organelle from memory. I think I can still work more on learning how they work together and how the circulatory system works because I’m not exactly sure about how blood flows.

Design Tech RC Cars Reflection

During this unit we learned how to build an RC car. We also learned how to use Onshape to make a tail fin for our car. I made my tailfin in the shape of vox from hazbin hotel because I thought it would be cool. As you see below, we had to measure how long and how far apart the holes had to be to fit on the RC car.

Design Tech Clock Reflection

In this we were each assigned a teacher and we made a clock for each of them. I got Ms. Cutter, the 6th grade science teacher. During this time we also had to make a design journal where we wrote down the skills we learned and our original designs. I’m happy with my clock because it laser-cut perfectly and my customer was very happy with the design. Even though my clock was successful, I think I can do better by adding more details next time.
