Math Unit 3: Proportionality and Percentages

This unit, we learned about percentages and how we can use them in real life. We also did a summative project in which we had 4 choices to represent percent change, I did dining which I had to choose two restaraunts and compare them, I chose to compare fries from mcdonals and burger king. Something that worked well for me this unit was being able to calculate the percent change easily using percent equations. A challenge for me this unit was to be able to use a double number line to find percent changes. To overcome this challenge, I did more practice problems specifically using double number lines.

SMART goals reflection

My goal was to improve my grades and behavior’s during class. Some challenges were to spend more time studying and listening to teacher feedback, I overcame this goal by sometimes staying after school to practice for tests or using the bots created by teachers to practice. Some accomplishments I made in the first semester were that I got a lot more exceedings which I was proud of. I got support from all my teachers and even my parents giving me more courage and confidence to put more effort into the work. My next step is to not change my goal but to practice even more for the upcoming tests including the MAP test.

Science unit 2 reflection

This unit we learned about the different cells and cell organelles. We also did numerous activities including the cell scavenger hunt, the cell model, and finally, the presentation at the end of the unit. This unit also consisted of numerous formatives, edible cell models, and learning from different songs!

Unit 1 ELA Media Project Summative

I chose my medium which is influencers because I thought it was really cool to record a video with my voice in it instead of typing anything. I think having choice is really good because it can help us become more creative which can help us reach the standards easier. I am proud of being prepared. I didn’t maintain a lot of eye contact with the audience which was a challenge. I would not change anything if I could redo the assignment. I would be even more prepared.

Me as a Collaborator

During this unit, even when I was put on a table with people I weren’t friends with, I still treated them with respect and worked well with them. I also followed the rotation in which who would get the notebooks, folders, etc, furthermore treating my classmates in a respectable manner. When I was tasked with doing a turn and talk with my elbow partner, I listened to them carefully and openly shared my own idea’s. When I was asked to contribute to class discussions, I didn’t always open up to share my idea’s even though I had a good one, making this area a good place for improvement. While working on the dystopian story with a partner, we successfully collaborated with no problems and finished the work. When I worked with my partner in the product brand in unit 1, I didn’t really talk to him but I still put a lot of effort in the work so I started working on bringing him into the conversation more.

Unit 2 Summatives reflection

This unit was about dystopian fiction and character analysis. The summatives were harder than the formatives for obvious reasons. I am proud of getting a exceeding for the evidence section since I practiced a lot in that area. Some challenges for me were practicing for determining whether a character is round, flat, static or dynamic. I took the feedback given seriously and ended up getting exceedings. If I could redo the summatives, I would practice even more to get even better grades. My advice I would give to myself is to always put effort and a good result will come.

For the dystopian story presentation, we were supposed to brainstorm a character who is both round and dynamic and make a dystopian story and then present it in front of the class. For the project, I got a exceeding demonstrating both good interaction with the audience and making a good dystopian story to share with the class. Some challenges for me were memorizing all of the round and dynamic traits and practicing my presenting skills in the days following up to the presentation. All in all, this project was a success and I enjoyed working on it.

Visual Presentation  

The task was to make a visual presentation for the transportation/communication technology that we chose. I chose to make a paper model because I did not want to do my work on a screen. One thing that I did well was the actual presentation in which I explained all the positive and negatives impacts, one thing that I need to work on for next time is to make my paper model look more realistic and showing more effort on it.

 Social Studies Unit 2: Essay 

Before writing the essay, I first had to fill out a graphic organizer to gather information for my essay. I also had to write the positive and negative impacts my transportation technology in order to use it in the essay.

One thing I did well in my essay are the reasonings because I connected it well with the claim and proved it using evidence from my research.

One thing I still need to learn to do is using better grammar when writing essays in order to get a better grade.

Health Portfolio’s

This unit we learned about the different types of peer pressure and how they can connect to the different types of drugs that target younger consumers. For our group, we were working on nicotine pouches and we wrote a scenario in which we had to make a desicion to either use a drug, or decline it in other words saving our health. Finally, we had to make a huge presentation for the entire class showing our work.

Math Unit 2 reflection-Proportionality and scale factors

Some of the concepts I learned during this unit is 1. to know whether two number sets are proportional or not 2. how to identify scaled copies based off of the scaled factor, the area, or the perimeter. Some of the parts I was proud of during this unit was getting full marks on almost every assessment that was taken especially for the part in which we needed to deal with scaled copies and factors. Some of the challenges for me this unit was to find proportional relationships properly using tables, fractions, or some other strategy which was taught during this unit. If I could redo this unit I would 100% spend more time working on identifying proportional relationships, I would also include myself in group works more and achieve EVEN BETTER grades in each test.
