PE Badminton Reflection

In this unit, I learned how to hit a better backhand and forehand serve. I also practiced forehand, backhand and smashing. One thing that was challenging was that every time I tried a smash, it always hits the net. However, I think that I did okay on receiving.

Unit 4 Dystopian Fiction Reflection

WHAT DID I LEARN ABOUT DYSTOPIAN FICTION?

I used to not know anything about Dystopian Fiction and what it is. However, from this unit I got to learn a lot about Dystopian Fiction. I also got to know the Dystopian Fiction Characteristics. They are Totalitarianism, Social Control, Conformity, Constant Surveillance, Dehumanization, Control of nature, and Illusion of Utopia.

HOW DOES DYSTOPIAN FICTION INVITE ME TO THANK REAL LIFE?

It makes me think how hard it must be hard to live in that society. It makes me thank the real society for the freedom.

I ENJOYED/ DID NOT ENJOY THE GIVER.

I did enjoy reading the book The Giver because it was exciting to read this book all the time and there were cliff hangers too. However, there were lots of parts that made me uncomfortable.

HOW HAVE I IMPROVED MY ABILITY TO WRITE A ACADEMIC PARAGRAPH?

Before this unit, I wasn’t that sure of the structure of a academic paragraph. However, after I learned the structure, I was able to write a good or okay paragraph.

HOW AM I BETTER NOW INTERACTING WITH OTHERS IN LITERATURE DISCUSSIONS?

I learned how to validate and paraphrase what my group mate said to make them feel included.

PE Soccer Reflection

In this unit, we learned how to dribble, shoot, pass, and defence better. Something that I did well was passing the ball to another teammate. However, something that didn’t work as well was shooting the ball into the goal and dribbling. This was because the ball didn’t move the way I thought it would. In the future I can use the skills I learned for soccer day. 🙂

Unit 2 Otzi Unit Portfolio Reflection

  1. What did I work on?
  1. During this unit, ‘Why should we care about the past?’, I worked on
  1. Making observations, inferences and wonderings
  1. Using photos and articles as evidence
  1. Writing a CER paragraph
  1. Asking and answering open and closed questions
  1. Taking part in the Otzi Mock Trial, my role was an Expert Witness
  1. What did I learn? Why should we care about the past?
  1. We should care about the past because
  • Origin of human and their culture
  • Learn how pre-historic people lived
  • Learn the differences and similarities between the past and us right now

↳ Same diseases

↳ Same conflict

  • Learn that Neolithic people were very resourceful, innovative, and skilled
  1. What worked well?
  1. I am proud of the following work, CER practice using picture, jury notes, and Open and Close ended questions.
  1. I am proud of the work above because I was able to learn how to find relevant claim, Evidence, and reasoning using pictures of Ötzi. I was also able to note what Expert Witnesses said during the Mock trial as a jury. I also learned the differences between open questions and closed questions, and how to figure them out.
  1. What did not work well?
  1. I found some of this work challenging, questioning about a photo, gathering Mock Trial Evidence in a Graphic Organizer and giving peer feedback.
  1. I found the work above challenging because I couldn’t really think of relevant questions related to the pictures. I also found the graphic organizer challenging because my reasoning was not enough. Giving peer feedback was challenging for me because I could not think of good feedback.
  1. Personal Relevance
  1. Collaboration and communications skills are important in my future because I have to work in a place where communications skills are important for me to be a better worker.
  1. This is a photo of my work about my CER paragraph

Unit 3 Math Bake Sale Reflection🎄 🍪

festive and colorful christmas cookies served on a plate

WHAT DID I DO?

In math, we did a bake stand where 2-3 people got into a group and baked pastries, then sold it with fake money. Me and my partner decided to make Christmas cookies. This bake sale took four days to prepare. In day 1 we listed our top three recipes, selected our bake goods, and wrote down the ingredients and the amount of how much we need. In day 2, we calculated the unit price for each ingredients and calculated the batch price. In day 3, we calculated the batch cost and the serving cost, and decided our selling cost. In day 4, we wrote a pitch. We also had several home works.

WHAT DID I LEARN?

In this unit I learned how to collaborate well with a partner. I also learned rates and unit rates, how to calculate them and the difference between them.

WHAT WORKED?

Something that worked well was the collaboration with my partner. We did well in dividing roles when needed. We also collaborated well when we were baking in my house we were really concentrated and focused when we were baking.

WHAT DID NOT WORK?

One thing that didn’t really work was when we forgot to add the ingredients for icing. Therefore we had much more ingredients to calculate and we had to add the ingredients and to do the math all again.

PERSONAL RELEVANCE

I do not think that this activity will help me when i grow up. However, maybe if I become an owner of a bakery it will probably help me a lot to calculate how much profit I can get.

L4 Swimming Snorkeling PE reflection

In this unit, we did snorkeling and we also swam freestyle, Backstroke and breaststroke. Something that worked was that I did snorkel pretty good but I can improve on where I put my head, 45 degrees. We also learned some hand language we can use while snorkeling.

Egg Car Reflection

WHAT DID I DO?

The constraints were to design and build a car with a safety system that will deliver an egg safely down a ramp.

WHAT DID I LEARN?

We see Newton’s 1st law in action with the egg car when the car bumps on the brick wall and wanting to keep going. This is because an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon another force. We see Newton’s 3rd law in action also when the car hits the brick wall and goes forward.

WHAT WORKED?

The wheels worked well because some others cars slid instead of rolling, but our car’s wheels perfectly rolled. For this, we had to make wheels that are not touching the board of the car which will stop the car from rolling.

WHAT DID NOT WORK?

Something that did not work was that at the end after it bumped on the brick walls, the egg fell out, so if the egg didn’t fall it would not have broken. Next time, if ever have a chance to fix it, I would make a seatbelt for the egg.

PERSONAL RELEVANCE

Now, after doing a experiment, I learned how important a seatbelt is. Since out teams egg fell out. I also learned how a crumple zone is also important because it can slow down a car before the passenger get hurt.

Balloon car Science Reflection

WHAT DID I DO?

WHAT DID I LEARN?

We learned the Newton’s first law of motion, Newton’s second law of motion, and Newton’s third law of motion. The Newton’s first law of motion is that when an object is moving it keeps on moving and when an object is not moving then it doesn’t move unless acted upon another force. We can find this motion when the balloon car doesn’t have force acting on it, it doesn’t move but if a let go and the air comes out, it stars to move. Newton’s second law of motion is the law of acceleration (F=ma), and we can find this when the balloon car starts to accelerate after letting to air out from it. Then, there is the Newton’s third law of motion and it states that for every action there must be an reaction. Finally we can find the third law when I let the air out which is the action the car will move forward which is the reaction.

WHAT WORKED?

I think that a that a thing that worked was collaborating with my partner. This is because we worked pretty well in making the balloon car that traveled in a pretty fast speed. I believe that we also collected the data in the correct way using a meter stick.

WHAT DID NOT WORK?

It was a struggle when we were building a car at first. For the first try, I tied the rubber band too tightly which made the straw bend and let the air out before we letted it go. To solve this problem, we tried our best to tie the rubber band perfectly that wasn’t too loose or too tight.

PERSONAL RELEVANCE

French Recording Reflection

Post a screenshot of the reading

Attach your recording. You can download it from Schoology.

Explain what is hard (or a bit hard) to you and why? Give an example.

It was kind of hard because there are a lot of silent letters like ‘Salut.’

Explain what you think is quite easy. Give an example.

Some words are just pronounced the same as english like piano

Explain how was your pronunciation the first days of school and how it’s now. Did you improve ?  How much?

My pronunciation was pretty bad before because I never learned it, however, after learning it I got much more better.

French Project Reflection

What was the task ? What you needed to do to be successful ?

The task was to make a powerpoint about a francophone country that we chose. Also, we had to include at least four items of my choice. To be successful we could only include french words in it.

What did you choose to research and why did you pick this country?

I chose Belgium for the presentation because it was a country that I didn’t really know before so I wanted to research about it.

Explain briefly what you mentioned in your project.

I mentioned some basic facts about Belgium. Also, I mentioned Belgium’s animals, a famous monument, money and a interesting fact.

What is the feedback the teacher gave you?

I sent a link so Ms. Inna couldn’t access it after I sent it again I didn’t get the comment.

What are you proud of? What are the areas of improvements?

I am proud of the images and some of the informations and how they match pretty well.
