Math Unit 3 Summary

  • U: What do you understand in this unit? I understand how to find out the total cost by using my knowledge of tips and taxes. Furthermore, I can find the percent change between two numbers.
  • N: What new information did you learn in this unit? How to calculate tip and tax(I thought it is: original cost X tip% X tax%)
  • I: What was interesting in this unit? There are so many ways you can use the percent change in.
  • T: What was tricky for you in this unit? Using percent change in real life examples(Tricky words that I don’t know)

L3 Critical Thinker – Unit 2: Cells and Human Body Systems Portfolio Reflection

  1. The essential question I chose was ‘What happens inside our bodies when we get sick. In this unit, I learned the function of 11 organelles in cells. Furthermore, I researched more about another organelle called the Centrioles. Learning about it helped me answer the question because I could find out what organelle is not working according to the symptoms. Also this helped me to understand that the body is a system made of subsystems. Before, I just knew that the organs are made of tissues that are made of cells. But now, I know how the cells work to support the function of the tissues and organs.
  2. Dissecting the pig lung and heart was the most impactful activity that we did. By doing that activity, I learned what actual organs look like. I also learned how they function. Furthermore, the VR project was memorable too. In that project, I had the chance to research a system that I am not familiar with. I learned some new facts about that system that I didn’t know, so it was amazing. I collaborated with my friend to focus and do our work efficiently, so we could finish quickly.
  3. If I could improve one aspect of my learning in this unit, I will work towards extension opportunities. In this unit, I didn’t get many exceedings. Sometimes, I didn’t get a 4 even though I could have gotten it.

Social Studies Unit 2: Visual Presentation

IMG_0357.MOV

After writing the essay, we started to make a visual presentation about the essay. I thought that I should make a plane, and a board with pictures of the Wright Brothers on it. I was good at presenting and explaining it to the parents, but I wasn’t that good at making the visual presentation. If I do something like this later, I will use my time more usefully.

Social Studies Unit 2: Essay

In Unit 2, I wrote an essay about the impacts of the invention of airplanes. I first gathered 3 articles about the topic. Then, I annotated them to see key ideas, and put information in the graphic organizer. Finally, I used the information collected to write an essay containing 5 paragraphs. I tried to use more professional vocabulary, and used my time wisly to research. But I should practice more on choosing the right article.

RC Unit DT

In this unit, I designed the racing car using 3d printing skills. I used the 3d app effitiently and printed out at least one gear. Also, I finished putting the car together quickly to have more time to design. However, I only printed one out, so if I do this again, I will print more things out.

DT Clock Unit

In this unit, I made a clock based on my client’s need. I learned new techniques in Inkscape to design a clock. I used materials llike acrylic and plywood. I finished the clock in time, and the quality was ok. However, I didn’t use that much materials, and I didn’t paint. If I do this project again, I will spend less time on designing and more time on making.

Math unit 3 Proportionality and Percentage Summary Sheet

U: What do you understand in this unit? I know how to find the total cost of the dish with tax and tip, and I know that 1% is 0.01, which is 1/100

N: What new information did you learn in this unit? I learned what a double number line and a tape diagram is.

I: What was interesting in this unit? Using percentage to find the total cost of a dish.

T: What was tricky for you in this unit? At first, I didn’t know that you don’t tax a tip.

Math Unit 2 Proportionality and Scale Drawings Reflection

  • U: What do you understand in this unit?
  • How to find the scale factor, and use them to find scale copies.
  • Original perimeter X scale factor = copy’s perimeter
  • Original area X scale factor squared = copy’s area
  • N: What new information did you learn in this unit?
  • The Constant Of Proportionality (aka COP)
  • I: What was interesting in this unit?
  • We used scale to make a copy of a shape.
  • T: What was tricky for you in this unit?
  • Nothing

Social Studies Unit 1: Media Presentation

The link to my presentation

  1. What are some pieces of feedback that you received and then incorporated into your work? The feedback said that I should add more connotation words. I looked back and read my newspaper, and found out that I had too less words with connotation, so I put more than 3 words in and changed some words into stronger words.
  2. Explain 1 thing that you are proud of from this unit.  I used my time wisely and completed all the work on time. I didn’t get distracted and focused on the work to finish it.
  3. Explain 1 thing that you want to keep working on. I think I should improve my grammar and use stronger words because I sometimes got grammar wrong and had to go back and fix it, which took a bit of time. Also, the newspaper I wrote didn’t look professional because I used some common words.
  4. In your own words, explain what Bias is. Bias means an opinion that one or many people have that is wrong, but they believe in it without any evidence. Bias is common in the media, including newspapers, websites, videos, etc.
  5.  Explain 1 positive outcome of people having the same perspective might be. When they have a positive perspective on something, it might be easier to make decisions.
  6. Explain 1 negative outcome of people having the same perspective might be.  When they have a negative perspective on someone, they might bully them.

Unit 1 – Proportional Relationships reflection

What do you understand in this unit? How to make an equation about two variables, turn that into a table or graph.

What new information did you learn in this unit? What COP is, and how to get COP.

What was interesting in this unit? Making equations and finding out what COP is.

What was tricky for you in this unit? Drawing a graph and labeling it correctly.
