I practiced serving, games, and I learned many different badminton skills in this Pe unit. I also learned many different skills, like doing a serve.
Wha did I learn?
I learned many types of serving, and haw to hit the ball better.
Wha worked?
What worked was I successfully learned hitting the ball, and serving.
Wha did not work?
I lost a few rounds, and I failed some serves
Personal relavance?
This unit helps people learn many important skills in critical thinking, badminton, overall sports, and sportsmanship. This unit is great for student like me
I learned about dystopian fiction by writing academic paragraphs and discussing topics collaboratively. Related to the book: the giver
What did I learn
We built vocab, wrote academic paragraphs, use transition words, collaborative disscusions.
What worked
What worked was I was able to write good paragraphs, get good grades on vocab. I was also able to do almost all of my homework assignments on time, and to my best effort. Finally, I could read the whole book before sceduele, and answer questions about it on Commonlit.
What did not work
What did not work was I did one or two of my homework Commonlits late. I also did not use transition words for every one of my Commonlits. Also, the magicschool bot did not help me a lot, and it wasnt my style of learning english vocab. It just told me to guess the answer, and I did not think it helped.
Personal relevance
This helps me learn vocab, and write paragraphs. This can help me write cers in social studies, and can help me in my future jobs and school. This will help me for the rest of middle school, and high school.
We started by completing an investigation to determine the relationship between potential energy and height. We also did a lab report, built the model, took data, and wrote conclusion with CER.
In this unit, we worked on a KWL on our knowledge of archaeology. We also worked on some things like a CER explaining our knowledge, and open and closed questions. At the end of the unit, we did an Otzi mock trial, trying to prove how he died. Each of us was given an important role, the reporters, the bailiff, the expert witnesses, and both the defense and prosecution lawyers. We had to prepare for this trial, which was voted on by the jury.
What did I learn?
In this unit, we learned about how to write CER’s and open and closed questions. We also learned a lot about Otzi the iceman, a 5300-year-old mummy found in the Otzal alps. We learned about his personal belongings, his lifestyle, his diet, and his health. It turns out he had over 10 different diseases that could have killed him, and 61 tattoos to relive pain.
What worked well?
What worked in this unit was that I was able to finish my trial with good grades, as seen below. This is good because these grades may be in my report card. I was also able to become a bailiff, which is one of the harder roles. This is good because there is only one bailiff. I also wrote an article by myself, which I am proud of because it is my first time. I was also able to work with the lawyers and interview them, which helped with my article
What did not work?
What did not work was that I had trouble doing my interviews with the prosecution team, and we did not work very well together. This harmed my article because I needed good evidence to have a strong article. Another thing that did not work very well was that I almost submitted my article late, which would have been an instant two.
Personal Relevance
This unit teaches kids to do many things, such as public speaking and debate. It is a fun and engaging unit that teaches kids lots about mummies, the past, and an overview of archaeology. This project will encourage me to learn more in the future and is a good chance for 6th graders to show themselves.
I worked on a fun project to make stuff and sell them to earn fake money, then we would count the money and profits to see how much money we make. We used our profits to buy the leftovers from our friends.
What did I learn?
I learned about marketing, math, and others. This challenge taught me that is is hard to make money, and not to waste it. I also learned math skills such as caculating profits, and finding cost per batch.
What worked?
What worjked was I was able to successfully make all my products, and sold out on them. I made over 300 dollars profit, even though we did not write all of it down.
What did not work?
What did not work was we did not print our project poster in time and it was marked late and we did not use it in our sale. Another thing that did not work was our item was expensive, and lots of people thought it was a scam.
Personal Relavance
This project is a fun and engaging end of unit test, it teaches math, but it also teaches how hard it is to make money and appriciate what they have.
I learned how to snorkel, and how to position myself to get ready for the big stride entrance. i also learned under water sign language and signals for snokkeling underwater.
what did i do
i worked on sign language, snorkeling, and swimming
what worked?
what worked was i was able to learn how to do the giant stride entrance and snorked using the sign lanuage we learned.
what did not work
what didnt work was i did not folow the stuff 100 percent and water got in my snorkel.
personal relavnce
i think this helps me learn about snorking and it is good
I worked with emma to make a cart using paper, wheels, and tape. We had limited materials and time.
What did I learn?
I learned that newtons 1st and 3rd laws can help car and passsengers saftey. We used airbag, seatbelt, and a crumple zone to protect mr egg. I also learned that it is important to secure the egg.
What worked?
What worked was I cuold callaborate with emma and build a cart that protected the egg. The egg did not crack. I also was able to use my tools and materials wisely and smart.
What did not work?
Even thought the egg did;nt crack, it stopped millimeters before the brick and did not meet all of the criterion. I also should have considered the size of the wheels because it kinda didnt fit
Personal relavance
I know now why we need seatbelts, air bags, and crumple zones. I think this acitvity is fun and educational. I think this activity should continue.
I worked on a ballon cart that had to move as far and fast as it could. I had only a few minuites to make it, so it was slietly hard. I had to use wheels and axle to make a cart with a plate base. It had be powered by a ballon.
What did I learn?
I learned that newtons second law applies to this, because it has more mass when you put the washers on, so it takes more force to move it. I also learned that if the cart is lighter, it is easier to move. That last thing I learned is that is the ballon has more air, the cart travels faster.
What worked?
What worked was I was able to build and decorate a cart powered by a ballon in a limited time. I was also able to work well with my partner and get into the finals in our ballon cart race. I also was able to get lots of extra time, so i made banners, and even got started on a flag
What did not work?
What didnt work was out cart wheels got kinda squished in the first races and in the last race out cart slowed down. I also rejected some of my partners ideas. something else that didnt work was I didn’t put the ballon and rubber band tight enough, so it kinda leaked and didn’t go as far.
Personal relevance
This connects to the real world because in real life, we also use cars. In real life, we have gas or electricity, which in this case is the equivalant of a ballon. the more washers we put, the harder it is to move and the more force is needed. same thing happenes in real life, when there are more passengers, or the car is carrying something big and heavy
Writing a fictional story based on a theme that matters to me.
What are we learning?
Theme (my purpose for writing this story, my message to readers)
Character Development (creating believable characters with positive & negative traits)
Plot (the sequence of events in my story; Western and Eastern approaches to storytelling)
Setting (the world that I create for my story)
What worked?
What worked was I was able to write a original creative story, and make sure i added lots of figurative elements. I am proud of my plot.
What didn’t work?
I didn’t finish my story because I spent to much time on the details. My quest barely started when I finished. I also didn’t get time to do final edits, so the grammar, spelling, and other details might be messy.
Personal relevance
I think creative writing is fun to do, and it is a way to express your thoughts. I also think that much like reading, writing is a fun way to pass time. I think this is fun, and could turn into a career.
