Badminton Reflection

In PE class we learned how to play badminton! We learned about how to make a backhand serve and and the dropshot close to the net. Also, we are adding on what we learned in 6th grade. We also learned about the different types of grips, such as the forehand grip and the backhand grip. What I did well is my forehand serves and saving balls in dropshots, so I can just run to the ball and smack, even though I am not good at smacking. What I still need to work on is my backhand serve over the net, because my backhand serve is way too low to hit it over the net. That way, I can hit it low and let my opponent run to the net, and then smack him.

Social Studies project reflection-Essay

For my SLC social studies reflection, I choose to do minecraft to show my visual presentation. Minecraft is a game where you can use blocks to build whatever you want to build. So for this reason, I decided to build my models in a minecraft world.

We learned about impact with Technology. We learned that any tech has both positive and negative impacts to both the society and governments. For example, I did the Chinese High-Speed railway. It’s positive impact includes easier travel and increase in tourism. Some negative impact includes loud noises through curves as well as high value-money to construct a line.

There are ways to solve this problem. For example, AI management for small problems. Moreover, new train models will make travel easier and faster. For example, this train I built in my minecraft world.

From what I still need to improve on, is probably find some more ways to fix main problems that has occured. In my report, I need to evaluate more on my negative impacts as well as ways to fix the present problems. My essay haven’t had a lot of the negative impacts suggested, so that is what I need to improve on.

What I did well in my essay is that I cited all of my sources, as well as showing all of the problems that mainly occured in the China railway group. Also, I used proper APA citations in my essay, which is good to cite.

Unit 3 Math-Percentages

In Unit 3 math, we learned about percentages and percent equations to help us solve problems. We also learned about percent markups and markdowns, as well as percent change.

Some key concepts includes calculating the taxes and tips. A real-life situation can include when we pay a tax, we can calculate the percent that we need to pay to the government for the tax. Another example includes things such as giving a tip to a waiter at a restaurant.

What I understand about unit 3 is that we have to calculate the percent change. We have to know the 3 percent equations, as well as calculating the percent change. ****

What I need to improve is using these equations without a calculator. All of the CFU’s that we took doesn’t allow a calculator. I need to practice more with my mental math so that I can get a better grade on the CFU. Also, I always mix up on what number I should divide on the percent change equations. We must divide the new value from the change to get the percent. I always get it mixed up to divide the old value.

In conclusion, the percent unit in 7th grade helps us in life a lot, as we must use percent change stuff and percent problems in the future, and also calculating the tax when we grow up to work.

Health Unit 3-Making healthy decisions

During the last unit of health, we learned about making good and healthy choices. For example, looking at if the packaging is healthy, or is it just vapes? Not only that, we made a DECIDE model. A DECIDE model is a way of six steps to help you analyze if something is healthy or not. By using a DECIDE model, you won’t get addicted to something like this:

This is a strawberry flavored vape. It tricks teens and kids to try this vape out, so that they will get addicted to vapes.

When I first learned about this, I just thought like just don’t vape and smoke. But then, now I understand that it’s far more deeper. Many things, such as peer pressure and those “addicting vapes”. These are all ways teenagers and kids will get addicted to illegal substances, which means that we need to learn about ways to smartly figure out if something is good for your body or not.

This is also relevant to unit 2, as it is also making healthy choices, but online influencer version with the CRAAP test. Health is a very important subject in grade 7, and all of the information we learn can go into our own life, as we can also use the DECIDE model to check.

PE soccer in unit 3

During the third unit of PE, I learned how to play soccer, as well as how to defend. I usually play defender or midfield in a soccer game. I learned how to dribble, to pass, to shoot. Practicing in PE class as well as soccer acadamy after school had made me grow better at my soccer skills, especially dribbling and shooting the ball. What I need to work on are my skills of shooting and dribbling the ball even more. That way, I can shoot goals in a real soccer game.

Unit 2 Math (Scale drawings) in class

In unit 2 of our math journey in 7th grade, we learned about scale factors and how to draw a scaled copy of a shape. We also learned all about how to use proportionality to draw shapes with a scale of a ratio.

Some things that didn’t really go well are my drawings and understanding of scale. One question on the summative test shows my misunderstanding on finding the SF for a pool in the question.

If I can redo unit 2, I would probably enhance my understanding on scale and scale factor. I got the scale factor part wrong in the summative. That means, I have to get more understanding between the difference of scale and scale factor for more complex questions.

Swimming in PE class

In swimming, we learned how to perform an artistic swimming routine. We learned how to float and how to do an oyster. In our routine, we also learned how to do a safe lift, where we lifted a kid into the air.

What went well includes how we performed our routine to present. Our presentation included a good entry into the water, swimming freestyle, circle formation and oysters, floats, as well as flips and two good lifts.

What we have to improve on includes taking our time during the routine and doing a few other cool moves. We should also improve our lifts when we are lifting.

Unit 2 reflection

I used to think that everything online is usually true if not, and I thought that those influencers are all credible. Sometimes, when I see those viral hacks, I thought they were true, and I wanted to try those life hacks that they had. I just look for websites that look reliable to use. Now, I regret everything I do.

But now I think that many websites are not reliable and sometimes even leads to even worse sicknesses. We learned how to use the CRAAP test and evaluate if influencers are good or bad. After evaluation, we realized that many websites were unreliable to look for information.

Some examples from this unit includes things such as our influencer analysis project. We chose an influencer to analyze, and we analyzed the influencer using the CRAAP test to see if the influencer is reliable or not. If now at anytime, if I am scrolling through Social Media, I will analyze it mentally with my CRAAP test evaluation.

This is our presentation used in our project. We analyze the influencer and realized that the influencer we are analyzing is credible. Our team analyzed Dr. Mike, a doctor and an influencer. After using the CRAAP test, we found that Dr. Mike is a credible influencer.

In conclusion, in this unit, my mind changed from thinking that most influencers are credible to being careful and analyzing with the CRAAP test.

These are our peer feedback form from 2 classmates. We read about it, and then we wrote a reflection.

Here is our artifacts from this project:

ELA unit 2 formative 2 (CERER-Dystopian Characteristics)

I am proud of my evidence selection. I got a 3 on my evidence part, because I provided relevant evidence to my claim. I made a lot of improvements since when I first started to write CER’s. Now, I can choose good evidences for a CER to write on.

Some challenges includes how I write my citation. I kind of didn’t understand how to do proper citation. I should use the proper citation bot to practice my MLA citation skills to make sure I get a 3 next time. I should not include the word “page” in my citation.

If I could redo, I would pay closer attention to the rubric, and I should probably take a closer look at my reasoning. The reasoning is the most important part of a CER, which means that the reasoning will give me the most grade. I would also read the directions more carefully, so I know exactly what to do next time, including proper MLA citation.

I will use the flint bot to enhance my reasoning writing skills in the CER. I would ask the flint bot to train me in writing my CER’s. I will go back to the MLA citation slides, which means that I get to write my citation. I would review a lot of the information on the slides.

I need to look forward to see if I can write better CER’s. By doing that, I will stay positive when I don’t get good grades. CER is a really important part of life.

Language Arts influencer and commercial analysis

  1. I think for explaining the influencer’s purpose, I explained it well and had shown and told the purpose, which is building trust with his followers. If I could have made it more clearer, I would have shown specific examples.
  2. I did not use as much explanation in this section, as I only used one example to show the specific language used to build trust. I could use more examples and specific languages next time.
  3. I did not explain well of connotations of words. In fact, I had to explain the denotation of a word, which is not required, as we need to explain the connotations instead of the denotations, which is not the literal definition.
  4. I did connect the connotations of words to the audience and explained how the audience would feel. I would explain and show more evidence next time if I could have done the formative again.
  5. I feel like I am more confident in the purpose section. The only reason being that it is easier to analyze by watching the video. The vocabulary is harder to analyze, because the word can have a lot more connotations and deeper meanings, which is hard to analyze.
  6. The biggest change that I would have to make is that I would explain more on both of the sections. The only reason I didn’t get good grades is because I did not explain throughly using evidence and reasonings for my claim and the purpose of the video I’m analyzing.
  7. It can affect how I analyze other medias and commercials in a later year, because from the things I have to improve on, I can get a better grade next time, which can help me get a better grade.
