I learned from dystopian fiction that the world that we live in has multiple problems, multiple flaws but there are also a lot of nice things. If you want to make a perfect world then you have to take away those nice things in life that we need to have as humans.
Dystopian fiction makes me think that our world isn’t perfect. There is war and pain all of these things. But in the same way we have wonderful things like color and love.
I enjoyed The Giver because in the book the world that Jonas lived in is perfect. If you think about it nothing is wrong, everyone is healthy and everyone is happy. But, it also showed me how to embrace the things that we have in this world that they don’t. It showed a lot of feelings and touched the reader. They author wrote the book really well by building suspense and feeling. She made the reader think about the world that we live in and what could change to make our world perfect while making us feel like the people in the book live in a messed up world. I also liked the ending of the story because it didn’t give use a real conclusion. The author made use decide how the book ends.
This improved my ability to write academic paragraphs in the homework by making us write more and showed us examples and some feedback to improve on.
