I did the thing with the link, now I am thing linked

Over the past few months, we have been working on the eagle apprenticeship tasks, which were a series of tasks designed to help refine our skills and develop each TTG category.
Creative Learner
The creative learner category of tasks helped me further develop real world skills such as 3D design and creative drawing. In one of the Creative Learner tasks, I 3D modeled, then printed a plane for my cousin who loves model planes. I first came up with a plan for the plane, then brought the concept to life after the modeling and printing process. It was quite a rewarding experience to see something I designed turned into a real, tangible object.
The second task I worked on was creating an alternate book cover design for The Three-Body Problem, which is one of my favorite science fiction stories. I’ve never been good at art, and I felt this was a good opportunity to develop one of my weaker skills. I took inspiration from some of the original book covers, and was able to come up with something completely new based on my interpretation of the book.
Both tasks pushed me to think outside the box and refined skills that can be important in the real word.
Critical Thinker
The critical thinker category forced me to analyze and break down information from different perspectives. The first task, analyzing logical fallacies in advertisements, had me comparing information between 2 sources to spot logical fallacies in advertisements. I had to look past the surface level of the ad and scrutinize how the messaging could’ve been manipulating emotions or distorting facts. Identifying fallacies like false cause, ad hominem, or bandwagon in real-world advertisements helped develop my critical thinking skills, and may help me in the future when watching an ad.
The second task, writing a short story using only a limited number of unique words (wordplay task), forced me to be creative under specific constraints. This task both developed my critical thinking and creative learner TTG’s. The task forced me to think critically about word choice, and how to convey a coherent story with limited words.
Resilience
HEY I DIDNT FINISH BUT I PRIMISE I WILL~!!!!

I made an adapted cover of one of my favorite book series
yay.

Today we learned about CAD and what it is used for in our daily lives. I made a coin of Joseph Stalin and a big duck. yay.

Today in learning lab we participated in an effective collaborator task. We used our critical thinking, effective collaborator, skillful creator, and creative learner skills to help us complete this task.
Critical thinker:
The puzzle required critical thinking skills to determine which part of the image our piece was.
Effective collaborator:
We required effective collaborator skills to communicate with other students to locate which part of the image we had
Creative Learner:
We used our creative learner skills to approach the puzzle in different ways, experimenting with various ideas to find the correct fit for each piece
Skillful Communicator:
We utilized skillful communicator skills by clearly explaining our thoughts and suggestions, making it easier for everyone to understand our perspectives and work together
Resilience:
We faced some challenges, but didn’t give up
The goal I picked to pursue was using AI for inspiration and help, but add my own ideas and style to make my work unique. This means I will make sure to use AI only as a tool, not a replacement for my own work. I will achieve my goal by adding custom instructions to AI models I use to remind myself to stay on track. By using AI only as a tool to assist me, I will be able to enjoy the benefits of using AI without losing originality or my own creativity.

During learning lab earlier this week, we learnt about how to be good digital citizens.
Our group acted out a skit about being respectful online. Through these skits, we learned that when using online information or posting things online, we should use reliable sources and double check information, be polite, keep your passwords safe, and make sure to think before posting something.

The skills we learned today are important to conducting ethical research, using library databases, and making sure we cite instead of plagiarize. These skills will be important for writing, researching, and more in the next 4 years.

High school is going to come with a lot of changes and be a stressful year for us. High school comes with new freedoms and opportunities, but also new responsibilities. There are new clubs and other interests that we can pursue this year, and I’m both excited and nervous. As soon as the school year started, we had so many clubs and new opportunities thrown at us to a point where it felt overwhelming. I wish I knew how many new things we would have access to before starting high school so I could’ve prepared myself. It would have been nice if I had thought over the summer about what I wanted to do this year, and which opportunities I actually wanted to pursue.
Now that we’re in high school, we’ll need to relearn everything we knew about how school worked. We had been through 3 years of middle school and we knew everything about it.
A few good friends of mine left last year, and while I’m sad that they’re gone, there are so many new people in high school who I’m excited to meet.
I’m pretty excited for whats to come this year, and hope to have a 4.0 GPA :).
Also ducks are cool 🦆
As of right now, we are trying to learn how to post using portfolios.
