Apprenticeship Activities Reflection😮‍💨

Creative Learner

Task 6: Plan a School Event

Planning a school event really gave me an opportunity to think creatively, trying to think of school events that are both valuable and realistic. Firstly, I realized that planning a school event isn’t as simple as considering what’s fun for the students, but also trying to incorporate valuable lessons into the activities. And that, really challenged me and my friend to think creatively. Planning a school event as part of my apprenticeship has significantly enhanced my creative learning skills. This task required me to brainstorm innovative ideas, collaborate with friends, and design a unique experience that resonates with the school community. I learned to think outside the box, considering various themes, activities, and logistics. The process of problem-solving and adapting my plans based on feedback encouraged flexibility and imaginative thinking. Additionally, engaging with diverse perspectives helped me refine my ideas, fostering an environment of collaboration and creativity. In the end I came up with an event where different learning lab classes compete against other classes in teamwork activities such as building something, sports, or projects. Overall, this experience has deepened my understanding of the importance of creativity in effective learning and teamwork.

Critical Thinker

Task 5: Dissect a Magic Trick or Illusion

When I dissected the magic trick, I realized how much it connects to critical thinking. At first, I was confused by the illusion, but as I really focused on the small details, I started to see some clues. It made me realize that the trick relies heavily on the perspective you see the trick from. I had to pay close attention to the details, like the slight misdirections and timing, which were important to the trick’s success. It made me think about how critical thinking often involves questioning assumptions and not just accepting things as it is. I learned to look for what I might normally overlook. The whole process also reminded me of how important logic is. I had to follow a series of steps to figure out how the trick worked, constantly doubting my thoughts as I gathered more information. It was like testing a hypothesis or considering different possibilities and then making my conclusions. It was a cool exercise in learning how to break things down and really think through problems.

Resilient

Task 1 Practice a New Skill

Practicing a new skill, and that skill being basketball, during my apprenticeship in learning lab has been significant in making me more resilience and enhancing my creative learning. Initially, I faced challenges and setbacks, which tested my determination, as I’ve not previously played basketball. However, each obstacle became an opportunity to improve and adapt my approach. For instance, when learning a new technique, I often encountered difficulties that required me to think creatively about solutions, and sometimes look for solutions online. This process of trial and error taught me the value of persistence in the face of difficulty. As I continued to practice, I discovered that resilience not only helped me overcome challenges but also gave me new ideas and perspectives. I began to see failures as stepping stones rather than setbacks, which encouraged me to experiment further. Embracing this mindset allowed me to explore unique methods and approaches, ultimately enhancing my creativity. Through resilience, I learned that the journey of mastering a skill is just as valuable as the skill itself, enriching my overall learning experience.

Skillful Communicator

Task 1: Interview

Through the tasks I’ve done in the Skillful Communicator TTG, I found one task especially the interview task. In this task, I interviewed one of my friends, asking them about their experience with the apprenticeship tasks during Learning Lab. And during the interview, I had to come up with questions that would give myself an insight to some one’s perspective. After the interview, I was able to gain valuable information that enhanced my knowledge on the topic. This task allowed me to practice with being a skillful communicator as I had to frequently ask follow-up questions, trying to gain more information. As well, I believe being a skillful communicator is very important for an individual as you ask, answer, and trade opinions with others. Effective communication fosters trust and understanding, which are essential for personal and professional relationships, allowing me to get to know more people.

Effective Collaborator

Task 4: Build a Bridge

Building a bridge with my friend Koki was an excellent way for me to enhance my collaboration skills. This task required teamwork, as we needed to coordinate our efforts to achieve a common goal. Effective communication with my friend was crucial. discussing ideas, plans, and challenges helped me improve my ability to express my thoughts clearly and listen actively to Koki’s input. We faced obstacles that required us to collaborate on problem-solving, allowing us to brainstorm solutions together. Additionally, dividing tasks based on our strengths taught me how to use individual skills for the benefit of the team. The process of giving and receiving feedback helped me learn to accept constructive feedback and adapt my approach accordingly. If disagreements arose, I practiced resolving conflicts amicably, which is a vital aspect of effective collaboration. Completing the bridge together fostered a sense of accomplishment and reinforced the importance of working collaboratively. Overall, this experience significantly enhanced my ability to work effectively with others in various situations.

Resilient – Practice a new skill

Task 1 – 60 points

Over the past week, Koki and I have been practicing a new sport, basketball. Starting with the bare basics, Koki, especially, have become a lethal 3 point shooter, while I have also become better at dribbling. This task allowed us to reflect on how our work over the past week have translated into visual progress.

Resilience

Task number 6 – mindfulness eating (15 points)

The last week I’ve been eating especially healthy and I feel like its really been having an effect on not only my physical conditions but also my mental health. I’ve always been told that it’s important to eat vegetables, but I never really realized that they really are that important. Last week, I’ve ate 3 salad bowls and I’m really proud of that. I also ate green pasta which made me feel healthier, thanks.

Effective Collaborator

Task number 9 (60 points)

This year, in 2025, I’ve experienced a pretty sad event and that motivated me to start working out and become stronger than ever. New year new me. 😤

Generative AI (GenAI) Reflection🤖

My goal when using AI is to be able to double-check and confirm important information with another trusted and reliable source that comes from legitimate sources. By being able to do this, I would be able to publish and post reliable and correct information even when incoorperating AI into my work. As well, I would be able to remind others to double-check important information from AI before incoorperating AI into their work. Three things I will do in the next month to help me reach this goal are: Try to identify important information; Know when information seems off; And be able to find reliable information without using AI.

Take Aways from the Skits/EUA

Today, each group has acted out a skit which each contain a take away teaching us to become a more ethical and global citizen. One take away I really found important was being considerate of the values and beliefs of others. Being in an international school, we have people coming from all across the world, therefore, people have different cultural beliefs and values. We should be sensitive about this, and be considerate about how your words may not appear offensive to you, but to others.

The Chamber of Etiquette

The chamber of etiquette influenced my behaviour in the library. Seeing certain posts on the wall or desks with different colors allows me to be notified of how to act and behave in certain areas. It allows me to make more informed choices in the library and I feel like I really learned how to behave from the Chamber of Etiquette.
