Rollercoaster L4 lab and model

What we did:

First, we worked in groups to build roller coasters, testing how starting height affects success rate. Next, we created a script for our video explaining the project. We collected data from the tests, then used that information to write a CER paragraph (stating our claim, supporting it with evidence, and explaining our reasoning).

Unit II – Ötzi Unit Reflection

What did we work on?

We worked on writing CER paragraphs, C is claim, E is evidence, R is reasoning. We also learned about open and closed questions. Open questions are questions that cannot be answered in just 1 word. And a closed question is a question that’s answer that is only 1 word.

What did I learn?

We learned about why we should care about the past. We should care about the past because we can learn about how people from the past connect with us. We also learned about a 5300-year-old man called Ötzi. He was found on snowy mountains, that is why he was preserved so well. Finaly, we learned about what to do in a mock trial.

What worked well?

One thing that worked well was that I learned about Ötzi the iceman. And I performed well on the Ötzi mock trial. Also, I worked well with my partner in answering a lot of the questions that the lawyers asked us.

What did not work?

I could have answered more questions on the mock trial. And I did not make a lot of eye contact. Next time I could answer more questions, speak louder, and make eye contact.

Personal Relevance

I want to learn more about how Ötzi died and where he was from. I still have a lot of questions that have not been answered. Writing CER’s could help me when I am doing other things, it will make me stronger at using CER’s. Participating in mock trials will probably also help me when I grow up and need to use it.

Swimming Unit

What did I learn?

I learned how to snorkel, and improved on my backstroke, freestyle, and breaststroke, and breathing calming inside the snorkel. Also the sign language.

What did I improve on?

I improved on all of my swim strokes and on being calm in difficult times. I also improved on witch way I should swim and be competitive and working in a team.

What can I do better?

I can do better on swimming faster and the snorkling entery.

Egg car reflection

What did I do?

Recently, our class built “egg cars”—DIY vehicles made to protect a raw egg from cracking, using materials paper, and tape. We tested them by rolling them down ramps, holding our breath to see how the eggs would hold up. We could only use 3 pieces of paper. and 1 meter of tape.

What did I learn?

In this lesson, we explored Newton’s first and second laws, with Newton’s first law called the law of inertia. Stating that an object in motion tends to remain in motion, and this rule is why seat belts were designed: to make the effects of inertia less and keep passengers safe during sudden stops.

What worked?

Our cart was a huge success, and it didn’t crack at all.

What did not work?

Me and our partner did not have enough tape at first, but then we fixed it by using other peices of tape in other parts.

Personal relevence

I was able to know how to build a safe car due to Newton’s laws.

Science critical thinking

What did I do?

I used my critical thinking skills to complete challenges to with Indi robots that were sensitive to color. We also built rollercoasters for marbles using a game called Gravitrax.

What did I learn?

I learned about how I would be graded for Critical Thinking skills. I learnt that critical thinking is the skill to solve problems and connecting different points of a problem to the entire whole. This helps us make good decisions.

What worked?

I was able to work with my friends to make the tower. It was fun and with the robot we could complete challenges! It was really fun and engaging and I learned a lot about critical thinking too.

What didn’t work?

It was hard to make, and we made 2 layers. Also, in the middle, the tower broke:(

Personal Revelance
I learned to collaborate with people I did not really know. We all enjoyed the activities and there were no conflicts.

Unit 2 force

What did I do?

We made balloon carts to test Newton’s third law, Newton’s third law is the law of action reaction, it stated that every law has an equal and opposite reaction. When the balloon was filled with air and then released again, the cart goes forward.

What did I learn?

I learned all the three laws, the first law is the law of inertia, an object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon another force. Newton’s second law is the law of Acceleration, the law of Acceleration is an object that has more mass will take up more force to pick up. Newton’s third law is the law of action reaction, it stated that every law has an equal and opposite reaction.

What worked?

Our cart rolled way farther than we expected, once we got it going, it glided across the ground for a long time before The balloon we attached was also great, we could blow it up full, then let the air rush out when we wanted to release the cart and let it move.

What did not work?

Our team’s cart was really good, we prepared it well and it ran really good. But it veered sideways halfway through the race, and that’s why we didn’t win.:(

Creative Writing Reflection

What are we doing?

Writing a fictional story based on a theme that matters to me.

What are we learning?

Theme (my purpose for writing this story, my message to readers)Character Development (creating believable characters with positive & negative traits)Plot (the sequence of events in my story; Western and Eastern approaches to storytelling)Setting (the world that I create for my story)

What’s Working:

I really liked writing the story, I’m proud of my characters, and I feel like I wrote pretty much. I got the idea of my story my story by reading Amina’s voice, that’s why my story is really like it.

Areas for Growth:
I feel like I could have written even more than that if I had the time. My least part of the story is the ending, because I did not have that much time to finish it and i’t really rushed.

PE Volleyball unit reflection🏐

Bend you legs down, right hand in a fist, and bump the ball.

to make sure the ball doesn’t fly away, i make sure the ball lands on my rist.

I don’t think serving was really hard because I knew how to serve before. But sometimes the ball flies away.

I can practice it more and become better by practicing more and focusing more on the teachers important tips.

Strike and Field Reflection

What did I learn?

I learned how to throw a ball and how to catch. Also how to kick the ball and run in big base.

What worked?

I learned how to throw and catch better, and also how to play big base.
