我觉得自己写作做得最好。写作能让我把心里的想法完整记录下来，我也喜欢慢慢组织语言、细致描写，静下心来就能顺利完成作文，所以在这方面比较得心应手。

2、哪些方面你觉得在明年的中文学习中还需要继续提高？为什么？

我觉得自己的阅读能力还有很大的提升空间。平时遇到很长、内容偏复杂的文章，或是里面出现不少陌生字词时，我不仅阅读速度会变慢，还容易理解偏差，没法快速梳理清楚文章要告诉我们的信息、找准中心思想和关键细节。我觉得想要学好中文，阅读是很重要的，所以接下来我会着重加强这方面的练习。

3、你认为对你来说比较有效的中文学习方法是什么？

我觉得对我来说，最有效的中文学习方法是多读课外短文，并且在日常生活中主动用中文简单交流。经常阅读能帮我积累更多词语和句子，不断丰富知识。大胆开口说话可以培养语感，让我的表达更自然。只要长期坚持这样做，我的中文水平就会有很明显的进步。

4、根据你今年的经验，请给明年七年级/八年级学习Advanced Mid level的同学一些好的建议。

结合这一年的学习经历，我想给大家提几个建议。上课一定要认真听讲，及时记下陌生的字词和重点内容。平时多朗读课文、阅读小故事，慢慢培养语感。不要害怕说错，试着主动用中文和别人交流。另外也要坚持练习写作，一点一滴积累，大家的中文一定会越来越好。

5、为了保持对中文的学习热忱以及为新学期做好准备，请列出你暑假会做的关于中文学习的三件事。

为了保持学习兴趣，也为新学期打好基础，暑假我计划做三件事。第一，每天阅读有趣的中文小故事，积累新知识。第二，时常听中文音频和对话，锻炼听力。第三，每周写几篇简短日记，练习写作。坚持做这些，就能一直保持学习状态。

Throughout this unit, my group and I produced a film about the Great Smog of London. A deadly smog that covered the whole city, impacting people’s health and daily living conditions. It also help the world make new environmental policies and legislation, prevently the same problem from occurring again. Shinwoo, Cherie and I worked together really well, we split the work evenly. Shoutout to Shinwoo, she made a lot of edits to our writing and it looks so professional. I also learned that teamwork is the key to succeed this unit because even if you’re that smart, if you don’t work together, you won’t be able to finish the film in limited amount of time. furthermore two opinions, two ideas will always be better than one opinion and one idea. Therefore, being a effective collaborator is important during this unit.

Summary

At the start of the unit, as we begin to choose our topic. None of us know what to do. Searching topics up then we chose a interesting topic that none of us knew about so that it would be a surprise when we learn about it. Then, we each start researching about the information, using different articles with different information and filling out a research organizer. After that, we use the information to write a CER format writing. My paragraph was about how the great smog had a significant impact on societal issues including the increase of crime, transportation and daily living conditions. At last, we start producing our film. We first record ourselves reading our script then putting it all together, putting music and including images we found. We make sure it’s all in sinc, make sure there’s no errors before we submit and show the teacher. There was also peer review and comments from the teacher to make our film better. Film making took a long time but after seeing the film, there was a sense of satisfaction.

One thing I did well

I feel like I did well by collaborating with my peers, communicating to them nicely about where we can add things and if they have any ideas on how I can improve. Especially because I’m not close with Shinwoo and Cherie, after making the film with them, I also gave effective feedbacks and helped them where they need. Furthermore I think I did well on writing the CER even though Shinwoo helped me edit it a lot making it look very professional.

One thing I can improve

I can improve on contributing to the film production more because I felt very exhausted about how technology is acting and also when I can’t find any images that can be in sinc to the words I’m saying. After I saw Shinwoo do it, I realized that it doesn’t have to be perfect. So, Shinwoo and Cherie did most of the work during the film making but I of course still contributed by making some edits and helping out with other things. I’m also afraid that what I put into the film, my peers won’t like it so some details I didn’t put into the film.

It’s been such a memorable experience at this years world classroom. I had so much fun with my friends, laughters all around the campsite. Thanks to the teachers who organized this trip, they made it fun and safe. My favorite activity was the stand up paddle board (SUP), splashes of water made it so enjoyable. Gossips were also a big part that made it fun.

I was really excited for this part. We did stand up paddle boarding. Although the water wasn’t as clean, we still got a pleasant time by the water. Walking into this room, we see algae blooms that we learned in science class. Finding it sort of gross. After getting somewhat in the middle of the lake, my friends and I jumped into the water at the same time while Ms. Ari films us. Throughout all the activities, this one is my favorite.

Chinese food isn’t my favorite but this meal was my favorite. The food was quite delicious, just saying it was better than the buffet we have everyday. I remember it was right after biking in the rain. The biking was okay, quite funny when the people in front of me keeps complaining about the rain.

Lastly, I will always remember my experience during world classroom, every detail, every laughter. In this trip, we persevere through challenges, work with our peers, create laughter and not disappointment. I learned lots of new skills, tried new activities and that to be grateful for what I have.

What are you proud of?

I’m proud of being able to present my findings in front of everyone without notecards, in the time limit of 4.30 min and 5.00 min. I presented about the Apartheid of South Africa. Presentation has always been my worst fear, In the past, I get really nervous standing in front of just a few people. After my presentation, I was really happy seeing my grade. I got a exceeding for presenting and a meeting for answering question.

What were some challenges for you?

I found answering questions during my presentation challenging. I got stuck on that one question: what were some myths or misunderstandings that occur after the event? I just stood there, panicking but at the end, I managed to pull out a answer. I also found the formative really awkward, I felt nervous when the teacher came close so I got a approaching.

How effectively did you use feedback (both from peers and teachers)?

I basically just received it and just be noted where I have to improve. At last I still managed to reach the expectations written on the rubric. The feedback I received was from the formative, it was mainly because I need to sound more confidence and use hand gestures. Finally, I remember to do these things during the summative.

If you could redo the summative again what changes would you make?

I would use more hand gestures and maybe try not to voice crack. When I was presenting, I mind was like reading the script so I barely used hand gestures. Also seeing the audience right in front of me, I get really nervous so I get voice cracks. Furthermore, I would be more prepared on my questions, that way I won’t get stuck and have awkward silences. Lastly, I will manage my time better because I submitted my sources papers one week late.

What advice would you give yourself for future presentations (next year and beyond)?

1. Be more confident so that presenting will be easier

3. be well prepared

Throughout this unit, we learned about the 4 matter cycles which includes the Hydrologic Cycle, Carbon Oxygen Cycle, Nitrogen Cycle and the Phosphorus Cycle. Also, how energy transfers from one organism to the other known as the food chain. Furthermore, our essential question of this unit is what’s making pleasant pond turn green? The Hydrologic Cycle also known as the water cycle include precipitation, evaporation, condensation etc. Photosynthesis is an important role in the process of energy transfer. Photosynthesis is where plants get there energy, then the whole energy transfer begins.

My prediction after adding the fertilizer is that the plant would grow. It didn’t happen and instead it died.

After this unit, I would try to improve on managing my time better and not having late submissions. For example, during class time I like to socialize with my friends while doing work. But, know that I keep submitting late, I would try to focus more on my work/assignments then chatting with my friends. I could also review more information taught in class since I’m a slow learner so that I can not always retest on a L2 quiz.

How did mathematical thinking was used in the activities?

Throughout this unit, we explored how mathematical thinking can be applied in activities like weave silk, photo hunt, folding paper and trace, construction line drawings, and digital tessellations. While folding paper, we learned about symmetry. There are different symmetries for example, bisymmetry, radial symmetry, bilateral symmetry and many more. Construction Line Drawings, we used rulers and compasses to create precise geometric shapes, focusing on how different parts relate to each other and learning how geometry as a form of math could become a artwork that can be made into a tessellation. Finally, while making digital tessellations, I created patterns that fit together without gaps. These activities helped me discover that math could be in art too and not just with numbers.

What are your thoughts and opinions about the connections between Art and Math?

I feel like art and math could be connected. Like, how artists use geometric shapes, patterns and symmetry to create unique designs. In my opinion, math helps in understanding proportions and perspectives, which makes art look more unique.

What did you used to think about viral health claims and influencers?

I knew that some were false claims and some are trustworthy and reliable to get tips for things. I used to determine false and true informations by asking my parents, teachers or like if a video is overly exaggerated, I could probably know that it is not true. I used to think that influencers make content to help others but now knowing that social media is not really safe and some content creators just make unrealistic and surprising videos just to gain followers. After this unit, I know that I could search online to check. Also, clicking on to their profile.

How did you analyse what you were seeing online?

In this unit, we learned to use the CRAAP test to analyse videos, to determine if the video is reliable or not. CRAAP stands for Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose. Applying the CRAAP test is valuable for evaluating informations credibility. Clicking on the content creators profile, there are informations about the creator and we can just see if they have any degree.

Describe what you learned throughout this unit about health media literacy?

Throughout this unit, I learned to apply the CRAAP test when assessing health information found on social media platforms. Knowing that not all information are reliable and it could be dangerous. Analysing when the health information was last updated, who’s sharing the information and what their qualifications are, research online, and why is this health information being shared.

What helped you most to become more health media literate?

The questions provided in Ms. Dani’s room. Because it’s quite challenging to remember all the ways to apply CRAAP. Also getting clarifications from Ms. Dani. But overall this unit was not as challenging, its alright.

Socratic Seminar Summative Assessment

My peers and I discussed on our book club books: The Only Road by Alexandra Diaz. We discussed on the book cover, how the characters migrating to another country can be really tough, comparing this story with real life situations/other books we all read before. The main characters in this book is Jaime and Angela. They are migrating from Guatamala to the United States to seek safety from the Alphas (Local gang) and find Jaime’s older brother Tomas. This story talks about the challenges they are facing during this migration.

What am I proud of?

I was really surprised that I got a exceeding on Socratic Seminar. I would consider myself as a quite person during class but with my friends I would be really talkative. Even the Ms. Devin didn’t think I would do so well (Not saying this in a bad way). At first we had several practice and formatives on doing a socratic seminar. I was really confused on what the teacher meant by engaging with other people’s idea. But later, reviewing at home, using flint to ask questions helped a lot. I was able to understand the meaning of being engaged in a socratic seminar. It means to first think and reflect on what the other person said, showing that you are listening. Then, to build on/add on to other people’s ideas. This shows my growth between formatives and summatives, so I think having formatives can really help me learn and be better. I was also able to use non-verbal communication and maintain eye contact with my peers, showing that I was listenning and to express agreement. A comment I have during the summative was that the 7 minutes limit of time to do this socratic seminar flew by quickly.

What can I improve on?

I can definitely improve many things. During the first formatives, I felt really awkward so does my peers. There was this huge silence in the middle of our socratic seminar, nobody said anything. At that point of time, my mind was panicking. I was thinking, I’m cooked what are some questions I can ask. My mind went blank so I asked a really dumb question just to break the silence. I also didn’t engage with what other people are saying because I didn’t know how. I just agreed and add on with my idea. This was what Ms. Devin didn’t want to see happening. I know these problems because of watching other people socratic seminar and seeing whats the difference between my socratic seminar and theirs. In addition to that I also reflected on Ms. Devin’s comment and using flint for clarification and practice. In future assignments like this, I would think about how to make this Socratic Seminar fly by faster, meaning making it engaging like a normal coversation about one topic also relating, connecting ideas for example comparing something about the book and real life situations or like other books I read before, at the same time be sure that your peers read the book as well.

CER Summative Assessment

We did our CER writing on a book called Refugee written by Alan Gratz. We only read the pages the teacher provided us with. This chapter was talking about a boy named Josef living in Germany, getting attack by the Nazis. Josef’s family was forced to leave Germany. Our CER was based on how the historical setting shaped the event. I wrote: The story Refugee by Alan Gratz takes place when Adolf Hitler and the Nazis took control of Germany, This is when the Nazi’s destroyed Jewish homes and the Nazi’s were influenced by believing that Jewish people were dangerous and responsible for the problem’s Germany have after World War 1. This historical setting likely shapes the story by making Josef and his family forced to leave Germany and the fear to stay.

What am I proud of?

I’m really astonished that I got exceeding for my claim and evidence. I’m really proud of myself for this summative assessment. Although my overall score is meeting. During semester one CER writing assessments, My reasoning was always a approaching and I didn’t know how to fix this problem. My claim and evidence was always meeting which I thought was okay but I can aim for exceeding. Seeing the grade I got for this CER assessment, I’m really proud. I know that I have studied how to make my writing better. I used Flint to help me and give me some clarifications on how I can develop a good CER writing. Looking back at the results, I have know that this strategy works.

What can I improve on?

Although I made good achievements, I can still improve further more on my reasoning. Expanding on how the evidence clearly supports the claim. I can do that by providing real life situations and human actions to prove that my claim is supported by the evidence. I remember that Ms. Devin also had suggested that to improve on reasoning, I could read more books. I consider myself as a really slow reader, because of that I don’t really want to read. It takes me forever to finish a book. For example, I read the book Misfits in one month and I gave up when I was almost about to finish. The next step I would take to improve on my CER writing is reading more books and practice writing more CERs’. Thinking about how to explain why and how the evidence supports the claim. Overall I think I did good.

What did we do?

The purpose of this unit is to practice our independence and self time management skills. While learning new mathematical skills: Algebra & Geometry. We had to copy notes from presentations Ms. Ari and Ms. Jiang provided us. This process helps me learn new skills and understand new concepts, so I would say this part was really helpful for my mastery ticket. Mastery ticket is kind of a test to see if we mastered the skill. Then we move on to the next skill. We have limited time to finish these things, therefore time management is really important.

What am I proud of?

I’m proud of being able to learn new skills and apply formulas for different equations/problems. I learned new ways of calculating Algebra and Geometry. Determining the answer through real life word problems would or can be something I’m proud of. Putting effort into copying notes and practicing hand muscles for eighth grade.

What can I improve on?

I can improve on managing my time better because when most of my classmates finished those lessons, I’m still behind. Resulting I have to use my lunch time to make up for those lessons, to catch up with others. Although I really didn’t want to do math during my break time, I had to. If I managed my time better I would’ve have more time to socialize and hangout with my friends. I can also work on mastering/understanding the ways to calculate problems so that I can work more efficiently.
