I learned about dystopian fiction by writing a academic paragraphs and discussion topics collaboratively.
What did I learn?
I leaned how to build vocabulary, write academic paragraphs, use transition words and discussion groups.
What worked:
I am proud that I am successfully done with the book giver and write the paragraphs about summary of the book. I am also well in the commonlit post when I got one all correct.
What did not work?
Sometimes that I need to remember the word I learned better because even though I used magic school, I still keep on the meaning of my word and that made me pretty confused on the vocabulary tests. It is also hard because I keep on forgetting to write my commonlit.
personal relevance.
It could help when we were in life and we could find more answers for question in life. I could also help when we were trying to know something, it would be easier to know what it means.
In beginning, we were writing a lab report about our rollercoaster project, and we was investigating the relationship between the potential energy and height. We also built a model of rollercoaster to test the relationship and we were using a marble to replace the rollercoaster cart and using tubes to replace the rollercoaster. The data shows out that the higher the starting point is, the higher the success rate is and the data shows out that only when it is at the highest point, the rollercoaster can success and on the other starting point, the rollercoaster never get to success.
We were at the start doing some observation, inference and wondering about Otzi’s body and all about him. We then done a CER paragraph writing about Otzi and whether he was murdered or not. At last, we were doing a mock trial about Otzi, and we were asking open and closed questions for the expert witness to answer.
What did we learn?
Firstly, we learned why we should learn about the past and why we should care about the past. Secondly, we were getting information about Otzi in this topic and that how and why Otzi died. Lastly, we were also learning the importance of learning of the past and why could the past effects our life that much and we are able to learn about most of the place Otzi died.
What worked well?
Firstly, in the mock trial, we were able to make the Jurys believe that Otzi was not murdered and I am very proud of that. Additionally, I am proud that I learnt very big amount of knowledge about Otzi the iceman and the different possibility for Otzi’s death. Finally, I am proud that I was able to know how important the pass is and why we should learn about the pass.
What did not work well?
In the mock trial about Otzi, I can get better information and evidence of why Otzi died because of the cold weather. Furthermore, I think that I can get better information about how Otzi could die with his personal items and I could also add some information about the weight of the backpack he was wearing. Beside this, I could also have shown the evidence I haven’t have shown about Otzi died because of the cold weather.
Personal relevance:
I had a chance to practice my communication skills and also my teamwork skills. I was able to practice my communication skills in the mock trial and talking out the evidence and my collaboration skills are shown out when finding evidence, the prep time. This can help about my confidence of myself and it could also help me later on.
What did we do: We made a table that sold cupcake and we were needed to sell it and get the price of it.
What did we learn: We learnt how to calculate the price and the unit price and also the profit and what should we choose for the material. We also learnt the choice of the materials and how to calculate the different type of price.’
What worked: our cupcake was all sold out and everything was sold and also we were able to get lots of money from the customer. We was also able to leave money to buy other food.
What did not work: We did not get a good profit and our profit is -127 and that shows that we did not get any money of that thing and we was losing 127 both that the money we spent is kind of not that good.
Personal relevance: This can make us have better experience and get a better price and get more money and this can also help if I want to make a shop on my own.
We were making a car that contains a egg that should not be smashed and can still let the egg and the car stay together. This is our egg car:
What did I learn:
I learnt the different newtons law that shows out on the car such as newtons 3rd law and newtons 1st law. The newtons 3rd law states that or every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The newtons 1st law states that an object at rest will stay at rest, and an object in motion will stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction, unless acted upon by an unbalanced external force.
What worked:
We added a longer crumple zoned and we also give enough space for the egg to survive. We also putted a seatbelt for the egg to not let it fly out of the car because it is against the rule.
What did not work:
Our egg in the car was having some little cracked on its surface and the egg yolk was flowing out of the egg a bit. The problem we have is that the wheel was making the egg have lots of friction and then the egg cracked because the wheel. This is our video:IMG_0252.mov
Personal relevance:
Most of the car has the airbag to protect the human inside not to break. It also will have the seat to give less energy pushing the human back and hit the front of the car and it could give a very good protect. On our cars, we should add something like that but we have no more space for it so we chose not to make it and we failed at last.
The balloon car was built with some wheels, some hot glue, tape and a balloon. We used this to learn about force and newtons laws. We found out lots of different things like what straws and what mass matters about how far it will travel.
What did I learn?
I learned about newtons law, the newtons first law is an object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion will stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction, unless acted upon by an unbalanced external force and we saw this law in action is shown with the balloon car because when the balloon car is moving, it will not stop unless the air in the balloon goes out. Newtons second law says that the larger the mass of an object is, the larger mass of force you will need to accelerate it and it is shown on the balloon car because when the balloon car has more washers on it, it will go slower and slower. Newtons 3rd law states that every action has an equal, opposite reaction and it is shown because when the balloon release air in one side, the other side goes forward.
What worked?
At start, our balloon car worked and it was going very quick because there were not much mass on the balloon cart but when there was washers on it, it turns out to be slower and slower until it can’t move anymore. We had to take washers out because then, the balloon needs less amount of force to move forward. The balloon turned up to be changed because it can’t go that quick anymore and we changed the balloon because the first balloon is already having a bigger amount of capacity and the balloon can’t go that quick anymore.
What did not work?
The balloon turned up to explode and that made us use the third balloon and that did not matter that much but it still wasted lots of time to fix. It was struggling when we were choosing the straw for the balloon and the wheel and when we use the thick one for the wheel, it turned out to be slower and that can show how important it is for choosing the size for different places.
Personal relevance
The balloon car is like the motorcycle or the bicycle in real world because it all need a lot of energy and the same as the balloon needs a lot of air. I see newtons second law in real life because when we are pushing lighter things, we need less mass and when we push heavier things, we will be needed to use more force to accelerate it. It is important to know the newtons law because it helps me to know why you need more force to push heavier things, why you will get bumped back when you bumped something and things like these things.
The art work that I am most proud of is my final project. My final project is about the sport culture and I was making a baseball made out of plaster. It is my proudest project because I use the most time doing it and I was already pretty skilled in doing some plaster, and I was also having some problems on the second lesson and it is that I drawn the pattern wrong and I have to use another layer of paint to cover it and I have to draw the pattern again. I learnt that never give up because there is a better percentage of success than giving up with 0percent success. This is why I chose my plaster baseball as my final project and my most proud work.
Writing a fictional story based on a theme that matters to me.
What are we learning?
Theme which is about courage and brave.
Character Development, in my story, my main character main character traits is that he is hopeless at first and brave at last.
Plot, I was starting with my main character wanting to jump of the rooftop but then into finding a friend and at last the bullies gets what they make other people get.
Setting, my main setting in my story is in school and in the classroom and the toilets.
My book cover:
What’s Working:
What story elements did you enjoy planning and writing?I enjoyed when I was thinking and reading my story because I felt happy because I finished my work.
What elements of my story are you proud of? The setting and the ending because it can show why you need courage and why you need to be brave.
How did you get the idea for your story? I was thinking about bully because it is easy to show character traits for the story.
The Best Line from My Story: My best line of my story is when the start because it easily tells you how easy someone can change there mind.
Areas for Growth:
What story elements were challenging to plan and write? It is because it is really hard to think of it.
How did you deal with these challenges? I would take more time thinking and try my best.
What is your least favorite part of the story? Why does it bother you? I don’t have a part that I really hate.
Personal relevance:
How can creative writing help you in real life? It can help us in real life in two parts, if you are planning to be an author, it could help your brain to have more imagination and write better books. If you are not being a author, this could still give you different possibility of different problems because of your creativity.
Do you enjoy creative writing? I don’t enjoy creative writing that much like other people and it is not that fun to me but it is a very good try to me. If I must be a writer when I am older, I would write about non-frictional book.
