You back up but you don't give up

Health Unit 3: Reflection

What I learned:

During this unit, I learned about many components that create a healthy relationship. For example, asking for consent when you’re doing something with your partner is crucial to avoid having arguments. When they aren’t answering, it means no and forcing them to do so is a violation of consent. In addition, I also learned that there are multiple types of boundary setting. This includes physical, emotional, sexual, material, time, and relationships. Each of them are important to have a healthy relationship. Lastly, I learned that phrases like “Act like a lady”, or “Be a man”, are stereotypes of what a gender should act and extremely very harmful.

Physical Education Reflection: Unit 2

Swimming:

This unit for swimming, we reviewed how to swim, egg beating, and learned the rules and how to play Water Polo. I improved on my swimming skills as I haven’t swam for a year. In addition, I also improved on my egg beating skills.

Outdoor Invasion Games:

We played many sports during the outdoor invasion games unit, but we were most focused on Soccer. During soccer, we reviewed how to dribble, shoot, and pass the ball. I improved on my dribbling skills and shooting skills.

Health: Unit 2 Reflection

During Unit 2, we learned about different mental health problems, the stigmas people have about them, their causes, and how they impact daily life. I used to think that mental health was just about being calm. I also thought that everyone with a mental health issue acted in very obvious ways. For example, I thought that kids with anxiety were always scared and couldn’t join in, while kids with depression never wanted to play outside, and those with ADHD were always too hyper.

However, after looking at different examples of mental health, I learned that these ideas aren’t true for most people. Many individuals with these problems might look fine on the outside but are struggling inside. I found out that symptoms can be different, and some people deal with their issues quietly over time. I also learned that there are many treatments if you are struggling with mental health. For example, if you have eating disorders, you can go to cognitive behavioral therapy to recognize and change their eating behaviors.

French Unit 2: L3 Listening Comprehension Reflection

For this listening comprehension task, we had 5 different listening topics with 4-5 small questions within them. We had to listen for keywords to understand what it was talking about and to answer the questions. Feedback I got for this assignment was that I have good comprehension, however, I can improve by reviewing the vocabulary set on quizlet.

French Reflection: La Guerre des Jumeaux

During the first unit of French, we read a short story on twins not getting along and how they are really different. The story concluded with them getting along by working together to find their dog that got lost. We had a quizlet set with all the vocabulary we needed to succeed on the test. I memorized most of the words by going over the set multiple times and completing the “test” in quizlet. For the test to check our understanding of the story, we had to summarize the story by looking at the pictures from the book. In addition, we couldn’t write a script. At the beginning, I practiced by myself and spoke to myself, however, I checked with a friend to see if it had any errors and if it was enough. Using enough vocabulary from the quizlet set was the most challenging because I didn’t know when to include when I was speaking. I did well on explaining the story with a long summary, however, I can improve by adding more vocabulary and past tense when it is needed.

Science Unit 1 Reflection

What I Learned:

During this unit in Science, I learned about various things, one of them is how a meteoroid can transform to a meteorite. A meteoroid is a rock from space that becomes a meteor when it enters Earth’s atmosphere and burns up. If part of the meteoroid survives and lands on Earth, it is called a meteorite.

What I Can Add:

I can add more details to show the forces involved into Earth’s gravity pulling the meteor towards the planets surface. For example, I can use arrows. In addition, I can add the zoom in thing to show the texture of a rock.

Social Studies Unit 1 Reflection

What I learned:

I learned how to create an inquiry question that interests me. It is important for this question to be neither too broad nor too specific, so I have enough resources for my research. Additionally, I learned how to effectively research to answer my inquiry question.

What I Would Do if I Had More Time:

I plan to include more pictures to help visualize my work. Additionally, by making my paragraphs shorter, I aim to make it easier for the audience to understand the topic quickly without spending too much time reading.

Health: Unit 2 WOOP Goal

For my WOOP goal assignment, I tested the TickTick app to reduce stress through better organization. My goal was to complete work a few days before due dates instead of waiting until the last minute. My main obstacles were social media distractions and being too lazy to make plans. I chose TickTick because it creates todo lists to help users stay organized.”

3 Measurable outcomes that I hope to see:

  1. Be more productive and making a planner
  2. Be more organized
  3. Get less stress

To measure my goal, I used a mood scale to track my stress levels during the testing period. I rated my daily stress on a scale of 1-10, especially when working on assignments and approaching deadlines. The mood scale showed that completing work early, like finishing my math homework 2 days ahead, made me feel much less stressed than my usual last-minute habit. This measurement helped me see that the app was actually working to reduce my stress about schoolwork.

Functionality

TickTick’s main feature is its todo list system, which worked really well for managing my homework. The app makes it easy to add assignments, set due dates, and organize tasks clearly. The best part was checking off completed work – it gives you a satisfying visual confirmation when you finish something. The app’s organization made task management simple, with clear differences between completed and incomplete tasks, so I could quickly see my progress. Adding new assignments or changing existing ones was fast and didn’t cause any confusion.

Usefulness

The app helped me reach my WOOP goal of reducing stress through better organization and finishing work early. The clearest proof was when I finished my math homework 2 days before it was due – much better than my usual last-minute habit. This happened because the app broke down my workload into smaller, visible pieces, which made everything feel less overwhelming and stopped me from putting things off. Checking off completed tasks felt good and motivated me to keep using the planning system, which solved my problem of being ‘too lazy to make a plan’ by making planning feel rewarding instead of annoying.

Design

TickTick has a clean and simple design that makes it easy to use. The app uses clear colors and symbols to show which tasks are done and which ones still need to be completed. The layout is organized and not cluttered, so you can find what you need quickly without getting confused. When you check off a task, there’s a clear visual change that feels satisfying and shows your progress. The app loads quickly and doesn’t have annoying ads or distracting features that would pull you away from your work, which actually helped with my obstacle of getting distracted by social media since the app kept me focused on my tasks. The minimalistic design also serves a business purpose – TickTick keeps the free version simple to encourage users to upgrade to premium for theme customization, which is how they make money.
