Apprenticeship Activities Reflection

Creativity

There was a time when I struggled with self-doubt while working on a creative assignment. I vividly remember receiving constructive feedback that challenged my initial approach. Although it was difficult to hear at first, I decided to take the critique seriously and view it as an opportunity for growth. This led me to refine my T-shirt design, which drew inspiration from the Opium Drip style. Despite earning only 15 points and receiving no votes for that design (which I can now laugh about), I did not let it discourage me.

Instead, I channeled my creativity into a musical piece, collaborating with my classmate Jing Xi to create a powerful wake-up call. This partnership not only earned us 60 points each but also reignited my passion for creative expression.

Through these experiences, I reflected on the importance of being in a supportive environment conducive to creativity. I realized that creativity often flows naturally when we allow ourselves to explore ideas freely and without judgment. It’s crucial to keep an open mind, embrace feedback, and continue evolving our creations. This iterative process not only enhances our work but also deepens our understanding of the creative journey itself.

Critical Thinking

One of the most challenging tasks I faced during an apprenticeship project was the lack of a clear solution to a complex problem. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I approached the issue methodically by breaking it into smaller, manageable parts. I conducted thorough research on each aspect and considered multiple perspectives to ensure a well-rounded understanding.

This analytical approach helped me identify the best course of action based on the evidence available. My experiences with paper crosswords, Sudoku puzzles, and partnering with Jing Xi to play word games further honed my critical thinking skills, enabling us to earn numerous points, including 15 and 30 points in various challenges.

Through breaking down complex issues and reflecting on my findings, I learned the significance of being thorough in my analysis. This attention to detail and comprehensive understanding empowers me to tackle challenges more effectively and make informed decisions.

Communication

In a recent discussion with my partner, Jing Xi, I had the opportunity to practice active listening. I focused intently on their feedback regarding my work, making a conscious effort to absorb their words fully. By asking clarifying questions, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of their suggestions and implement them effectively in our project.

We worked together to get into a creative flow, taking turns contributing ideas, and ultimately collaborated to create a catchy makeup song. This experience not only improved the quality of our project but also strengthened my relationship with Jing Xi.

Active listening taught me that communication is as much about understanding others as it is about expressing my own thoughts and ideas. It’s a two-way street that fosters collaboration and builds trust, ultimately leading to more successful outcomes in group settings.

Resilience

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to help others during the PTC (Parent-Teacher Conference). Assisting my peers and providing support during challenging moments taught me the importance of resilience and the value of helping one another. I learned that perseverance is essential—no matter how daunting a task may seem, hard work towards my goals is crucial for success.

This realization has driven me to maintain a positive attitude and keep pushing forward, even when faced with obstacles. My commitment to helping others has not only reinforced my resilience but has also created a supportive community where we can all thrive.

Collaboration

I collaborated, with Jing Xi, and worked on the voting protocal, these 2 events allowed to understand better about working with other pople. 2 Main skills I developed, connecting with me peers by openly communicating. I need to be brave about talking to other people in order to succeed. The second thing I picked up is that the other individual that I work with is a human too, meaning I need to be mindfull of them and evaluate there ideas.

These activites allowed to gain a further understanding about how humans work, and keeping a positive attitude, good communication and pushing myself forward and others in a way that dosen’t make others feel uncomfortable.

Very Cool Amazing Title

I was lucky enough for guidance, when I joined MUN in 6th grade a made a bunch of High School friends. I wish everybody told me to relax and not worry. I wish the teachers actually prepared me for what’s going on. The first year was absolutely useless, I was treated like a child when I thought I was going to be given more rights and freedom. It was not until 7th and 8th grade. That I was ready to go to class and be happy, because the teachers were happy to be there and I was happy. There were something that about teachers teaching me about life that I enjoyed. I think could have done a better job teaching us the circular too especially 8th grade to prepare us better.

For the TTG

I’m familiar with the TTG, I’m somebody who’s not afraid to convey my ideas and so not so worried. I’m a great learner. One thing, is that I’m not that organized but that’s just like a personal thing.

I’m looking forward to being able to do everything: new friends, new activities, new teachers. I’m also scared about GPA, studies and teachers.

And the end of the day everything goes hand in hand.

I imagine a space outside of PAC, where there is black screens, covering half of the area. Where drums are set in the back, and I’m in the front and we have 2 microphones for each other. There are 2 seats for both of us, it’s very chill we have a poster and a setlist, which is very nice. We have a week and it we hurry I think we will be able to complete our orginal and go beyond, which is what I am pushing for. I hope to share a setlist and a live perfomance with everybody with covers and orginal, to have fun and share music withe everybody. Were on a good track pushing for more

Feather and Rock

Feathers

Feathers, after the beginning phase, we definately crafted a song very fast which is very nice. I hope the lyrics will be as easy.

Rocks

It was difficult at first to come together and be creative, I think we had to understand each other a bit and talk a bit. At first we struggled but we pulled through, there was also a limit where we can’t play becuase of band class, other than that I’m worried about the time constraint but I think we can pull through

Welcome to Your New Portfolio!

Why have a digital portfolio at SAS?

Creating a portfolio, or blog is a great way to collect all the work you’ve done throughout your academic career. You can include academic, athletic, and personal artifacts or experiences that you want to share with a wider audience. This is a great way to organize all your learning in one place and you can take it with you when you leave SAS.  When you make your portfolio, you create posts that are categorized according to your subject. Some categories have already been set up for you, but if you need more categories you can add them as needed. It’s important that your posts have the following:

  • An engaging title – this should not include the name of the subject since this is referenced in the category. Think of this as the first opportunity to engage and hook your reader!
  • Body – this is where you share your learning. This should include a combination of text and media in the form of images, graphics, and embedded videos. You should always consider how your post looks to your audience. Is it engaging and organized? Do they want to keep reading?
  • Category – select one that has been set for you or add a new category. Posts can have more than one category e.g. Humanities and Myself as a Learner
  • Tags – create tags that can be used as keywords to describe your post. Tags help organize your post a little more! Aim to have 3-5 tags for each post. For example, if you are posting about a novel you wrote, you might want the following tags: #Fiction, #MurderMystery, #Theme, #PlotDiagram
