Designing a Story Reflection

My story was about how a girl called Nancy Noodle was working at a restaurant, but because she was off-tasking during her work time, her payment got lowered, and she was very angry. A week after her payment got lowered, she quit her job, and in a short time period, she spent all her money on food and $2 on a lottery ticket. Lucky for her, she won and earned 500!!!!!!

I am really proud about how and Bobo came up with this awesome story 😎 because I think we made it really fun and entertaining by adding exclamation marks in an attempt to show emotions (even though this isn’t ELA).

I think the hardest part was analyzing the graph and answering each question one by one since it took a lot of time (even though there were 2 of us). I think the hardest question was the last one about “which form of the equation (slope-intercept form and/or point-slope form) is most effective in modelling the problem?” since I didn’t really understand it at first, but after my friend explained it I understood.

I would have added more to the answer for the question of “which form of the equation (slope-intercept form and/or point-slope form) is most effective in modelling the problem?” since, like I said, I didn’t really understand it) but also because I wasn’t really sure which one to choose. It was also done a little bit last second because I wasn’t there on the first day.

It helps us better understand by letting us come up with a real-world example to help us learn. So now we know an example or more (because we saw some examples) about how piecewise functions is related to real-world situations

Mixed Media Reflection

  • Audience Insight: What key message do you want your audience to understand about you as they view your artwork? How did you communicate this message? I want them to understand what I like and what I value. I made headphones to show that I like listening to music, and I put a dragon to show that I like dragons and I am the Chinese dragon zodiac. I also tried to create the number 77 in the background to show that it is my favorite number and it is what my number is for volleyball. I also created a starfish to show what I am like (unique), and it is my favorite animal.
  • Risk and Experimentation: During the creation of your artwork, how did you take risks and experiment in order to effectively express your intended message? I experimented with how to create the dragon, since I have never drawn a dragon ever, and I thought it was going to be easy, but it wasn’t. I tried to draw it out and layer paper on top of it, but that didn’t work, so I tried to print a photo out and layer paper on top of that instead, which did work, and it turned out pretty good. πŸ™‚

Kool Koor Workshop Reflection

For this art workshop, we were doing automatic writing, which is drawing or doodling without thinking about what to draw and then choosing two repeated elements or shapes from the artwork. Then we took out the big canvases and started drawing lines. We used different colors, different sized brushes, and different techniques to have thinner and thicker lines. Lastly, we got posca markers to add on the elements we chose from earlier into the artwork to fill up the white or blank space.

Something that I did well on was automatic writing because the drawings you make are random and not vert detailed. Also, it was really fun just randomly drawing things onto the paper. Something that was challenging was incorporating the elements we chose from our artwork because I chose some pretty random elements and at first I didn’t know how to combine them to create a new shape or how to add it into the drawing to fill up space.

His art aesthetics was influenced partly by the 1970s and 80s Bronx graffiti art. At that time Bronx art featured vibrant colors. expression, rebellion, and community identity. Kool Koor used vibrant colors as a background, layering darker or less bold colors on top to emphasize the contrast. He also uses artistic expression by repeatedly using his tentacle-shaped element on previous and recent artworks.

I think when he switches environments (from street to studio) he feels less stressed because he was more time to practice or prepare what he is going to draw on the streets. However, before, he had to think about it in his head. When he arrived at the place he wants to graffit, he has to start immediately because it was illegal. Additionally, working in a studio, he has more materials around him so he can decide which was to use in his artworks and he doesn’t have to paint on the streets anymore. Due to the fact that he has a studio, he doesn’t have to paint or do art on the streets. This influences his art style because he was first inspired by his surroundings originally when he first decided to do street art. So, I believe that now that he has switched spaces, it would also shape his art style. Additionally, graffiti scenes fostered connections among artists, forming collabortation, support, and competing in a vibrant, dynamic environments. As Kool Koor’s surroundings change, he gets to explore different types of art and foster connections with the artist, possibly leading to collaboration or support.

My culture has influenced me to have this love for dragons. Due to many Chinese artwork and traditions including the dragon. These symbols show my culture amd my identity because growing up my house was often decorated with dragon-related furniture or decoration. Also, I am Chinses so I grew up with watching movies, child shows, and listening to Chinese fables about dragons as a symbol of luck.

Semester 1 Active Learner Reflection

My current goal is to turn in all my assignments on time. I am most proud of my L3 anatomical and embryological graph organizer because I improved on writing and finding evidence and reasoning for each station. The biggest challenge so far has been staying focused because sometimes my tablemates can be distracting. I want to improve on participation because I don’t really like talking in front of the class.

Unit 1 Reflection and Goal Setting

I chose Question 6 as evidence of my best thinking because during the pre-assessment I didn’t even know what complementary angles are. On Question 6, I’ve shown how to find pairs of angles through like alternate interior angles, vertical angles, and alternate exterior angles.

I chose Question 1 as evidence of my best thinking because during the pre-assessment I didn’t know what rigid motion is and what a vertex is. However, as shown on Question 1, I demonstrate that I understand reflection and translation, which is an example of rigid motion. So this proves how much I have improve throughout the unit.

Throughout this unit, I improved the most at rigid transformations.

I feel that I still need to work on writing and finding the corresponding angles.

List three of your strengths so far this year.

– learn quickly

-positivity

-understood everything

List three things you want to improve on in the next unit.

-remembering the formula for slope

-learning new things

-keeping a positive attituide

Unit 1: 1st Contact

During this unit, I learned about different parts of speech and how to teach them to an alien that doesn’t know any English. At the beginning, the alien was still speaking in its own language, but as I slowly taught it English, it started to speak English instead. During this simulation, I learned a lot about my alien. My alien is from

Impact of Exhibition

Essential Question:Β In what ways can an exhibition influence the ideas, beliefs, and experiences of an audience?

An exhibition can provide people with more information or knowledge about the artist’s life (for example, their life, what materials they used, their culture, how their culture influenced them, and how their art was distinctive from others). It can also shape or change one’s perspective by influencing their audiences to believe what the artist believed through art expression. For example in the photo below, a possible goal of El Anatsui is to show the audience thay anything can become art. Additionally, his artwork the wall can show that the art isn’t just trash, instead it has a deeper meaning related to his culture. This can show that exhibitions teach people about new information about an artist by showing how the bottles was related to El Anatsui’s culture. The bottles was related because they were used to trade people from his home and his interest from this history, influenced him to create “The Wall.”

Another point is when people go to an exhibition, they can see one artwork in more angles and see how they shift. For example, “The World” was created so it changes when one shifts the angle they are looking from. However, if people just stay at home and looks at the pictures they can’t compare the different angles. Also, people observe how El Anatsui layered each part so it would create the illusion that they were stacked together and creates an Earth when the audience is directly in front of it. This shows how going to an exhibition can provide more of an experience then just looking up photos online.

Unit 1:Table Tennis

I have learned how to serve by throwing the ball in table tennis, which taught me the value of skill and accuracy. A good serve influences the entire match, and I have realised that having control of this aspect enhances my overall control of the ball.

Working on “hitting the ball” has been fun. I have tried different strokes and angles which has helped improve my timing and aim. One area I still need to work on is my stance. I have a hard time getting into the right position within the short time frame, and that shortens my chances of returning the ball efficiently.

Taking everything in, this journey has underscored the importance of practice and the ability to adjust. As I move forward, I’m eager to build upon serving and stance techniques.

Art Sketchbook Cover Reflection

This sketchbook cover can show how my mood is. For example, how sometimes I am sad and sometimes I am cheerful. The person in the middle shows how art is like the magic orb she is holding. Art is like magic for me; it helps me relieve stress, and it is something that I enjoy. The person standing on a cliff shows how even if I am feeling negative, art is still like magic. The star and its trail just show how my feelings are split into two. I also mostly used some cool colors for the colorful side to show how I’m usually very chill about things.

I used patterns for the grey side to make a clearer contrast with the colorful side and also just to fill up the white space. I mostly used some cool colors for the colorful side to fit with the grey and white because using warm colors would be a bit too bright. I tried to make the human in the middle as 3D as possible to contrast with the rest of the 2D art. I also tried to create a border with light colors around her to try to let the viewers focus on her instead of the background.

I met the standards of the criteria for meeting because I have reflected and connected my art to my identity, like how this artwork is related to my emotions (which are a really important part of me) and what art is like to me. My cover also has a full composition that used design strategies (like the use of color, contrast, lines, and form), and I tried to fill up the whole space by adding color to the background.

Reflection for Art

A unit that I learned a lot about was the tessellation unit, where we learned how to make tessellations. We also researched a tessellation (that I saw later on in Spain). I learned why Islamic people don’t draw portraits of people: because they thought that only God was worthy of drawing.

During this semester, some challenges for me were deciding what SDG to do for the last unit. I mostly wanted to do life on land or water, and because I did life in water last year, I chose to do life on land.

This was a replication of a famous artwork. This was done with Caroline and Ivy.

This is my tessellation project; it was really fun to make. I call this β€œMy Amazing Artwork.”

This is my “artivist” piece. I chose life on land for the SDG project.

This is my nameplate that I really enjoy. making and I love it.
