Do what you think is important

The project we did is about Kevin De Bruyne’s relationship with Caroline Lijnen. The main purpose of this project is to see what is an unhealthy relationship or what an unhealthy relationships include. And the main conclusion we got from this analysis is that this is an unhealthy relationship and Caroline Lijnen cheated on Kevin De Bruyne.
The few most important ideas I learned from this unit is it had helped me rethink about what is considered as abusive action. and what is considered as a healthy relationship. I also understood what is considered as flirting and sexual harassment and how the same actions people do can be considered as different actions. I also learned how people needs consent and sets boundaries because they are not comfortable with it.

This unit, we learned how to play water polo and practice basic swimming strokes. We practiced dribbling, passing and playing full water polo games. We also practiced swim strokes such as breaststroke and head up freestyle. This unit was very fun and rewarding because water polo is a great sport and practicing swim strokes is always very important. And in soccer we learned how to pass and dribble, and I really enjoyed playing it because I was scoring goals.
I used to think negatively about mental health, it always get tied to horror, irregular, scary and thoughts like that because of movies. For example, in “Terminator 2″, the character had PTSD from event. And in the movie, it framed it as the evil boss, the bad guys. And this stigmatizes mental health patients in to creepy evil characters.

Terminator 2 frames PTSD as soldiers and negatively.
But now I think that mental health patients isn’t nothing different than normal people. They never wanted it, it just came with it based on biology and environment. One surprising fact I learned is mental health issues effects the person in all areas. For example, physical pain, social isolation or weight loss and etc. And my perspective had also changed, I became more understanding and feel emphatic for the mental health patient. Because in our presentation, it stated that the misconception about PTSD (our topic) is really great. I would now treat mental health patients just like normal people because they aren’t much different.

I want to be more positive and more actively participate and contribute in class. I will do that by answering questions more often in class time
and be more energetic and put more positive attitudes so I wouldn’t affect my classmates. And I’ve been bring in a more positive attitude and it had affect my classmates positively.
One thing I am proud of in science is I have a deep understanding on current unit and previous unit. My biggest challenge would be managing time, because I’ve submitted one work late. I’ve been preparing effectively, staying positive, collaborating well, and reflecting to improve. A few area I want to improve is to collaborating well with others even though I don’t want to collaborate and participating in class more.
This app will help me get no overdue assignment or forgets personal task, because I always forget or procrastinate. And three outcomes I predict this app will help me to do is eliminate as much overdue assignments as I can or having none overdue assignments. Not having to be reminded for my personal task by my parents. And I would have more free time for not complete the assignments inefficiently. I will do that by documenting all my personal task and school tasks on the app.

*This is the app’s main functions. For example you could add description for the task, and organize the assignment by class and type. You could also add the due date and due time for better insights on when its due. You can also repeat the assignment if you have the same assignments over and over every week. In addition, it can also prioritize assignments and set reminders to remind you to complete the work.
The MyHomework app includes several key organizational features: assignment entry, subject categorization, due date tracking, priority settings, and push notifications for reminders. My typical workflow involved entering each assignment, assigning it to the appropriate subject category, and setting the due date for tracking. The app effectively helped me track assignments and provided a clear overview of upcoming due dates, which supported my goal of staying organized. However, the notification system had significant limitations – the reminder sounds were not prominent enough to effectively alert me to upcoming deadlines. The interface was intuitive and user-friendly, making it easy to navigate between features and input information quickly.

*This is my calendar from Sep 18 to Oct 17, which is proof that I used for 7+ days
While I still had some overdue assignments, the frequency of overdues decreased significantly compared to my baseline period before using the app. My initial hypothesis that the app would help me stay organized and avoid last-minute work was partially supported – I completed more assignments on time, but did not eliminate overdues entirely. Despite improved organization, I did not gain the expected free time for gaming and videos due to an increase in overall assignment volume during the testing period. The app did not effectively address my primary obstacles of procrastination and distraction from games and videos, indicating that organizational tools alone may not overcome underlying self-discipline challenges.

*My WOOP Goal
The MyHomework app features a minimalist design with a plain white background and blue accents, creating a simple but visually unstimulating interface. The app lacks motivational design elements such as gamification features, reward systems, or progress streaks, making assignment tracking feel like a chore rather than an achievement-based activity. The app operates on a freemium model, offering basic functionality for free while charging for premium features including ad removal, additional color themes, and attachment capabilities. The app’s design did not significantly impact my stress levels about homework, as it served primarily as a reminder system rather than addressing underlying procrastination behaviors.

I chose question 8 in the summative as my best work because it showed my understanding of the rigid transformations and dilation.
I chose question 4 in the check for understanding as evidence of my best thinking because I explained why these two figures are congruent in depth using math language and clear thinking.
Throughout this unit, I improved the most at learning what is rigid transformations and what is dilation. Before, I didn’t know a single thing about transformations and dilation. Now I have a deep understanding of transformations and dilation and can apply it in math questions.
I feel that I still need to work on check my work and doing math with precision. Because in my final summative, I didn’t check my work and got it wrong because of the two shapes doesn’t have corresponding points.
In the next unit, I want to check my work in my problems. This is important because there is always a lot of little mistakes that would take my grade down. And I would unlock a very important skill if I know how to check my work.
Being lazy would be my number one obstacle. Because after I did my question, I would not have enough patience to redo the question to check my work.
I think only I can help myself on this.

I learned about the preposition positioning, about how it be at the start of a sentence, at the end of the sentence, or as a subject-verb split. I also learned about different types of sentences. For example, a simple sentence, a complex sentence, and compound sentence.
The final commander report would be a good example for showing my growth, as Mr. Stanley gave me a 3 for identifying the prepositioning and explaining sentence structure.

How has learning about brain science impacted your understanding of your own
behavior?
It impacts my own understanding of my own behavior, because I understands that when you are really mad. Your amygdala takes control instead of your reasoning part of the brain, pre-frontal cortex. So, your amygdala needs to calm down by using coping strategy to let your pre-frontal cortex to take control. Which makes your brain to go with the most reasonable solution using memory from hippocampus. As a result, I would always try and use one of the coping strategies to calm me down when I’m mad.
What was the most surprising thing you learned about the teenage brain?
Some of the most suprising fact I learned about the teen brain is how it is still developing into the 20s, with different parts developing slower than others. For example, the pre-frontal cortex finish develops at mid-20s.
How might understanding the teen brain improve communication and relationships between teens and adults?
It will signficiantly improves the relationships between teenagers and adults, because it have to understand that the pre-frontal cortex is not fully developed. So teens can not fully control their impulsive actions, which might lead to teens doing some unreasonable things, and teens are ususally more risk taking. And if adults don’t understands these action that teens do, they might just be frustated and worsen their relationships with teens.

Which stress management strategies do you think would be most helpful for you
personally? How could you envision incorporating them into your schedule?
I think limiting screen time would be the most important stress management strategy that is more helpful. I can incorporate this in my schedule by removing screentime, instead I should add more reading time or off-screen activities before sleep.
Using the grade 8 Word Wall words, in accurate context and showing your
understanding of these terms, will greatly enhance your post.
When we experience stress, the amygdala would quickly react if there is threats, however these stress are ususally fake dangers, and may trigger FFF response through the sympathetic system. The parasympathetic system works to calm your body down once the threat has passed. And prefrontal cortex plays a critical role in taking control in these emotional reactions, helping us crashing out less or having very strong emotions. The would hippocampus go through our memory, allowing us to learn from stressful experiences and to face future ones easier.
